yeah Im slightly more skilled at speedrunning the game than my brother, so i played right side of controller. in terms of technical skill though we are pretty equal, so we knew what to do in terms of cap bounces.
Yeah, that's not a big deal for us personally, and its just any% (or any category for that matter) having one player control left side of controller and a second player controlling the right side. Joy cons would probably make it easier but he doesnt like the stick and i want big buttons lol, Im not sure how you wanna moderate it, but I would suggest seperating the controls based on their joy-con location, and only allow 2 hands on controller at a time.
Me and my brother just finished a runthrough of the game using one pro controller, and I think it would be cool to put on the leaderboards. It's a really interesting idea that has been explored by a few communities, most notably the SM64 16 Star run at PACE. Even just adding a sub cat under the normal categories would work. Thanks! And sorry if this has been brought up before.
Thank you! I'm just starting out anyway and really am only doing this so I can try out the series run GigaLul I'll def try to have audio when I can though
Would videos of this game require good audio, if any? My setup is capturing my phone's camera screen with my elgato via an adapter, so I have no way of recording audio through that. If I do no mic streams, there will be no audio in the recording. Will that be acceptable? Thank you!
Correction: Levels 0, 5, and 10's runs aren't showing. 15 and 20 do show up.
Could you re-check the IL settings, as none of my recent runs are appearing. Perhaps you have runs with certain criteria hidden, or something like that. Otherwise it's a bug that we should report to get fixed. Thank you!
Just for documentation purposes, I'd like to point out that the game has gotten a new name about midway through development. It seems to be going in a slightly different direction as well, once the first build of the new game Paperhead is released, I will decide what to do about the SRC page.
I know it's a web game and those really aren't even encouraged on the site anymore, but the singular mod for Pico's School has been inactive for 8 months, and I have a run waiting to be verified. Honestly I wouldn't even care if it got removed from the site, I just don't like having the run waiting there! Please and thank you. https://www.speedrun.com/user/xSeLeCTx/info
Cat Bird is my favorite mobile game to date, and its speedruns are amazing.
Alright I took a pretty long break after the new year, and although I've been playing some of my speedgames to keep movement and muscle memory stuff fresh, I am finding it difficult to get back into the swing of things. Are there any tips anyone has for getting back to my previous levels of willingness after a break? I'm definitely not going to quit speedrunning.
Now that version 1.0 is released, myself and ferdinand have been playing through, getting a feel for running the game. In the Discord, Tweni said that he wasn't too interested in the game anymore, do you think you could add the two of us as mods if you guys aren't going to do anything? I'm fairly sure we will both be ready to do runs soon, and he also wants to run the ILs as well. (haha) Please and thank you!
What exactly is “flinging”? From what I can gather you have to change your FPS limit mid-run to allow you to gain an insane amount of speed from abusing this. I’m not really interested in doing a flings category anyway, I’m just curious
On the GameJolt page, he has the old version (the one we use for runs), and the new one. I'd like to add the new one as it is drastically different in terms of the map.
So because it doesn't work, can I just submit my time with loads and have you retime it?
Congrats have fun
Yeah again with the SM64 Weegee14 had the WR for a long time in a REALLY optimized category. I’m young myself and speedrunning is one of my favorite things I’ve ever done, much better than Fortnite (amirite guys)
Yeah a lot of people in the community are younger than you think. If you look at mandude in the SM64 community, he’s like 10 and plays the game alongside WR contenders, imagine what he’ll be like when he’s an adult. That’s why I think it’s great to get into it young, because you will improve so much if you stick with it. My only word of advice is to not let it take too much of a toll on you mentally or socially
I see, thank you! I kinda wanna get into Excitebike and that’s IGT (for ILs) so there would be no timing difference
