I'll (hopefully) be on vacation in April during these dates, so May only works for me from those available dates. :)
Hey!
On second thought I think this entire thread was honestly completely irrelevant and I'll just uphold the old legacy routing as people ran it before that way as that's just logical and fair.
I did adjust the rules to mimic the timing at the end of All Levels (it can be at the fade-out, instead of the actual credits) as I'll again mirror the old legacy runs and how they timed it before. I'll also revise in the rules any levels can be played as long as the amount totals 50, regardless of sequential order, and that save & reload is also allowed. 50 Levels had slightly separate timing, so it can end at the fade-out as well so everything is now unified and I'll adjust all the current runs to reflect everything tomorrow.
[Edit]: Also added Switch Virtual Console as a platform.
Hey everyone!
This board used to have no moderator actually for the longest time. I run the Game Boy version, and was set to one here after the board had no moderator. It used to have some confusing categories with very arbitrary goals - some of which made no sense (25 levels, 50 levels, 75 levels, "All Levels" and Any%).
I believe the way the boards were setup in the past was to create categories for every time you see "credits", but, this game was and is very unpopular and no one ran it anyway. At the time, there was no runs for "Any%", "25 levels", "75 Levels". Then, Nintendo decided to play necromancer and brought it back from the dead for Switch online and it's seen a little bit of activity.
All the previous categories had no rules at all, and, if you check Sutte Hakun as a series, had categories that also weren't exactly unified. I since deleted "25 Levels", "Any%", and "75 Levels", and added some basic timing rules as there was nothing established. I chose timing at the time for the legacy Japanese runners that previously had submitted runs.
Traditionally also, the previous categories in other games were sequential. 50 levels meant 50 levels in a row (1-50). All stages meant all stages (usually 90-100, minus bonus sections) and bonus levels had their own category, like an extra mode.
Unique routing happened and I verified some runs I honestly shouldn't have trying to get the board in order. 50 levels should be 50 in a row (1, 2, 3, 4, 5...) but people have been routing it to pick 50 levels total not respecting the sequential order. What do people prefer?
I personally would not add another category for 50 Levels, just change the rules to reflect the community preference. Thanks!
Hey sorry. I for some reason didn't receive a notification for this post, but yeah, I would lean toward no just because I'm not even sure specifically the game requires it?
Can you not just hold the button down? I don't remember having to mash anything (?)
Hey, this release date totally crept up on me and I wasn't around much on SRC the last week.
For now, the boards are sub-separated into the 3 difficulty modes offered, and, characters are also separated (and are listed as a variable you can select under Any%).
If anything is found in the future where the characters play or time very differently than each other to render one non-competitive, I'll separate the boards into two main categories instead: "Any% - Cedric" and "Any% - Orchid."
Rules are super simple. No turbo, and, timing begins on character select / ends on loss of control.
Anyone need anything else let me know!

Nah, turbo can be disabled.
Categories should be up today as well - sorry about the delay.
I wasn't really around SRC as much this last week.
Hey there, I'm not thinking of running this game and noticed the WR is using Turbo to shoot while walking backwards. Is that allowed on this board? I didn't see anything in the rules about it and wanted to make sure before not practicing more. Thanks!
Hey everyone!
It's always been heavily implied (but not specifically written) that starting runs from a savestate was not allowed. I've messaged many random runners asking for people to start runs from complete resets. As of June 10th, 2024, runs starting from a savestate will now be automatically rejected whether or not G gun dropped in the first stage.
I'll accept the ones still in queue right now as I don't think anyone cheated starting from a savestate, but moving forward any run that starts with a savestate will be rejected. Again, I don't think anyone is cheating, but it's entirely possible off savestates to always start and force G gun drops in stage 1. This is now prohibited in the rules and explicitly stated so instead of just being "implied" as a thing not to do like in every other game on SRC.
Thanks!
It makes me laugh this board/game ever received any traction. xD
I since, from this last reply added $1000000 as a category, which - was destroyed.
But thank you! I did originally create this board as a meme run to see a bunch of runners route a game most never ran before, but over time it was cool to see legitimate strategies develop (and of course, I would have and did create actual categories people could enjoy the game with.)
Just to answer here as I was contacted privately:
I'm completely neutral.
First, I'm not the moderator that setup this board, so this is my own personal opinion.
Second, if I setup the board I would have never added "Buster Only" even for fun back then, and just kept it Any%, as now it creates an awkward precedent in the future. I would actually be inclined to remove "Buster Only" and just keep "Any%" as the only category because this game, despite being based on a popular cartoon franchise, absolutely does not get speedrunners submitting runs to it. I can check, and in the entire 4(?) years that hirexen modded me, I've verified like 6 runs - and he has verified 69. That's about 7 runs a year.
Adding even more categories in my opinion is just bloat to a board that doesn't get runs to begin with.
But, I'm also neutral in the sense "Buster Only" exists.
Since it does, it doesn't make sense "Furball Only" and "Pluckie Only" and "Dizzy Only" shouldn't exist, too, but, even then "Furball Only" and "Pluckie Only" are basically identical to the Any% run, and, probably why they were never added. Any% at optimized levels, are effectively the same categories as "Furball Only" and "Pluckie Only" with very small differences.
"Buster Only" changes some strats, but again in my opinion shouldn't have ever been added as this board should have just really had "Any%" as the only category.
In order of preference of what I would personally do:
- Remove "Buster Only" and just keep Any%. This is what I would do if I created the board.
Second choice:
- Add all the other characters as their own separate categories but move all the categories to miscellaneous so "Any%" is the main board. Until there's a large numbers of runners, I don't think the other categories should be with "Any%" because they're never going to be competitive and just going to serve as bloat. We can see this already with "Buster Only" only having like 4 runs in 7 years. Pluckie/Furball aren't strong enough to be much different than "Any%" because that's what Any% is - both of them together, and Dizzy alone sucks as a character to play through.
I changed it!
I know in the past it wasn't immediate, so at some point you'll see the new one.
Thanks for submitting that. :)
Thank you! I'll change it.
SRC changing this and forcing this dimension was one of the worst changes probably ever on the site.
Yeah, that's ok!
As long as the controller has no advantages or functions that can't be replicated on real controller (example - turbo, L+R inputs) then controller doesn't matter.
