Perhaps the best course of action is to separate the rankings between Full Game runs and IL runs and then rank them within the two categories by themselves to give players with different preferences a chance to excel in either category

WalesZigZagGamer6 years ago

See while I believe the numbers should be tweaked here like for example combo challenges are actually fairly easy to obtain and there is a literal very easy cap to the best time the game allows with them that getting a 1st place doesn't mean quite as much so therefore they shouldn't be as highly regarded, however I don't believe a 100% Story Mode should be any more highly regarded than a single arcade run because the competition is higher on those runs with more people interested and the time is increasingly more difficult, on top of that I don't believe players should be punished because they don't have the free time to participate in the longer runs that may take 1/2/3 or more hours.

Having a 1st in alot of the full game runs aswell currently means very little as there's not enough runners to really gauge what times really are possible and rewarding so many points purely to the guy who has the most free time feels a bit rubbish. I feel like Arcade full runs should be worth a bit more they're still longer more intense runs as are the 100% story modes but if time is a major factor in how players are ranked it simply says to them if you do not have much time on your hands you are not welcome to be a top player at the game.

I think all runs should be encouraged one way or another but to outright priorities runs based on time is also exclusion of players who cannot participate or simply choose not to as runners seem to either favour one type of run over another, just because someone enjoys longer runs doesn't mean the person who does not should be ranked lower. Like I said the longer runs do bring their own level of extra skill to the table and should reflect that but I don't think it should be a key factor at making them more rewarding runs.

I just watched your guys runs and damn I gotta say Tyler you had clean pressure on your run but the Kid Buu you made a mistake and lost a fair chunk of time chasing him.

But I’m actually surprised at the beerus run from ginger it looks really fast

Well I see you just got a 4:12 Tyler which is another time drop and it’s quite an impressive jump at this point I haven’t watched the run yet but I see it on my YouTube sub box, I look forward to understand what happened here

I thought about perhaps bringing things like combo challenges and full game runs into their own point system but alas it’s a lot of work right now, but I do agree and I think when my time is free again perhaps after work tomorrow or on the weekend I’ll redo how certain runs are ranked and have a more sensible point system

This is a thread to show who's preforming the best and running the most! I hope this thread encourages people to try new runs and attempt better times, move up the rankings and see how you place in the community among others!

Full Game Runs WR = 10 points 2nd = 6 points 3rd = 4 points 4th = 2 points 5th = 1 point

IL Runs WR = 5 points 2nd = 4 3rd = 3 4th = 2 5th = 1

Rankings as of 17/03/2018

1st: Tyler_Ry74: 202 2nd: CraigThePunk: 52 3rd: ZigZagGamer: 44 4th: GingerSocrates: 32 SuperLinkGod: 30 LaceyRTSB: 28 Martinez: 28 Daniel_1RD: 24 AquaBlake: 24 Skuzzzy: 4 Topaz: 2 Kempy619: 1

Personally I was hoping you would be up to it Tyler you seemed like the most qualified as a player with what seems like the most activity assisted with your Time Zone not matching up with our EU time zone so it's nice to have 2 EU people on and 2 NA Region mods.

I assume the air heavy doesn't give you a hard knock down because that always seemed like a big time loss. Gohan is definitely the hardest hitting character in the game for sure but the god characters are not far behind by any means, i'm curious if maybe Rose or Beerus have potential as their damage numbers are on par with God Vegeta too.

As for load times on PC are not actually that improved from console from what i'm told and realistically I've thought if it makes a huge difference whether or not we should do something about that, from playing Xenoverse 2 I had great times on Xbox but when switching to PC my times shot up and it almost felt unfair to those who can't compete on PC, but the big thing about PC is the fact you can increase the FPS which made alot of animations faster and various things but on DBFZ it's locked to 60 on PC as it is on console so as far as that goes it's on an even ground.

Sub 4 is possible for sure but fight 1 is something we've pretty much perfected, a 290 on Goku now is a good time and a 291 would be near perfect in terms of the limits of the game or at least our strategies, however even with us perfecting fight 1 we've got maybe 4-6 seconds to save on that fight and that's generous, the later fights do attempt more "fuckery" though and try to block more or attack more or will just move past the player instead of landing conveniently in front of them so I really believe atm alot of the time that can be saved to achieve Sub 4 is in the AI and not the player, the player CAN also improve strategies but I personally don't believe we can do much more atm to improve 22 seconds off the time without AI being incredibly fair to the player.

