I have just updated the autosplitter available through LiveSplit for this game (thank you to Carci for letting me post over his).
This functions with all versions of Sourcenext RE2: v1.0 and v1.1 (both with and without REbirth patch). You can name your splits whatever you'd like for these.
It contains options for routed door splits for every category, as well as Hunk/Tofu and EX Battle. There are also set splits for the main game categories as well as the ability to split on key item pickups. **Note that the old Claire B splits files were actually missing a door, so if you use your old splits, you need to add an extra split AFTER the existing split 121.
I have also set the autosplitter to start before the intro cutscene so you no longer need to manually start your splits before each run in order to skip the intro cutscene at the right time.
See the website here for more information: https://github.com/deserteagle417/RE2-Autosplitter
If anything isn't working properly, please @ me in this thread to let me know, or DM me on Discord! I hope you all find this convenient and useful!
UPDATE!
The autosplitter now splits at the end of the game! It won't split the moment the timer stops because some versions have a little bit of weirdness with the timer, so I built in a half second delay on the split. Do not worry though, this half second DOES NOT add to your final IGT.
If anyone has issues with this split, please let me know! It's survived all the testing I've thrown at it, so should be good, but you never know!
Yea, the newest REbirth patch moved all the address around so this won't work with it (that's why the times are crazy lookin, the items in the code are reading junk memory values). You have to use one of the ones approved for the leaderboard.
Loadless RTA is the best thing for PC runs. Protects the best against pay-to-win. I'd personally like to see it go this way.
Console being RTA seems like the only reasonable solution here given the IGT situation.
If you're running REbirth version, make sure your .exe file is named "BIOHAZARD(R) 3 PC.exe". Chinese, Taiwanese, and Mediakite versions should have the .exe named "bio3_PC.exe".
The final split is still manual, by the way... Haven't figured out how to fix that, but I'll keep trying to find something.
Hi everyone! I just uploaded an autosplitter to LiveSplit which supports all versions of the game: Chinese, Taiwanese, Mediakite, and REbirth. No need to swap ASL files if you're running different versions. It also has support for any%, Nemesis%, and any% Knife Only, just check which category you'd like to run, and that's it! It also supports key item splits as well, if you prefer that (they also function with the door splits if you really like splitting on everything).
UPDATE The autosplitter now automatically splits at the end of the run.
To use this, go to the edit splits menu and click activate. Click the settings button there to see the options available. Be sure to remove any existing "Scriptable Auto Splitter" from your layout before using this! A brief rundown of features and options is below, but visit this link for more detail: https://github.com/deserteagle417/RE3-Autosplitter
-the default any% splits are the ones ending in "Fin". The Nemesis% and knife only splits are based off of this and changed where needed -there is an option that works with the "Over Hiear" splits -there are options to add in all of the missing doors from the Clock Tower and Hospital as well as an option to split on the room resets for basement and System Disc room. -fully customizable key item splits. pick whichever you'd like to split on -a basic door splitter that will split on every door transition -an option to (mostly) fully customize your door splits. You can pick exactly which doors you'd like to split on.
Here's a quick video on setting up the autosplitter for use:
Here's a longer video where I talk about more of the settings:
I just noticed I don't get notifications for replies to this thread, so if you have a question for me about this, please @ me!
Yea, that's not me not noticing and updating the rules earlier. I think they made an update to Duckstation which split the two FPS options at some point, because I'm pretty sure I would've included both as I did for Survivor. (edit) Duckstation setup instructions: https://www.speedrun.com/residentevil/guide/lldhu
We can add that to the Fan Games series, we just need someone to moderate it, ideally someone familiar with RE runs. I think adding it just for the demo might be a bit much, but if the full game should release soon, we could do it. Can you add this question to the Fan Game forum here: https://www.speedrun.com/refangames/forum
I've updated the autosplitter for RE0 that is built into LiveSplit. It has the ability to split on items, key events which are based on where the older autosplitters were splitting, as well as door splits covering NG, NG+, and Wesker Mode for both standard and door skip runs. There are blank splits in the Resources section of this page set up to use with the autosplitter, just check out the description file in the download for what you need to check in the autosplitter settings.
Thanks to Mogul for testing early versions, Keys and Pessimism for helping me with the route for the splits, and Mysterion for helping with the code for the splitter!
The more you mash those and the faster you start mashing, the more likely to shake off in 2 bites.
Yes, the game is really only designed for local co-op. You can do remote co-op through Steam Play or Parsec, but those have some lag. Local is good though!
If you haven't already, try updating your graphics drivers. That has fixed the black box issue (alpha rendering issue) for a few people. It's possible it won't work, of course, if you have an older card or something.
My runs have black boxes in them though, too, because I deliberately don't have my drivers updated so that RE4 and Revelations 1 still function properly lol
Let's keep the PC master race bullshit outta here, yea? No reason to look down or shit on someone for being a console runner. I'm fuckin tired of seeing that shit.
Looking back on this, I should've clarified: in an NG run, you're allowed to upgrade your weapon during the run with the points that you get.
Yea, that's not very clear... We took over this board when there were no other mods on it and it's been pretty quiet so we haven't fixed all the rules yet... I'll get this updated, but since Wii has no online co-op there aren't even two screens to show.
When you submit, just submit the one video with FPS displayed and say in the run description that you used Parsec for co-op play.
It's the closest were ever gonna get to a real PC Battle Game, and since battle game is an official thing in the Saturn Version, we decided to include it here instead of on a separate board. Facts are it's unofficial, so by that reason alone it's secondary. As you know, I agree with you on more active boards being the "main board," however I'm not in favor of elevating an unofficial version over an official one. Also, the level leaderboard landing page is a grid with a column for Saturn and a column for PC, both visible at the same time! You're welcome to your opinion on this, but the board isn't changing.
You'll also notice that 3 mods run PC version... it's bad form to accuse us of something when you could have just stopped at your question instead of making an absolutely baseless accusation against the mods.
