Like i said it's just an idea..some people liked it, some people didn't. I just thought it could make them look better, but of course i ask the community first, since i only run SMB 2.
"And the games run a little different." "They're almost identical copies."
Actually i only meant you can't do the same "tricks" and glitches.
Anyway, this is just an idea, it's not me forcing anything or anyone.
Well..the smb2 lb is a little messed up. So that would fix it. About the others, i thought It could have been a good idea to have the all stars versions under the same page and leave this as a nes only page. And the games run a little different.
Hi, this also applies to SMB2 and SMB: The Lost Levels.
What's your opinion on moving the All Stars leaderboards to the actual SMB All Stars game? The Subcategory / variable feature might be a good choice for that. So there will be a category for each game, then one subcategory for any%, one for warpless, etc..
Let me know.
i'd like to share some ideas i had regarding leaderboards, timing and rules in general. Here's my proposals:
1- Instead of having 4 separate leaderboards for each character any% run, we could use subcategories. So it would be something like: main category Any% 1 character -> Sub categories: Mario, Luigi, Toad, Princess. This would apply to both the NES and SNES version 2- The subcategory feature could be also used for the "classic" categories. I mean, we could have: main category NES -> subcategories: any%, warpless. SNES -> any% no s+q...etc.. 3- Adjust the timing rules for all stars version. Is there a reason why we stop the timer after grabbing the cork instead of doing like the NES version? 4- Moving the All Stars leaderbaords to the Super Mario All Stars page, which only contains multi-game categories.
What do you think about it?
I can share my strat, it works almost every time: 1- charge the jump 2- don 't press left till you reached the maximum height 3- press left and get damage 4- grab the shyguy and run to the ladder 5- DON'T throw him until you've touched the leftmost wall 6- As soon as you touch the wall on the left, immediately turn right and throw the shyguy 7- fall down the ladder and press up when you touch the ground 8- Keep the up direction pressed
that's it
I just copied retrobob's explanation and found a good setup for me. I get it almost 100% of the time.
I'll answer to it since i handled the request. The "no reason" was indeed an accident, the page timed out because i got a phone call while writing the reason. I thought it was back there but it wasn't. Basically what Liv said by the way.
Sorry again.
The problem is not the glitch itself,no One here is against glitches.. it's the GBA version. Is It 100% identical to the nes One? Then ok. It's not? Then create a leaderboard
A "skipless" category wouldn't make sense at all, because the only useful skip used is the moon skip (very easy to learn, trust me). So basically a skipless run would just be the same run with an endless moon stage.
Just capture the entire window and, if possible, show the input display, framerate and (if available) the no movie mark.
The mods have also other leaderboards + IRL stuff. We check the forums as much as possible, but sometimes we simply forget. Trust me you have no idea how many runs i've rejected because they don't respect our rules, so the mods are doing a good job with this game.
Sorry we don't allow runs with no video, that's a general rule of the NES community.
This is great Koh, grats on doing it
If you walk while carrying a box / 2nd player, after 30 frames of walking your projectile starts blinking, it means you have "charged" your weapon -> double damage.
Hey everyone, since there are no differences in the run (except for the timer running faster on hard, but it doesn't change anything in the speedrun) i merged all the categories into a generic "Any%" and "Any% coop". You're now required to specify the difficulty level.
I just use some duct tape and put them upside down
Well everyone is basically saying that removing those runs was maybe too much. Imo kozzx you should listen to the community (btw there are even other mods so..) because what they actually said makes sense. No One is arguing Just because, their points are legit.
Also..i don't wanna accuse anyone, but sanaefroggy's issue proved the obvious, that is you can create even an entire fake stream with FCEUX, with failed attempts, PB, WRs, anything. You just need to have patience and make a long movie file, no real effort needed. So..an FCEUX / Bizhawk player can fake every stream of his, with noone noticing it. So...no..streaming live doesn't prove anything.
He put the runs back on his youtube profile, link here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-sJfY8uu2wi15fP92TSBcA/videos
