Is this what you're seeing, or is there actually a bug here? Some of the pending action responses aren't working correctly right now, that is known.

This probably suggests a bug with request processing introduced with the pending requests update, I'll ask someone to look into it.

I denied it due to being a visual novel with no notable gameplay. I also acknowledge that there is probably equal content already existing on the site that I'd prefer not have been added in the first place.

This seems one sided, so I'm going to turn it over to orsa and MopeyJoe. They can add others if they want.

There's a lot of desire for features in the future including time conversion and better ways of integrating runs in a single table maintaining modularity while still denoting radical time measurement differences. I don't foresee major updates on this in the short term though.

One side note: If regular moderators cannot unmod themselves, this might indicate a small bug, as that is an intended ability.

adamdotpng: I think he should be able to add you. Either that or he might have to add himself as a game moderator to add you, which he has the ability to do. I'll add you because he basically said okay.

SPY3R: Adding runs every single time you come to the site isn't a requirement. He set up the boards but didn't add a run. He seems relatively young and at a glance maybe doesn't speak much English, so I'm fine with transferring it over to you.

Mega Man X4 Moderation/Category Discussion

Noted differences:

• Time conversions
• Is timing start and stop different as well?
• Tracks 3 Ultimate Armor categories
• Tracks low% Zero

I need to know how you would propose changing these things (and anything else) over the short term (perhaps with consideration to future site features if worth noting.)

I've never played X4, nor do I know much about it in particular, but I've played X1-3

From observations of runs listed, both appear to play the game. I inquired about different rules/categories above. I get the claim "I've talked to several other prominent community members" quite often, but I'll give you some benefit of the doubt here.

• Any particular instances of "going out of their way." ? There's a major difference between having a different opinion and intentionally having a different opinion.
• "It makes the leaderboards a bad representation of the community." - It just looks like a differently organized data set to me. "It's suboptimal" or "It's a bad way to lay out the data" are fair arguments, but unless it's intentionally negligent for some reason I haven't been informed of, from my perspective I don't know that I'd describe it as a "bad representation of the community".

Indeed we have been handling most Mega Man games on a case by case basis because there seems to be a fair amount of dissent, especially in the X series.

I'm not trying to take sides, I'm just asking for information. Any additional information will help us make a more informed decision.

Sorry if the game request queue got behind this week. Someone caught it up before I got back though.

Rom hack should just be a global game flag that means the game has a parent game. Games should be able to be divided into subgames ideally, and main games should be able to have multiple arbitrarily named "full game" and "individual level" boards.

I don't think we should hack in short term solutions to these issues, as it will just create more cleanup going forward.

Yeah, I wish links weren't case sensitive. It's not a bug, but it's not exactly a desirable feature IMO.

There's plenty of gray cases. "One stop shop" doesn't imply that we're looking to feature one handed runs with one eye closed just because someone decides to do it. (Though I would like a way for users to upload arbitrary unverified PBs outside of the leaderboards in the future.) It also doesn't imply that all the emulators used are perfectly accurate. At this time it's generally left to the moderators and the users to discern what is useful information to track.

Currently the site does not have great ways of discerning levels of validity of information. Either it's allowed on the board or it isn't for now. Though you do have "emulators hidden by default" available to you, which may address this case.

Neither decision is correct or incorrect currently. This could change if other functionality is implemented to help mitigate the concerns.

jonese1234: Contact the moderator on Twitch, I think he's pretty active. The board is relatively setup, but it could be missing categories or something. If there's something missing with the current setup let me know, but still try contacting the moderator on Twitch please.

We had discussed making series and games not a 1:1 requirement. This is complex at the moment with the way moderators are set up to inherit, among other reasons. Revamping series probably will not happen in the short term.

Reordering games within a series is a much simpler request. There are a few other items that need reordering added, so maybe that can all be taken care of at once.

We've been pretty lax with what's required as a video. Just put in some level of effort to a substantial level in the game. Don't use the short 5 second level just for the sake of having a time.

Yeah this is something that needs added. If the database handles it well it should be relatively easy to add on the site. I don't know how well the API can potentially offer this flexibility at the moment.

DanJonMor: It looks like the runs in queue were handled. Message them directly to discuss potential moderation, or even just recommend they add a person or two. Not everyone checks the site every day.

Marathon forums ideally should only be manually populated by staff onto the main forums page. Currently the creation and population are tied together.

Games need an optional month and day field. There is not a good way to handle it currently. I think it was said at one point that the order on the page of the tied values is the order in the database.
