Every single playstation 1 game is being ran on a playstation 2, so why don't we also take this to the klonoa leaderboard and have them ban the use of PS2 as well.

Just because I have an "impossible time" doesn't mean you can't compete. Filters let you chose who you compare against. If you want to compare against PS2, enable "PS2 only" or something. At the end of the day, I beat this game using HARDWARE BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY, not emulation.

In addition different model PS2's also have different loading, is it fair to say that that's unfair to people who don't own the 90K model PS2? I don't even own a PS2, so what gives you the right to tell me as well to buy a console when I don't own it?

Speedrunning is all about achieving a time playing a game fast. If someone beats your time, you got beat. Don't pull bullshit like "oh, he only beat me cause he got better rng" or "he beat me cause his loading is faster" because YOU can match the loading and YOU can match the rng, it's whether you choose to sit around and bitch about it, or actually get up and do it.

Note that as long as it's official hardware, official releases by companies, anyone else can get the means to match others hardware. Emulation through PC is always an issue and is not an acceptable way to matching someone's loads.

What is the big deal I'm not going to go out of my way to buy a slower console if I already own a PS3 that can play PS2 games legitimately.

Just to further emphasize, why are you speedrunning with limitations? If you know a console is faster and it's legitimate, there's no reason to ban it.

To put into perspective what you are saying Nub_hat, why don't we just ban PS2 from Klonoa 1? The game was designed for the PS1 and loading is faster on PS2. Are you not even understanding what you are saying?

Making a new category? There's filters on the site, if you want to show best PS2 time, just select PS2. Don't make a new category for PS3 users just so you can feel better about yourselves.

Or you could just get a PS3 like other runners from every other game and compete just as fairly instead of making a problem over nothing. Also PS3 is not an emulation, it is EXACTLY the same concept as running a PS1 game on a PS2, why haven't those communities done this either? Same concept as placing a GCN disk into a Nintendo Wii. Same concept as placing a Wii disk in a Wii U. Same concept as placing an Xbox game in an Xbox 360. What makes the PS3 special enough to warrant this?

In addition, was this even brought up with series mods and the only active Klonoa 2 moderator, fenrijay? I've seen no communication with community from you at all nub_hat, this is not how a community moderator acts. This is the actions of a sad old boy who doesn't even keep up with the times. You have been inactive from this site for 8 months, the time you get back you ban a run without talking to moderators, you shit up my youtube comments sections, and you believe it's unfair to run on PS3 when others run on PS2. The real problem here is no one actually times their milliseconds accurately, just putting what their splits say, which is human error 101 for timing

I need to get Earthbound off my mind lol, but thank you, I do like the fuel cell definition, though I understand it had the effect that "you could just buy it," but I agree being unique is at least worthwhile since it kinda si required for story to continue.

As for the c stick items, I honestly don't think story based items should be required. 100% doesn't necessarily mean "complete all objectives as intended," so items required to do a certain objective shouldn't be collected if could be skipped if they're one time use items

For example: Golden root is required to get first scarab bag + place ice block to proceed in game. Golden root doesn't have any real purpose in the game as far as a 100% collection run should. Therefore, it's not required.

Does anyone else have any problems with AndyPanther's definition? Any clarification needed?

I really enjoyed that well thought-out and typed definition. As it stands the Tokens being delivered was the main issue as to why we couldn't settle on a community agreed definition. As for the Fuel Cell portion, I myself believe it would make sense to collect for a 100% speedrun, but it's just an item you can easily buy as well.

So, I guess, since you got the best definition Andyperfect , list the requirement in a nice and ordered format with what you believe should be included, that way we got an easy to find and view definition with requirements to go by. Make it as though it will be the actual rules (because honestly, they probably will since they make most sense but I gotta put it to a talk w/ community)

I was judge #12 (dropped out due to some personal / real life issues) and judging was literally "is this a good watch." I didn't do the "was this game popular" as a means because that was irrelevant for the criteria suggestion we judge by.

So a little breakdown on how I felt a game should be judge based on my own criteria. Note that I didn't have this written down as a guide to follow, but in essence it's how I believe I judged based on "Is this a good watch"

1. Is the game very technical?

If so, what made it technical. Was it the smooth gameplay?

2. Is there a wow factor?

OOT any% is a simple wow factor as an example (wrong warping).

3. Length?

Didn't really pertain to my judgements but had I judged a long game, it had to keep attention throughout whole run.

4. 1 category per game

Only 1 category per game, it'd be odd to run any%, then 100%, then an in between category of the same game. I just accepted all the good category watches of the same game, but made sure that it would be down to whoever finalized the schedule to pick best fit.

5. Was the run entertaining?

First 4 points weren't necessary, if I was impressed I usually accepted it (the other points would help for future judgements)

That being said, this year is gonna be a good year for feedback based on the judgements so that future marathons can be done more efficiently. Also like to point out Naeg kept on our asses about passing judgements.

Lag is not accurately replicated in this game through emulation, to the point it saves time over all the official releases of this game. Until an emulator is able to handle this, there will be no emulated runs accepted.

Still, at least with all stages you aren't playing under Expert difficulty, so it'd make sense. Also I really don't like Misc. categories in general but if multiple runners were to do runs of All Stages it'd make for a more convincing argument than just requesting it to be added when no one has done runs yet.

I agree with Yellow Line as a Misc category but it needs rules, and it must complete the game. It makes no sense to have a category that just stops w/o an ending. Though IMO, it's got the weakest potential to be added due to the nature of how this game works with the "Lines."

This sounds like an "All Stages" speedrun which I actually see it having the biggest potential of being added.

More feedback is needed, but I really don't understand how yellow line would work, but at least the all stages idea seems fluid enough to work

Probably already suggested but for games where emulator runs are hidden, can those runs not be given a rank? It's really crappy to see some games with a record stated as like, 7th, when the front page of that game indicated their stance on emu runs compared to console (check pokemon stadium).

What i mean is, if you click the run, it will state it's total rank and not it's real ranking
