Technically second run in the category as @Alukret's was first to be verified.
Made the changes. Sorry for the wait, my priorities are elsewhere right now.
For my opinion, I would not allow binds as it is using a feature/program outside the game to provide an advantage in a speedrun.
Under Moderation Rules in the Sites rules: https://www.speedrun.com/knowledgebase/moderation-rules
"Turbo is by default disallowed for runs unless otherwise specified in the game rules. If a game chooses to allow turbo, it should typically be tracked with a variable for the runs."
So similar to the above, I can allow it as another category and require a mouse & keyboard input UI during the run.
We have the individual levels of the campaigns under Level Leaderboards, which is under the dropdown menu. We manage the many scenarios the game offers this way. If one isn't there, ask for it in the forum under the stickied thread here: https://www.speedrun.com/hommiii/thread/v9mw2
Runners mainly use the GOG release of Heroes of Might and Magic III: Complete, which updates to the Shadow of Death expansion. As far as I'm aware, there isn't a way to play the previous expansions under their original releases unless you had the original discs. In this case, I just ask if there is a run from the original disc of that expansion just to ask me to make a new category for it.
We have agreed to use the HD mod for speedruns mainly because of technical limitiations of the original game (recording mainly). In this case, we consider enhancements provided by the mod like UI.InviteHero to be submitted under HD+, and for such to be turned off when submitted for No HD+.
We have In-Game Days as a separate leaderboards, listed in the stickied thread, found here: https://www.speedrun.com/hommiii_in_game_days
Restoration of Erathia, Armageddon's Blade, and Shadow of Death are separate campaigns of Heroes of Might and Magic III, have their own maps w/ their own objectives, and therefore are their own speedrunning categories.
The discussion for categorizing (No) HD+ can be found here: https://www.speedrun.com/hommiii/thread/ot1a4 Essentially, runs are separated based on the features the HD+ option provides.
Due to the website's changes over the past couple of months, the layout of this game's leaderboards have changed, of which I did not notice until now. All of the category tabs used to be displayed outright; there weren't the left/right arrow buttons to scroll to the hidden ones. Category tabs used to display '(empty)' if there were no runs, which would direct users to the other tabs where the main runs were.
I did not implement the leaderboard's current theme, nor did I notice since I have disabled custom themes in my settings. I have made adjustments to the theme now.
Hi dethwing,
One strategy for dealing w/ Resurrection is to place one of your own creatures on top of their defeated pile. I think the AI prioritizes stronger creatures over the number lost, so block their shooters, take out the weaker ones first, and block their corpses. For Mirror Image, take out the copy, then block the shooters. It might be faster to restart, but considering Wizards get two level 5 spells, sometimes facing Resurrection is faster, especially if they get a Summon Elemental spell.
In Country Lords, it's fairly random where the AI goes, but they'll focus on acquiring castles/towns if they're able to. The best option is to keep some troops and a hero in a castle. This might be enough to dissuade them; other times keep your main hero close by and bait them if they're close enough. Then chase after the rest; they might have taken a town by then.
In Greater Glory, there might be some artifacts guarded by dragons elsewhere, but at the point of gaining troops, it's a time waste to go out of the way for that rather than your castle.
Hope this helps.
It'll bug me, but noted.
I was checking the leaderboards with regards to where the runs start. Turns out the videos to some aren't available anymore, regardless whether they're from Twitch or YouTube.
Should these runs stay on the boards for legacy sake, or taken down? I have verified (most of) them previously, but are they still viable if there's no proof, especially if they rank 1st?
Some asked a similar question a while back in the HoMM I forum. https://www.speedrun.com/hommi/thread/og1fy
Timing isn't strict here as other games; runs haven't been close enough where a standard starting position is required, let alone re-timing. I recall some runs have (re)started at where you suggest; current 1st place for Dungeons and Devils does this. There haven't been complaints about bad starts otherwise; it's mainly an honor system at this point.
As for my opinion, an individual scenario can start after its first text box, or at the selection screen if there is none. For campaigns, however, runs should start at least at selecting the campaign's portrait. Inputs are required to select the starting bonus and to skip the story cutscene, so the timer should start before that.
Don't think of resetting as a waste of time; other games go through precise strategies for the most optimal RNG, ex. Pokémon. If the best run starts before the main menu or from a restart on the first scenario, then so be it.
Category is now ready for runs to be submitted to.
Hi, could someone link this category to Heroes of Might and Magic III and modify their Game Type? Someone asked for the category and has runs this time. https://www.speedrun.com/hommii
HoMM III: In-Game Days Category as a Category Extension. https://www.speedrun.com/hommiii_in_game_days
I've been asked by an admin to remove the In-Game Days category page for inactivity. I'll ask to add it again when some runners have agreed to a ruleset, and then submitted runs.

I'll try again to request a modification page for an In-Game Days leaderboards as a Category Extension. The main leaderboards here would get too cluttered with another category for the same maps and campaigns.
The other issue for ranking runs is whether to use the example provided by @Salut or if using milliseconds is sufficient; example is a run that is 01:15:16.050 for 50 days. I see issues using either method (basically an overflow of 999; can a run be submitted over 1,000 hours?), so I'll leave it up to runners to decide. We can figure out the ruleset once the page is up.
Oh wait, I'm supposed to create a new webpage and then ask a site moderator to link it to this page. I think this worked differently in the past, which is why I hadn't done it back then.
Ok, the webpage is up. Please post on the stickied thread for a ruleset to agree on. https://www.speedrun.com/hommiii_in-game-days
Hi, I believe the run should start when 'Okay' is clicked after choosing the campaign. HoMM 2 starts after the 'Campaign' button due to being able to choose which side to start on; HoMM 3 starts before the first map of campaign due to community agreement (as in start the timer where everyone else started), and that ruling isn't that strict anyways. Though now that I think about it, all cutscenes for both games are (technically) in runs as they require user input to skip. HoMM 1 has none, so it should be fine after the 'Okay' button in the main menu.
I'll update the rules; this game hasn't really been active at all, so I've never thought of this. And I just noticed there weren't rules written in the first place. Oops.
