Practically every person who loves playing Arcade games knows how "dip switches" is refering to, so I am surprised that you don't know the term.
I cannot check the difficulty because I don't know Japanese, most of the menu is in Japanese. Let's say you are playing default settings, it's ok... but how to prove that if configuration of difficulty is set in Normal difficulty or not. In Arcade Archives using Switch probably you have a chance of setting the language into English. That method will confirm the whole configuration of dip switches are done in Normal for the sake of this leaderboard.
Update: yesterday I did the re-timing of all runs, in 1P, 2P, and 3P.
All runs that are not available to watch are rejected, but the runner(s) can re-submit the runs in fresh link. Any difficulty category only goes to Very Easy/Easy/Easiest... that is: Easy 1 in the internal dip switches.
Ok... Tetsuya agrees that -5:30 should be discarded from now on, but all runs must be checked and re-timed. Leaving now as official when the character is chosen before the screen goes pitch black.
Soon, we will re-time all runs until the most recent submission.
Ok, PeterAfro replied to me. He said not necessary to create that category. The spirit of the MM games always comes along with an official completion of the runs and not based in segmented or IL's performances. I hope you understand, but thanks pointing out that idea. Good luck.

Well the MMLB leaderboard is for sure the 100% official site for MM games and pointing out that 8 robot stages are not allowed. The completition of MM games is finishing the game from the beginning to the end. So, the 8-robot stages idea looks like a segment performance which obviously it's not full run done for the game. In my opinion it is not necessary to create that category in this leaderboard, But I am gonna DM PeterAfro about your request, or probably he will see this thread in the future and he will respond here. Categories like Deathless and/or Damageless could be more challenging as additional categories cuz you gotta do special strats for those kind of categories. Soon you will receive an answer about that.
I have an idea putting sub-categories and/or variables in Arcade...
1 sub category or variable - (1 health bar)
and...
1 sub category or variable - (3 health bar)
Ellimist did mention the chance of playthrough in Any% in Solo and Coop, which could be fair since also in SNES you can use continues (limited in SNES) in some runs, so "continues" are a possibility to be put in the leaderboard as sub-categories or set as variable for Arcade. The Any% definitely could attract more new runners, some of them could aim for eventually 1cc in the future, whether solo or coop.
In relation to Difficulty, the difficulty in runs can be still in Normal, even in Any%, but it could be open up for variation as this: Easy - Normal - Hardest. (obviously set as variables).
One can get confused with those terms... when you mention "Rapid fire" you actually mean the shooting mode when you collect the weaponry item which it is part of the game in 1943.
That item is called "Auto" a rapid-fire item, large-caliber machineguns, limited to a certain number of shots, of course. That item is legal part of the game which practically appears in NES, Arcade and etc. Therefore, it's ok. No problem. More information, you go here:
https://strategywiki.org/wiki/1943:_The_Battle_of_Midway/NES_Walkthrough
Now, the concept "Autofire" is other stuff, which it is an external resource which is not part of the game. Therefore, it is not permitted, known as unfair advantage. It is not permitted here. Normally one will ask for some input display at the moment of doing gameplay performance, but it is up to the runners using input display or not. I hope my answer can help to your doubts. Visit that link so as to check the special weapon item.
No, sir, it is not a glitch... it is something similar that can be seen also in NES version in some rooms... so if u are succeeded with that strat or you can ruin it, it is a perfect pixel jump, practically jumping at the tip of the brick. TAS runs are not permitted here in this leaderboard, but you can learn some stuff from them and apply some strats afterwards in official runs. That Youtube run in TAS is not permitted here, but there is a page where TAS videos are welcomed.
Ohhhh... in relation to settings in MvC collection... well if configuration of dip switches can be shown in the collection then it's ok (Assuming if main menu could look like the Capcom Beat'em up Bundle menuing). If not, probably nope. This is some sort of mandatory for 1cc and no death runs.
I haven't played the mvc collection yet... apparently all games in the collection start with "Free Play" mode... which I don't know if this can be changed to "Insert Coin".
In any%: any difficulty can be played, but for faster execution "Extra Easy" is recommended. Free play mode is ok, credit feeding is ok. (No need to show dip switches, but you have free will to do it or not, if you can).
In 1cc%: default difficulty is a must, default lives is a must, only one extend is a must., no credit feeding. (Dip switches is a must to be shown at the beginning).
To have runs done in the new MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection you gotta own a PS4 or PS5 or Switch with ElGato card capture. Or probably you need buying that collection through Steam, therefore the platform must be "PC" . Obviously runs done using the new MvC collection must be shown as confirmation of this. But of course, emulation is an viable option like Mame, Winkawaks, Fightcade, FBA Neo Alpha, Bizhawk, Gotvg. And new stuff like MiSTer would fit greatly.
The Arcade category was already added several months ago, but probably you didn't see it because it was put into Misc.. I am down with the addition No Glitch stuff in Arcade. In fact, I am gonna put that ipso facto for runs.
The minus -5:30 rule was set before I was added to the moderation of this leaderboard.
Probably this was set without the fact of pressing the 3 buttons by fast-forward-ing it and most Capcom arcade titles have the chance of doing it (CPS-1-CPS-2-CPS 3).
Officially for me... the start run could be STILL by choosing the character (BUT getting rid of the -5:30 stuff) or the start run could be when you gain control of your character (that is, punching-jumping-firing) but it will require to re-time all runs. So I am down more only for the 1st option.
I am gonna talk/dm the other moderator and MarthSR about the idea of getting rid -5.30 stuff. I will let you know and other runners about it I hope in a short time. Thanks for your question.
Youtube has now a copyright spot in the game. This was noticed in Stage 1 by verifying recent runs.
The submission of the run doesn't show properly in speedrun dot com when the main link is from Youtube only.
The solution could be dropping the links of the runs on Twitch and Youtube at the moment of the submissions.
