even the current wr-holder misses throws from time to time and runds die because of this...not even few, i remember times when 1-3-9 was still a dream, and i think there were 3 misses in one week, that pretended the magical mark :p so closeevery time, massive timesave before, then everything lost in final...
it defenitely depends on speed, look at 7:30, every top-runner takes 1 1/2 spins, tas does it in just 1/2
@Jumpy, i think you know about the vid, but maybe others dont...so for completion, it IS 0star-viable meanwhile
and what did he miss, OP..?
triplejump+dive would save min half a second btw! but of course its sadly not working, otherwise everyone would use it...
what shell be wrong with the wr? you mean video-quality or what? :/
canon...owl? pleaso no mate, if you dont get the 2nd frame-wallkick on the cage, then just select stars 2-6 and jump from the tower :)
i dont even get the question...what did OP mean? in 0/1 star runs MIPS aint there, and in 16 you already do it, and for 30 and more its an useless timelose? so what actually was his/her point?
does someone remember, what was going on there? just interested... :) https://www.speedrun.com/sm64/thread/8no2t/
what exactly happened to them? were runs deleted?
with the brackets in my post i meant, even mic is not always included...sry if that wasnt clear
@Bigpro19000: u dont have to record local on your HDD, if you stream it on twitch the cloud will "lose" the storage :)
@Duduoro the: OP didnt mean "< 1:30" but "> 1:30" but i also disagree. there are always fools, who will say "i beat the game in 1:43 now as i dont have to proof it." and thats simply not correct. i know, when this site released originally, there werent much video entries, but as technique evolves, we should go with it and say: every run must be video-proven.
yeah, i know the term of "any%"...before this amount, the wedding wont show up, alright...but whats the difference to 253? and even the 503 isnt 100%, as there are 999, so just pls tell me WHY? be more specific pls...i compare any%124 with the sm64_70star, and if collecting more than this (999 = 120 star) then why are there still the 2 different middle-values of 253 and 503? just dont see no sense to cut the run/category at that point...that was my question
recording doesnt involve facecam and showing your room, u know? most runners only stream vid+splits (+mic)
and if you mean your ip by privacy...i gotta tell you: first this site (and twitch) are totally safe, but uploading a vid doesnt really make a difference to what youre already doing now here (surfing, got account, posting), youre not more glassy than now by doing that :)
question: i dont own the game and i didnt really get it yet...why exactly is any% = 124 moons? if i look at the ending of e.g. 253 its the exact same? can someone explain to me pls? in sm64 its logical: 120 is "all stars", 70 is "intended any%" and fewer stars are just major sequence breaks (glitches), so that makes sense to me...but i didnt really understand the "game done"-mechanics over here...so yeah :)
sm64 N64 category also has "EMU" variable...dont think the site lets you strike it out, when choosable to describe runs
@spyro: you HAVE to show?! thats new for me :o https://www.speedrun.com/run/mk4kqr3y ... just sayin'
exactly...as 70 star for sm64 16 is the most played because its simple and fast but i dont think anyone cares about its wr 1/0 is for the true heroes only 120 includes boring stars so yeah 70 a.k.a. 253 i'd agree :)
@Poke: mashing the button is a consistent strat, but you technically dont HAVE to do it...with luck OR practise you get frame perfect inputs...it will work if a is pressed when mario touches the ground on every first frame
@Beast: i assume, you mean e.g. pk2012's vid about the ttc upwarp? thats not correct. even if nobody hasnt re-done it yet, that wont mean its not possible...you see a computer (and thats what the n64 console, an emulator or a game is...nothing different) will always do the same. it has no consciousness, so there are no decisions. whatever the inputrs AND CIRCUMSTANCES are, youll ever get the exact same result. but you dont know, what happened earlier in the run, which proper values have been set for this action to occur. but its definitely re-creatable (1st reproduce 2nd analyze 3rd exploit the glitch!), thats for sure. no bug is single-existent and doesnt happen only in a unique way.
for me it looks like you jumped too late the first time after being at the door...there are only a couple of frames where your M-speed is conserved, after that you'll end up on 0 horizontal speed. it happened sometimes to me too...but i was practicing and had the show-speed-value gameshark code on and then i saw it... M40, M90, M300, M500, 0, 40 (after doing regular longjump, not backwards)
@artman40: what you mean by developers knew those skips were possible?
yeah, but then (especially at the beginning of a game (see its not even a week out)) do it on your own, until its played to death as sm64 by cheese and co. now after 20 years...
