I have put in around 30 hours so far after my casual playthrough trying to break this game and have found quite a bit more than is currently documented online, such as a way to reset character level without resetting progress, making level ups incredibly cheap at the cost of one quit out every level reset. I'm currently working on routing all bosses, but I suppose tomorrow I could make a video showing off everything.
As for patch version, I think current patch is going to make a difference in all bosses due to the creed rewards bug, but I don't think it matters at all for any% or any% (no oob).
Yes, I'm aware that you can transfer positions between characters, but I fail to see how this would further trivialize the run unless it was also allowed to use previously created characters.
In the rules on the leaderboards here, it states: Use one character for the speedrun. No Cross-character wrong warping.
The intent behind this is probably to prevent people from using previous characters to warp around in the middle of a run, so I would think it could be covered just as well with something like: All characters used must be created within the time of the current run.
I am not sure if there are any situations where using multiple characters would be faster, but I just feel that it is arbitrary to ban the use of them. If I am wrong in my assumption of the intent behind these rules, please let me know.
Anyone here have access to the initial PC release? Looking into this as a speedrun and saw this in the 1.0.0.4 patch notes:
- Fixed work menu exploit allowing one turn-in to earn all turn-ins
I'm thinking that if that also increases devotion level as normal, you could use this to obtain weapons/spells that you need high devotion levels for without ridiculous amounts of grinding.
Edit: I was able to find the patch I wanted on my own, if anyone else wants it I can send it to them if they provide proof that they already have a legal copy of the game.
To my knowledge, there is currently no way to TAS this game
For Gaige any%, 1.1 is significantly faster than the alternative 1.3. All the other characters can be run just as quickly on 1.3 as on 1.1, though. Any UVHM run (And Krieg any%) uses patch 1.8.3, so those are also fine to do without 1.1.
You will need these files to get onto 1.3, as I don't think the patcher has it working at the moment. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ykll47xkj8c5m8h/1.3.1_DLC.zip?dl=0
Some people have reported success from just patch, verify game cache, patch, verify game cache, etc for a couple hours if you have the patience.
Card 10 does seem pretty ridiculously out of the way, so I suppose this is irrelevant
It's definitely a grey area, seeing as it doesn't take you out of bounds or place you in a block at any point, but it is clearly unintended behavior. Of note is that this does skip card 28, so if this was allowed and incorporated into the route you would need to get whatever card you're currently skipping over. Would that be faster, do you think?
If you jump through the staircase adjacent to the wall in the same dungeon, you end up in his arena without having to do the full dungeon. What's the stance on this for glitchless? Same process as what you mentioned here, but you don't go OoB at any point.
The perfect Gaige save file is meant to simulate starting a new game and randomly getting perfect guns, to make it so you don't need to grind for a Diaub. As BAR is not disabled by default on new characters, this is not allowed. What you can do is make a new profile and never spend any tokens on it, then just show at the end of your runs that you have no benefits from BAR.
There is skill point duping now. If you manage to spend a point right as the host quits or as you're entering an area transition, you will get the skill but keep the point. This isn't consistent enough to change the route at all, but if it happens it could in theory speed the run up a little bit. I think the kick method of invulnerability might be new since then as well, but I'm not certain. If someone is kicked while reviving someone else, the person revived will be invulnerable. This doesn't grant XP like the res method, but it's still used in the run to make the Maya player invulnerable after getting infinite ammo.
As for routing changes, nobody has really done runs of four player since the Bad Maw farm strat became a thing so it hasn't been tested there, but it's faster by a good bit in solo and two player, so it's probably faster in four player as well. My only concern there would be trying to kill four player health/damage cars in the dust with the Lascaux.
Uploading to youtube is fine, there just needs to be some form of video proof for decent times
I've reuploaded the patcher, seeing as the old link is dead. http://www.mediafire.com/download/z54fg7du0o0wmyd/Borderlands_2_patcher.zip
There's another patcher linked on the SDA forums near the bottom. Haven't used it myself, but the guy who posted it also made the patcher for TPS so it should work fine.

I see no reason not to allow customization of settings. Timer settings should make no difference as it's easy to finish rounds within 30 seconds anyway, but setting less rounds in 1v1s should save a little bit of time.
Use cheat engine to find an address that is consistently a single value on load screens, then make an ASL that says the game is loading when that address is the loading value. You'll probably need to find the offset for the value as well. There's plenty of in depth tutorials out there for finding offsets in CE.
It can be done, but nobody has done it yet to my knowledge. A lot of people split in different spots so it would be difficult to make a splitter that works for everyone.
Edit: I found this, but the split locations seem a bit odd and I haven't tested how well it works https://mega.nz/#F!zJcn0QDS!dHXwqCFdEBtTSlZ2sFHTTg
