What is the comparison of EMU/NES as opposed to Switch “VC”? Is it the same time loss as Wii, NES Classic?
GVUSB-2 for capture device, Bizhawk for snes, project 64 1.6 for n64. If your computer can't handle handle recording, then idk what to tell you
Super Mario 64 is really fun, especially if you’ve played it casually
Cause I wanna get into SMB but idk if I should use EMU or my Wii VC
A related question, is VC faster or EMU?
If you go into livesplits settings, check if “Global Hotkeys” are on, this will allow you to start the timer no matter what’s in focus
Quality content XD but seriously, if you’re talking about a source engine game, then there are demo recorders that are easy to set up
Although it is just a lot better to ask the moderators, I'm just telling you what I use
BizHawk for basically everything. Other than that, Project 64 1.6 is my favorite N64 emulator. Version 2.X is banned
I think the maybe was more for emulation, as it negates the need for the vast majority of consoles.
In terms of popular speed games, every Nintendo console usually has one or two, and now you can get any of the modern three and have a great selection. NES has the SMB games, SNES has Super Metriod and Yoshi Island, N64 has SM64 and Wave Race, GC has SMS and Battle for Bikini Bottom. Then again, with backwards compatibility and virtual console, you could just get a more modern console and have a decent selection. But as everyone else was saying, PC is a good thing to have if you count that.
To add on to that, video proof wasn’t required in the very early days of speedrunning, picture proof and just the plain old honor system were used. But these were times when speedrunning didn’t attract thousands of people, and it was more of a niche thing, so (correct me if I’m wrong) video proof was inducted when speedrunning became popular in the late 90s and early 2000s when technology for cameras and capture devices became more advanced. I’m no expert on the subject by any means, but it’s a fun discussion to have.
Yeah, controller cams are more for special condition runs such as one handed, or that one guy who speedruns games with a dancepad. The only anti cheating rules apart from the classic “no vid, no did” that I’ve really seen is the emulator rules that @Timmiluvs mentioned. On emulators that have TAS features, there are usually indications on TAS movies that it is indeed a movie. Sometimes, emulators have something that says “movie not playing” or something of the sort. I also agree with the overblown thing on YouTube and stuff, it’s not that prevalent as they make it sound.
That’s disgustingly long lol, but maybe that’s just me
Thank you! For anyone wondering, as far as I know, collection is only on switch, maybe another console but I’m not sure
Or any nsmb game really, imo most difficult is the iriginal for the DS
No offense, I mean it, but neither are obscure games like Doraemon. But what do I know? Just for me saying that there’s gonna be 3 new runs in the next week. XD
Dr. Mario Express as well, I want to run it but with no competition it’s not very fun
Also, I can’t find your two runs on the leaderboards, although they are on the front page (because I follow the game)