Like I said maybe trying other god tier characters might be the solution of perhaps DLC will be the answer to the problem other than that I can see the run becoming more RNG based and therefore better times taking longer to improve not due to the player but due to the game itself.

Still it is early days and I could easily look back at this post when we somehow achieve 3:50 or something crazier!

Thanks, yes we would like someone who has some time to help approve runs and is willing to help mod, further more I think we will like a mod with a time zone that’s different to our own to help runs get approved at all times however this is not our biggest priority only that you would be happy to help and time to help also some knowledge of the runs of course

WalesZigZagGamer6 years ago

Now it’s not something I’ve looked at in depth yet but Tyler’s recent 4:21 with SSB Vegeta just raises some curious questions as he states Sub 4 might be possible and it got me thinking!

With current strategies and perfect AI RNG and player skill can we possibly get Sub 4 without doing anything different? We easily have 10-15 seconds to cut off from the run at this point but with the RNG of how the AI behaves will we see a perfect run?And will a perfect run with current strategies allow for a sub 4 or will we be in a situation like many combo challenges where we can only get fractions away from it but unable to achieve it.

Part of me believes Sub 4 is possible with everything on your side but the reality of getting a run so perfect and clutching it out yourself seems like something I don’t think we will see for quite some time.

We will see it one day I believe and it may be quite possibly the best Snake Way run we will ever see, however DLC is on its way and may make sub 4 less of a pipe dream and more of an obtainable reality what do you guys think? Are you up to the grind of getting sub 4 or do you think the time is already tough to lower?

I believe that no matter how well a run goes from my own level of play I find the barrier to breaking WRs is simply the AI finding ways to slow me down and that’s why I feel the time no longer depends on team setups and combos we use but more on manipulating AI behaviour

WalesZigZagGamer6 years ago

L L M M DF H jump LLL there’s various combos you can do with Gohan but this is the quickest and highest damage rotation, if you get the rapid punch animation from the light string you’ll do less damage for some reason so you only want the first 2 lights rather than do 3 lights into mediums also the 3rd hit of lights animation is really slow

So this doesn’t necessarily need to be a thread as I’m sure everyone has seen or will see but the latest update has added 3 options at the end of an Arcade mode run these are to return to character select, return to course select or return to lobby, the loading times of returning to the lobby and then re entering was pretty huge but now for people doing arcade normal/hard or 100% can now simply return to course select and save probably a minute or more on their runs easily!

Also the update stated “Improved Arcade Mode” as it’s own thing, not sure if this is just referring to the different options at the end of the run that were added but that is listed separately so I’m curious if much has changed in Arcade mode as Snake Way appears to be no different

WalesZigZagGamer6 years ago

Riiight okay it is every fight, that does make more sense

WalesZigZagGamer6 years ago

No I believe 100% is just meant to be all 3 arcs on normal and then all 3 arcs on hard Daniel knows better though but I believe those are the requirements

WalesZigZagGamer6 years ago

I'll probably do a run on Xbox but PC has massively improved load speeds and that makes a huge time difference in speed runs, just another world record for me to get ;)

WalesZigZagGamer6 years ago

Buying DLC on xbox first for fun then i'll run it on PC later, too much competition on DBFZ atm

WalesZigZagGamer6 years ago

I understand that Blake it is a bit sad to be forced into certain teams on FGs but that's also the nature of how to run them usually for example running MKX ladder means you 100% have to pick Blood God Kotal which is a bit boring but the real fun of those runs are just improving as a player to cover any sort of time delay the AI can try to throw at you and lock them down and open them up as fast as possible.

Yeah Tyler I thought you did to be honest looking at how you did runs, I like the combo runs but sadly it just becomes redundant eventually when everything is 100% optimized as you possibly can, I find snake way my favourite for the same reason when attempting longer Arcade runs I end up having a great time but eventually i'll have massive mistakes near the end because AI suddenly decides to be smart and dodge everything under the sun, feels like such a long waste of time as opposed to a short 5 minutes for snake way.

Just curious to know what run is everyone’s favourite? I think for myself I’m enjoying Snake Way more than anything, unlike the Combo challenges it allows for lots of competition and lots of very small optimisations bringing some amazing competition while also being a short run so it’s easy to run it in short bursts.

How about all of you? What runs do you enjoy best and why?
