I plan to add an "All Spirits" category at some point, I think, where we have to acquire all spirits. In addition to the story related ones, we'd also get Yun'er, Shanzhu, and Xiaoqui (who requires winning all 15 card games and completing all 7 leaf jumping challenges).
Possibly an "All Sidequests" category as well?
Ideas for a new category? Post them here for discussion and consideration!
Also, the DLC will be available on console at a later date. It's PC only right now.
So, I don't think doing Main Game + DLC will make sense as its own category since it launches separately from the main game (for some reason), and it's quite different from main game. DLC will still be added as its own category though.
Recently DLC was announced! https://store.steampowered.com/app/2223240/Sword_and_Fairy_7__Dreamlike_World_Expansion/
The DLC will be added to the board a few days after release so categories and rules can be sorted out for it. If it makes sense, possibly making a "full game" category in which you complete the DLC right after main game since it's supposed to pick up where the main story left off.
I'm pushing an update today. This is going to be invisible to many people, but currently the autosplitter will not split when leaving the Power Station if you electrocute the zombies and so leave out the other way. I've fixed that now. It will split when you completely leave the power station back into the alley (so it will skip the first door on the way out).
Moderators are not board dictators. Moderators will sometimes need to make decisions people don't like, but moderating isn't about YOU. This is just a selfish, elitist choice. "We don't like seeing this on the board." This is the take from someone who shouldn't be a moderator. As someone who has been moderating RE games for 4 years now, this is what moderating is like sometimes. You're right in that people have no respect for mods. People submit every PB, it sucks when you have 5 runs in the queue from one person in the span of a day or two, but you can handle this by looking at the fastest run, then just fly through the slower runs since they're obsolete anyway. This choice is a regression and disgrace on the RE community, and a slap in the face to those of us who have tried to make it a welcoming place to everyone. I thought we were past the days of RE mods power tripping, but I guess not.
The B scenario timer was failing to start for me just today, so I've made an alternate way for B scenarios to start the timer (still right after loading the save). Not sure why it suddenly stopped working, but I pushed an update to fix it now. Nothing should change on your end. Please @ me here or in the RESpeedruns Discord if you come across any issues!
I want to bump this, can we update the rules to say "Time ends on sword up after defeating Ganon."?
I know this is a month late (thanks SRC for no notifications!), but it will split when IGT ends. But you have to complete the splits - hit the split key after the timer finishes (by default timer turns blue on PB) so that the timer goes back to zero and that attempt is "finished". Then when you save your splits it'll save those times.
I'd recommend waiting until the results screen to complete the splits just to show it matches the results screen.
Everything except NG+ and NG Easy are done! Will continue working on it tomorrow!
I made a video of the skip with the coordinates up in case that helps anyone:
Your mileage may vary and visual cues may differ, but what I look for is Jill's right heel to be at the corner where the tiles meet and aim when it's as far into that corner as possible.
Then turn a bit and aim up and look for that little diamond of wall you can see between Jill's hand, the fireplace, and the gun.
Aim down there, then shoot.
I've tried it for hours and the only weapons that work are the bazooka (any ammo type) and the flamethrower (useless). So it has to be projectile and not hitscan :( I desperately wanted it to work for Chris
Saturn version does have some bug fixes compared to the others (for example, the ladder OoB doesn't work), but definitely worth checking out. However, as Brando pointed out, it's probably not be worth it on Saturn because of the eternity it takes to get the Bazooka. However, might be worth timing for 100%.
Since this isn't an official way to play the game, we'll have to insist on runs being done from the disc for the console board. But you can absolutely play it through your PS3
As far as I can tell, the endsplit is working now, so I've pushed an update re-enabling it. If anyone has any issues with it, please let me know!
I believe I've fixed the issue, so just waiting on some other people to do independent tests and confirm it working, then I'll push the fix with a re-enabled end split.
I've gotten a report of the end split triggering when the timer briefly flashes to 0, so for the moment I've disabled it. I'll be looking into this soon to try and fix it!
I have just uploaded a new autosplitter for RE1 to LiveSplit. HUGE thank you to SHiiDO for allowing me to overwrite his existing one!
The default settings of this autosplitter are IDENTICAL to the one that was previously up there, so if you do not want to, you do not need to make any changes at all if you are happy with how it was functioning. This option is called "checkpoint splits" in the new autosplitter.
Routed door splits for every main board category. These splits will only split when going in the correct direction along the route for the category. Just set your category in the Settings menu! The existing splits upload by SHiiDO should be compatible with these!
Don't like splitting on every door? Using these will reduce Bad Ending runs to 16 splits and Good Ending runs to 17 splits. Blank splits files for these will be uploaded soon, but you can check the website for more detail ( https://github.com/deserteagle417/RE1-Autosplitter )
These split on every door transition you make, regardless of route. These are different to the previous version of the autosplitter in that they don't wait at certain checkpoints to catch up.
Do you like splitting on key item pickups? Then this is the option for you! You can select which items you'd like to split on, then the autosplitter will split when that item enters your inventory. Key item splits are also compatible with any version of the door splits as well, so you can add them in to the segmented splits, or if you want about 250 million splits, into the door splits!
Tutorial video coming in the next couple days, but please read the autosplitter webpage if you want to see more details on the autosplitter https://github.com/deserteagle417/RE1-Autosplitter
