Thanks for adding it! :)
@TheRedVirus, aye, they can accelerate your character, but if you are too careless they might lead your character to slip into the water.
Hello. Since the game has been updated, it would be cool to add the new World called Far North. :-) I'm planning to speedrun it and submit a speedrun of Far North Any% soon.
Yes, it's good that the rules has been finally added, including the information about the timing method used to time runs.
And no worries! I didn't check whether your account is old enough to allow you answering to the private messages.
Regarding the thing I wrote to you, you might try to blur those adverts via YouTube Studio on your PC or on your mobile after switching to the desktop mode. If you won't blur them out the no worries, it's fine. The run has been positively verified anyway.
As I said in my message, blurring out ads would make the video look better for the viewers, as for it's aesthethics would've been better, but it's just me and my perfectionism, haha.
The mod team decided to apply IGT (in-game time) timing method to estimate the time of submitted runs. It's basically the time that the in-game timer shows after finishing a level.
While the situation is pretty clear with Individual Level runs, it is slightly different for full-game runs due to their specificity. IGT of that kind of runs is combined time of every level (including failed attempts) that eventually allows mods to be summed up into total and final time of a run.
Also, the game's rules has been added at last, with this method included if course in their descriptions.
Announcement #4
All leaderboards (Full-game Leaderboard and ILs) have now unified categories, which are: Any%; NoPowerUps%; Stars%; 100%. Notice that NoPowerUps% has been already present in ILs runs, but Full-game Leaderboard lacked it. Thanks everyone who suggested adding it to the Full-game leaderboard as well!
For now there are no categories planned to be added as main ones. As for miscellaneous, they might appear one day, but for now there are no plans to create such category.
Hello! I'll try to do my best as the new moderator of this game. :-)
@Bananaman9388, I added it recently, same as 100% subcategory.
@Flewb, actually it is set up properly. The pattern I decided to implement differs from the one that is being used at least in many mobile games (category -> stage, instead of the popular: stage -> category), but in my opinion it would be more clear in Moy's World's case.
I discussed it already with @felipereis11011 and while there are pros and cons of both settings, we decided to stay with the current pattern of the full-game leaderboard. Felipereis11011 also helped me a lot in improving it from the technical point of view, so it's more clear for the moderators as well.
Announcement #3
Retiming method: the guide explaining in details how all runs are retimed has been added. Here's the link: https://www.speedrun.com/moys_world/guide/6kmnl
Changes in the mod team: @Flewb decided to resign. Thank you for modding the game! At the same time I'm happy to announce that @felipereis11011 became a moderator.
New category: the mod team decided to add another category for ILs. Individual Level runs received a new category called NoPowerUps%. Please check it out and read its rules before submitting a run.
Announcement #2
I'm happy to inform everyone that @Flewb became a moderator.
Announcement #1
The game has been accepted and added on 14th December 2020.
All main categories (and subcategories as well) and ILs categories have been added shortly after, same as the rules dedicated to each of them.
The rest of things that are still to be added (i.e. general rules or a guide with detailed instruction on how to retime the runs properly) will be added as fast as it is possible.
I know that feeling... It happened to me several times on Level 9 and 10, but I was doing Any%. I can imagine it can be more painful to do it while doing 100%, since you need way more time to complete it this way.
By the way, you could've just restarted and try again. Sure, your time would've been worse than it could've been if you hadn't failed that last jump, but whatever. :P
You are right, guys. If II were to pick one solution I would choose staying with IGT timing method, since as @Lightum1 said it is more precise and shows the real skill of a runner instead of basing one's time on loading time or frames per second that might differ depending on what kind of mobile phone or emulator was used.
In fact this was the reason I decided to create this thread. It felt so weird to see better IGT times being lower than some worse ones simply because of small differences in RT, despite having quite a precise timer in the game already.
@Mike_Santiago, aye, it would look awkward, but I wrote it in case we had a significant amount of fans of using RT method on the leaderboards. By having two subcategories for IGT and RT both sides would've been satisfied, as for they would have a category dedicated for their preferred timing method.
I've been submitting two runs one after another, and while I wanted to submit the second one, suddenly a weird message appeared after I tapped "Submit" button:
"Your security token is invalid. This most likely means that someone tried to trick you into doing stuff you do not want."
I wanted to log out and log in again, but this message popped out again, so I closed the tab and opened a new one. I was still logged in etc., but I could log off without any problems and log in again after receiving a verification on my e-mail. There were no problems with submitting my run after that either.
What could be the reason this message have appeared? That my session had expired when I wanted to submit my run or something else maybe?
Hello! How about creating two separate subcategories for each main category that would differ in the way of estimating the final result of the run?
What I'm talking about is to differ runs by the real time of the run (RT) and their in-game times (IGT). By that we would have i.e. two separate leaderboards for Any% that would include times of the runs based either on RT or IGT.
This idea came up to my mind after seeing how this distinction between RT and IGT makes some runs simply look weird on the leaderboard. I'm talking about situations in which a run with worse IGT (by several seconds) was placed way higher than slightly worse or slightly higher than way better runs, simply because the RT indicator was more favorable in its case.
I hope this bug/glitch will be fixed as fast as it's possible. I suffered from it myself as well. Good that it has already been reported to the devs.
The mod team decided to slightly modify the rules of IL runs by making Any% category rules more precise by adding one more situation in which the timer stops.
All Individual Level runs have been double checked and those who required retiming have already been retimed by using the new method of timing (which resulted in getting slightly better times).
Runners of the already verified runs that were affected by the modification mentioned above will be informed about their certain runs being retimed.
All new IL runs are going to be timed by using the new method.
ILs Category Rules are going to be like the following: Timer starts as soon as you leave the ground after your first bounce and ends when you have arrived on the last platform or have hit one of the characters on it.
This thread will be the place in which announcements about all important changes related to speedruning Gopogo (i.e. connected with the timing method) are going to be presented.
Hello! I would like to suggest adding a new platform on which this game is available, which is Android. I made a run on it so it would be cool to be able to submit it. :) Same goes for other people who might play this game in the future on Android devices and who will want to submit their runs.
It could be a good category for Misc. (along with my One Ball Challenge, lol).
The game is getting more and more popular among speedrunners, so how about adding a miscellaneous category called "One Ball Challenge"?
I came up with this idea some time ago on Discord. Basically, it would be a Misc. category in which a players have to go through as much holes as it is possible, but with only using one ball per hole. If you need to hit the ball more than once to succeed, then it is equal to finishing the run. The final score would be the number of the last hole that was hit successfully with only one attempt.
While time wouldn't matter in that kind of category, there could be implemented a system of 1 point = 1 millisecond that is present on many leaderboards of a lot of games that have score-based categories.
We could also implement a system of highscores showing the amount of holes passed with only one ball that would be right next to the time. It would show raw scores before converting them to milliseconds. Everything just to make this categorie's leaderboard look more aesthetic.
About bonus hole and whether it should be counted as a hole... It can be discussed later as something that can be a moot point for many people.
What do you think about it?
