We are now accepting runs using the Switch version of SMB1.
I did the calculations last night using a video from @SuperSonic and used emulator as well help to get exact framecounts for comparisons.
The game appears to run at a flat 60FPS. I also did some testing for the SMB3 folks and I'm getting the same thing over there.
Be aware that this is slightly slower than running on NES or PC emulator, but faster than the Virtual Console options. If you run Any% and get into the time threshold of where we start calculating milliseconds using the Bowser patterns, the FPS of the platform you used is used to calculate your final time and should closely match that by timing the video of your run. Runners are not awarded "free" time savings because they used a slower platform.
Let's say you got frame 18000 on the blubbler screenshots and show some examples of the time differences running on different platforms.
NES/Emu time (18000/60.0988139) = 4:59.507 Switch (18000/60) = 5:00.000 WiiU VC (18000/59.94) = 5:00.300 Wii VC (18000/59.824) = 5:00.883
This is just an FYI to display the differences running on different platforms so the time differences should be easy to see.
NES Classic/Mini is fine and we currently accept runs from them. Just be aware that their framerate is a little slower than that of the NES so you will lose a little bit of time in your runs due to that. It's not going to matter a whole lot unless/until you get into the 5:00 realm.
"As far as I/we know" doesn't really cut it with the framerate and the level of optimization of this game where hundredths of a second are significant. We need to be reasonably sure.
In any case, I have done some testing and calculations tonight. I'm hoping to post an update on a decision sometime today regarding SMB1.

I fixed it
This is covered in Barnowl's post with the Global Bans / Allows post from over a year ago, but the platform rules follow that of the main SMB1 leaderboard.
You must use an acceptable platform and if you're using emulator, you are required to list what it is or it will be rejected.
I went ahead and posted those rules for every single one of these 40 or whatever categories so that it's crystal clear and shouldn't give an avenue to say that someone didn't see it.
Correct. If you time the video, you should be able to tell pretty easily which iteration you have of 8-X.
Darpey's 5:18 video is a good example of what clean execution should look like.
That should be one of the last things you should try to learn how to pull off in this game. Since you're just getting started, I wouldn't recommend worrying about BBG, FPG or 1-2 clip until you have a sub 5:00 time.
Learning the levels and working on basic clean execution should be where you start. You're going to save a lot more time working on that than doing all the difficult party tricks. Work on those when it's time to start implementing those.
We'll reject it if you can't provide us with enough data to help verify it.
I fixed it. That's likely just a simple "oops, I forgot to remove the mililiseconds before hitting verify."
This is just me being nitpicky, but it's not necessary to ask us to retime your run in the comments. We retime every single submission that we get regarless if it took you five minutes or five hours to beat the game. We never just look at your splits and assume that is correct.
That being said, please make a reasonable attempt to give an accurate estimate of your time. Within a second if your Any% time is 5:03 or above and within a couple tenths of a millisecond if your time is below 5:03.
Additionally, if your time is above the threshold of where we include milliseconds (5:03 for any% and 19:12 for warpless) you don't need to go through the effort of submitting with the milliseconds as we will remove it anyway.
Let me try to explain a little better what I meant.
I know that you can't stream yourself to say Twitch and YouTube Gaming at the same time through something like the restream.io thing where you can watch your stream live on either platform. I didn't know if it violated the rules for someone to capture your stream live like in tournament situations and use that on another platform. According to those terms, it seems that you cannot permit someone to do that. It might be worth asking Twitch for a clarification for such a situation as I'd like to be 100% for certain on that.
The VoD is on nico, so it apparently doesn't embed properly. I edited the description to show the link as well. [] <-- there is also the link to it
I thought that was for things such as exporting your vods to YouTube and the likes? I suppose this may be some sort or gray area or it is actually defined somewhere?
That would be cool to see. However, since it would be a romhack, a separate leaderboard entirely would likely be warranted here.
