I'm sorry to hear what you're going through, it must be hell. Talking about it helps and there is no shame in seeking professional help when you're in a really dark place, they will be the best people to help you tackle this.
If you are interested in speedrunning mobile games, there is a discord for that https://discordapp.com/invite/F2fJjUg

Personally, I have had a good experience with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=danb.speedrunbrowser&hl=en-GB (if you are on Android)
Cool, thanks. I'll play around with it and if I find anything I'll let you know.
Yeah, the loads are annoying. I also fear load times may differ between devices meaning, short of subtracting loads (which would be a massive ball ache) slower devices will be disadvantaged.
Cheers! I have only done recorded runs of the first three missions so far but will work my way through all of them and then may be tackle full game.
Off topic, it feels like there should be some out of bounds or skips to find due to the number of border objects, but I haven't yet discovered anything. Have you experienced anything during gameplay that might be promising?
Hey LMI! I've done one or two IL runs and presumed start frame would be on 'tap to continue' (after the level has loaded) as load times may vary across devices. Example:
Would it be possible to adjust the rules, or do you want to keep it as it is?
Yeah it is kinda sad when I think about it. I used to love just stumbling through a game blind (I must have sunk 300+ hours into skyrim including probably 10+ hours crafting spoons), but I've since become obsessed by the speedrun mentality.
I haven't played a game casually for 3 years except for games without any existing runs already, where I play through it normally but merely to work out what the route should be (so not strictly 'casually'). I don't know if I'm capable of enjoying a game casually anymore.
Cheers, both are pretty good! Lee Evans was the celeb I was thinking of btw
Don't think many people here would know who he is..
Hey! Nice game, I may well give this one a go - are there any glitches or exploits in the run?
If any of you are interested in speedrunning mobile games in general you should check out the mobile speedrunning discord at https://discordapp.com/invite/F2fJjUg
You might want to check out a similar proposition here for tips https://www.speedrun.com/Speedrunning/thread/iblxr (which I saw EZscape is now endorsing, which is cool).
IMO there is a place for mods which remove specific RNG if enough people are interested in running it as a separate category. For some games it could make an otherwise near-unrunnable game runnable and for others it could simply open the game up to more runners. As long as no one is kidding themselves that they can be judging such runs against unmodded runs then I see no harm.
There are score based games that are speedran on a 'time to x score' basis (e.g. https://www.speedrun.com/Doodle_Jump#10_000_Points ) but personally I am not a fan. Seems a bit arbitrary but just my opinion.
But why.
One bugbear of mine is boards where they rank by IGT but the RTA is also provided for just one or two of the entries so you have a column that is pretty much empty apart from one or two times.
Game looks fun. My question is how much RNG is there, particularly in the opening stage, i.e. are enemy spawns (number and type of enemies) random, and is damage output partly RNG? The reason I ask is that we have a competition in the mobile speedrunning discord ( https://discord.gg/F2fJjUg ) every couple of weeks and this could be a good game to choose (first stage only probably), but if there is a big element of luck then probably not.
