Due to the length of the runs, verifying and timing runs will take much longer than the other games (up to 2-3 weeks, or longer).
Moreover, the details of timing have been updated in the rules and it would be incredibly** helpful if you could time the LRT of your runs before submitting.
all good, just for future reference
the tutorial isn't required for all missions so I started timing when stage fright loaded in. Also, splash screens such as this one are counted as loading so can be removed from your LRT.
If you choose to cut your loading screens, include your real time in your submissions.
It's a good question! I would end the timer after you finish the last level, as even then all the levels are gold and the game is already seen as 100% in the title screen. So what you did was good.
I like it but have a few changes/suggestions:
- a new save file shouldn’t be required for 2 and 3 for continuity with the original leaderboards, as well as certain strategies that work best with a partially/fully completed save (such as the scuba mask in House Call)
- for timing it’s better to time it with the original w/o loads timing that is present in the original leaderboards to account for specific disparities with the real IGT and the card time (for example in rising phoenix the card time ends when the elevator falls, not when the level entirely ends). It’s also overall more precise and adds an added difficulty of navigating the menus/home area quickly
- I don’t want to ban out of bounds skips as they’re an important part of the strategy and save a lot of time. Most of them don’t actually abuse the guardian too much and don’t require a massive playspace.
mainly I want to keep these rules in continuity with the original rules of each of the three games.
the game leaderboard for multi game runs is approved and a very basic page is set up currently (i’m a little busy rn so haven’t gotten around to polishing it or starting rules discussion).
https://www.speedrun.com/I_Expect_You_To_Die_Series
Also tragically, the request for a game series was rejected
probably the IEYTD discord: https://discord.gg/ieytd
I'll request the game leaderboard for these multi-game categories. As for the series, I believe 2.2 has requested it.
that all sounds really cool. how does this work exactly tho? Would these categories appear on the series page after requesting it?
load removed time is the time of the run itself without the load times
yes. although it's important to make sure it's actually the end of the level, for example with death engine i wait until the music ends.
At some point I might actually just make a video detailing how I time loads for ieytd1 and 2 to clear up any confusion tho
yeah I now realize the rules were a little vague and stated that only after pressing continue was load time. In reality, the way we've been timing is that any time there is a solid color between levels is load time (with the exception of the start of first class for some reason)
hmmm alr those are some good points. I think your solution is fair, i'll just double check if 2 seconds is a good penalty time. Also, my only concern rn is with the psvr version of the game in case the skip is different on that platform, but idk anybody with a psvr to test.
oh yeah also i retimed your most recent run ashen and its like 7:46, nice job!!
wow I'm impressed you managed to grab it, nice job! (i tried for a couple minutes and failed lol). Anyway, I feel a penalty on the quest version is kinda scuffed and could be abused if someone does it perfectly on pc.
I feel like separating quest and pc would get confusing as well (also bc idek what psvr is like??). What if we created a separate category for the first class skip with the understanding that yes, technically the quest has an inherent advantage. This category would be for both pc and quest then, even tho it gives a 2 second+ disadvantage to pc, but with no added penalties (2 seconds isn't that long (?) ).
What do you think of this, and do you have any more suggestions?
