@nszme213 I'd love to see you run the game! WR is pretty free right now.
On Samsung S7, I use the native recording app, Game Screen Recorder, or DU Recorder to record my games. Each has its perks. However, Game Screen Recorder is the only one that I've seen that can record longer than one hour. For the timer, I use a simple app called floating timer. It can get in the way of your playing, so make sure its in a good spot before you start recording.
On Amazon Kindle, I use SmartPixel to record, upload to Facebook, download, and add a timer in a video editing software called ShotCut. I'm not sure if this specific game is on that device, though.
If you have a different way of recording and timing, please share!
@ShikenNuggets Nice idea for disabling/enabling all on the WR graph. I posted that idea a year ago: https://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/g79jt/42#7xwjd
On the topic of the "report issue with run" idea -- it's a nice idea! However, I don't think it's a great use of the dev's time. They might as well implement a whole messaging system instead. Because, if I'm a mod of a reported run, I may want to respond to the user saying why the current timing is correct. And the user may want to respond to that. So a full messaging system would be the way to go.
Since our site devs aren't implementing that any time soon, I do think it's enough to message a mod in Discord or on a LB forum, and it's up to the mod to be active and respond. Cheers :D
Edit 07/27/2023: WR Graph All Categories Toggle is more or less fixed with the update allowing us to select a single category. Thanks!
Let's do it this way -- post a run using this strategy and I will find a good way to change timing rules accordingly :)
Hey yall -- Cryojester and I have been playing with the rules to find a good start and end time for runs. We will now be changing the rules to start time on the first frame that the first word bubble pops up with at least one letter ("T") in front of the witches shop. Time will end after the witch's final word bubble disappears. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/430472247610703882/499045376167378969/unknown.png?width=720&height=408
@ShikenNuggets Great idea! I mentioned that a few months back in a different form: https://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/g79jt/56#2szjw
My idea includes having custom checkboxes to make sure people wouldn't just skim over the "please ensure..." message. For example: I'm submitting a run video with audio [ ]
Also what's the best way to get a forum post link? Update: Thanks HowDenKing/Mitsunee! Update 2: We should have a button for that instead of a right click function
Edit 7/27/2023 Thanks for adding a button to copy forum post links!
Loving the new Audit Log. Thanks for update!
Oh... If your game is in French I may wait to add them. Wouldn't want to put them in wrong :)
I also recommend ShotCut! Free and easy to use :D
If any cars have been added in future updates (non-temporary cars only), let me know where I should add them in!
@DiggityDingDong, great point. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but there's no need to respond so harshly. The bandwagon is one thing, but I think the main issue is poor constructive criticism.
My first post in this forum was nearly two years ago. I thought it would be cool to integrate Disqus into speedrun.com. The idea was not great, but the responses I got were horrendous and made the speedrun community seem close-minded and rude. We've come quite some way since then, but really, we still have a lot of work to do. There are ways to constructively criticize ideas instead of tearing them down immediately. Instead of acting like strangers behind keyboards, pretend the person is right in front of you. I invite you all to change your language to be a little more accepting of new ideas, because we often look rude and unaccepting to new community members, so they are less likely to stick around and share. This doesn't mean you have to agree with the idea -- just be mindful that the person who wrote it has feelings and probably would like to be included instead of shunned.
One thing that I find great for constructive feedback is starting with something you liked about the idea, then moving into your criticism, preferably with minimal negatively charged statements. It helps lessen the blow. Get into the practice of it and this forum will look a lot brighter soon. Cheers :)
Good points all around! Organization of this page was tough and definitely needs work.
Post-competition, I'd like to reorganize leadership on this page. @cros107, @drgrumble, @Wuzi, and @Ishigami were all appointed to be verifiers for the comp. Since the comp is over, I'll be removing yall from the board. You can ask to be reappointed if you'd like to help out :D D.E.M.O will stay on to help reorganize the leaderboard and @MrUppercaseT will also be added in. Yall can change whatever you see fit. It might be useful to start a Discord for this process or down the line to get new players started quickly.
As a basic rule, I'd recommend speedrunning each 100% level as a regular level, all the way until the end. Then right before the end, flip your phone and play the level upsidedown. Since a great speedrun includes collecting coins, you'll basically be efficiently collecting the most coins possible on each way. Just an idea! I hope someone tries it.
At the request of @Cytruss, I'm adding a web category. You can find the game here: http://www.gamesfreak.net/games/2-cars.html Please be sure to mark your run as emulated, since the web version is not created by Ketchapp.
Hey Eddy :) I also recommend using the Floating Speedrun Timer. It was created by one of the members of the Mobile Speedrunning Discord. If you are interested in the mobile speedrunning community, I recommend joining the Discord! Just click on "Discord" in the navigation bar on this page :)
Remember to read the rules carefully before submitting a run :D
Also Eddy, I accidentally deleted your friend request on Discord, please send it again if you get a chance
