Post its contents so that it is possible to tell what's wrong. Otherwise all I can say - you did something wrong.
Doom II UV Speed ILs have been restored with correct times.
Rules got adjusted to fit into same area as UD.
it requires sr50 and precise lineup, can't really give more detail
Not quite get but you mean by "So I suppose my only question is how I can record a demo without skipping out on the beginning of the video footage. If the fact I have no demo isn't an issue, then no worries."
If you record a demo you can just submit it as a file, so that I can watch it. If you want to create your video based on your demo, I'd recommend setting up prboom+ for that purpose, better a separate one. Can't really help you how "-viddump" works, but you can google it, there should be good guide on how to make it work. This will basically output your demo as a video with nothing missing.
Exactly what Ekorn said. I'm basically the only active moderator here and when I don't have time to review runs - I don't. On average a week is good estimate for something longer than 5 minutes, cause I can't just breeze through it during coffee break.
Hi, Zero-Master asked his episodic demos to not be hosted here, so for future reference - don't submit it on his behalf, thanks! Want to see his and other doom runs go to https://dsdarchive.com/
Episode Runs After fiddling with LBs I did clean everything up (hopefully with nothing missing / being wrong). Timings got adjusted, but I still felt like it is a bad look to just have timers be like that, without being able to change their names, so I added Timing Type variable (4 of them in fact, cause I only wanted individual episodes, besides Sigil, to get affected), which represents what column (IGT "CN timing" or RTA "Episodic timing") you had in mind.
All runs in those episodes have been defaulted to CN (which is what most of them have been ran in mind anyway). However you can now have 2 runs in same episode, as this variable's values don't obsolete each other.
I know it is also a bit counter-intuitive that main timing is now "full-episode", yet main value is CN, but that's a process that has to start somewhere. New dsda will have that variable eventually, so I figured we shall stick to it here aswell.
Episode Runs I've been doing this before, but I'm actually gonna cement it into a ruleset and doublecheck all runs in upcoming days:
- In-Game Time column contains your time up to map 7
- Real Time column contains your time up to map 8 Reason that is even a thing is due to a fact that compete-n rules, despite being old, and questionably silly, still posed comptetition and are posing up to this very day. It is also impossible for this website to make time columns called differently as then I'd rename RTA to "Episode timing" and IGT to "Compete-N timing". Fact is - both of these columns ARE VALID. Getting WR by ANY of these measurements is a VALID achievement that you should be proud of and it is up to you which one you run. Splitting board more however is not very smart idea, so this is the best solution that can be had.
UPDATE. Additionaly, to stray a bit further away from prehistoric ruleset, default comparison is now Real Time (read "Episode time"). Rules have been adjusted accordingly.
No, info is correct, new dsda counts up to map 8, but old rule still haven't been changed, since it is long and complicated topic. I'll ask in discord on what people think will be better for srcom, but for now old compete-n timing is being used.
I won't be creating categories that nobody runs. Last time I checked you needed zdoom or similar ports to be able to play all episodes from the menu, cause otherwise sigil replaces e3 in menu. Zdoom and similar ports are not accepted - hence there's no category. You still can run it if you want, but multi-episodic runs of UD is not something that is even considered a real run by community, as historically you couldn't record a demo that will contain all of them and be compatible with vanilla ports.
Hey everyone, I'm currently busy with personal stuff, so there is a natural line of submissions queued right now. I ask you to be patient as I will verify all that as soon as I get spare minute. This might also be the case for upcoming week or two, after that everything should be back to "normal".
In a meantime I recommend you practice more and start doing actual runs for actual leadearboards - https://dsdarchive.com/ Bear in mind that recent flood of "low-effort" demos lately is unprecedented as people generally weren't posting their PBs, and mostly were posting WRs only. So if you feel like WR is out of your reach but you did your best - post it in corresponding thread. Note that PB thread is a SEPARATE thread on doomworld.
Have a nice day, stay healthy.
https://dsdarchive.com/files/ports/85/crispy-doom-5.6.4-win32.zip download here, put whereever you want, then put doom.wad / doom2.wad or whichever ones you plan on playing there. Those you get in steam/gog and is the only part that's needed.
Yes, your complevel is correct. Which exact part of trick (and which version of a trick) are you trying to do? If you are doing rocketlauncher one, then I can't really help, you can try going to discord and asking depr4vity there. If you are trying to just walk through the wall, then your angle might be slightly off, try doing it without monsters, just figure which setup works for you the best. If you are having problems with pressing the button, then it is just precise, so gotta learn the angle.
Ah, I guess I should've responded here, but we talked that over, with basically same suggestion
Doom is historically run on different difficulties. Also this is just a subset of doom speedruns, which is easy enough to maintain true, without messing everything up. Main website is still https://dsdarchive.com/ You can still submit those to dsda, but they will be put in a bunch with "Other" demos.
you were annoying and was unable to understand simple stuff and got kicked.
for every port recording is done the same way, except first thing you type is different. in your case that would've been chocolate-doom and not prboom-plus or not crispy-doom
but general idea was better - there are more convenient sourceports and all "guides" that exist generally are for those ones.
everything else works the same, you can also google and not ask questions https://www.chocolate-doom.org/wiki/index.php/Command_line_arguments
if it is still hard to you, I can't help.
Since PC doom speedruns for srcom isn't actual hub of doom speedrunning I thought about removing "Discord" link from the left and putting in down here. It is small thing, but at least I HOPE you will read this post before going anywhere and as a result won't ask questions about srcom there. If you have them - leave them here. If you have questions about doom speedruns - ask there, BUT read #about_this_discord and #help first. Much appreciate that. https://discord.gg/zNxGGKQ
02.03.2020. As you might've noticed ILs for 2 categories are back by now. That's it. More won't come. Same sort of ILs will be filled for Doom 2 and eventually Final Doom, but it is a long work. As for why - my short response will be - it's not worth it. If any of you really care for corresponding categories and ILs, please go to doomworld / dsda. Creating more will create more "dust" on this leaderboard which isn't aiming to be full doom speedrunning scene and will never be, due to how limited srcom is for doom needs. For more detail, check this thread listed one post above.
Starting today I will be retroactively removing all runs that don't follow current ruleset, even though in the past the opposite was stated. That is being done to shape things into unified look.
Discord link will be moved from "Discord" tab on srcom into forum post. It is done to help strengthen out the fact that it isn't "Srcom doom speedrunning discord" and is "DSDA/Doomworld discord".
