You did all the right things trying to contact the mod the way you did, but the Mod is the only person running the game, which almost certainly means there's no need to create more categories within the leaderboards. It would be nice if @Dugongue would respond to you, but I can almost guarantee you that he would arrive at the same conclusion I did.
https://www.speedrun.com/games#platform=GCN%2CWii&sorting=activePlayers&direction_sort=on This link will show you all of the games available for Wii/Gamecube. Play something you can tolerate seeing over and over again! Good luck!
I wanted to put an open invitation for anybody sitting on the fence thinking "Man, I really want to learn a new game for the 12 Hour Challenge(July 27-29, 2018), but I just don't know what to/unmotivated to learn."
Go no further, @speedman @FuzzyGames and I will be learning Final Fantasy 4 Paladin% ( https://www.speedrun.com/ff4#Paladin_SNES ) since it has a healthy amount of runners AND a handy dandy beginner's guide (cue the horns) ( https://www.speedrun.com/ff4/guide/vg8o7 ). As an added bonus, that Sunday(or Monday July 30th depending on my hotel's Wifi strength) we will be having a race for bragging rights to see who learned the game better.
Any/all of you are more than welcome to join us ( noob discord: https://discord.gg/ZNYZuRp). If you aren't sure what the rules are for the challenge, it's simple. You have up to 12 hours during July 27-29th to learn the run as thoroughly as possible, honor rules apply, don't cheat and go over your allotted time! Afterwards, we'll have a good old fashioned race to decide a winner.
Hope to see you grinding this classic out with us, and you never know, you might fall in love with the game and learn the rest of it.
Good luck with the contest, hope somebody crushes the game!
I think this falls under a similar umbrella to using turbo controllers for console speedruns.
Izzet, you an MTG player by chance? Pick a game you can stand to stare at for a long time and see the beginning of the game over and over again.
Howdy, what game's are you planning on getting into?
Welcome to the crew, ask if you need any help and we'll point you in the right direction!
Leny, forgive some of the. . . let's say members that use less social and intellectual skills. It's best to contact the moderator(s) of the game you are interested in. Moderators are required (to the best of my knowledge) to have social media linked as a way of communication so if the current Mod is inactive on the site, check their social media accounts.
In the extreme case that you can't reach them (example: I've posted in the game specific forum AND attempted to contact on social media and have had response in over a week or two) then refer to this link https://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/63nr7
Welcome back to the crew!
If your concern is growth, consistency and content trumps all. The best speedrunner in the world has no audience if his stream schedule is spotty and inconsistent, so I would certainly say stream something over nothing.
That said, do what you enjoy and develop a community. I was exclusively speed running games, then decided I wanted to learn Chess. I started streaming the learning process and now it takes up about half my streaming hours. My crew loves it! So I say diversify as long as that's something you want to do, don't chase the viewers.
Welcome to the crew Arq, Goof Troop was a well made game, I remember it when I was a kid.
Welcome aboard! Stuart Little, was it a good game? I can't say I'v ever seen that one. Obscure games are great!
It'll be instant gold splits when you do, what a motivating factor!
Don't let them deter you @drybloxman your welcome you with open arms into the Street Fighter 2 Game Boy community Kappa
Your keybindings need adjusting I'd say, but with minimal experience with Emuhawk, I couldn't tell you how to :(
SMW is a fantastic game in general and one of the most competitive speedrun games out there, good choice. Which category do you normally play?
Welcome to the crew!
Looks like a pretty fun game. https://www.speedrun.com/Mighty_Bomb_Jack
I was going to recommend Panic Restaurant, but you already discovered that. I sadly haven't learned many NES games, but the common ones seem to be Mario 3, Chip and Dale, Castlevania and, if you want a bit of difficulty Zelda 2. Good luck on your runs.
Street Fighter II Game Boy is a fantastically bad game to speed run. After you learn your inputs it's almost always dictated by RNG. I love the grind though.
