Don't get me wrong, I've got plenty of stuff to run, I've just been busy with other stuff. I'll get back to Beyond the Yellow Brick Road eventually, it's just that my span of interest in things is not usually long lasting and unpredictable as to when it changes.

The result of a bad mix of being too curious, easily distracted, and there not being enough time in a day for everything.

Interesting, I didn't know about this glitch. I've meant to get around to running this game and even got a NG+ file setup for the boys at level 1, but I just got busy with other stuff.

I might see if I can pick up trying the run sometime, depends on how busy I am and how good my hands are feeling. Definitely wouldn't mind playing the game again!

I like calling it New Game Minus myself, but then again, I've yet to even speedrun the game.

My post has been eaten by the void twice now. The world really doesn't want me to weigh in my opinion on this, but third time's the charm.

I believe in second chances, as long as you give me the whole truth. And what I'm seeing here is somewhat not giving me the whole damn truth. So I'm not giving any more chances until I get the whole damn truth. Right now, I wouldn't trust Jaypin to moderate any games, and still wouldn't for a long time. A moderator needs to be trustworthy more than anything- their word needs to mean something.

This site is supposed to be the premiere site for Speedrunning. I know the hobby has opened up to a more casual audience over the years, you're talking to one of 'em, but that doesn't mean our standards have to change. A punishment is supposed to be an incentive to not do the wrong thing, but it has no effect if it's too weak. It's been 3 months and this insincere weaseling is not grounds for lifting it.

This site is host to a majority of the most contested World Records that exist. By allowing such a non-existent punishment, you're tarnishing the reputation of the site, and by extension, every run hosted on it.

You want to be the premiere place for speedrunning? Then hold yourself to a standard worthy of that title.

I apologize if this post comes across as slightly hostile. I am just rather annoyed that I have spent an hour trying to weigh in on this clusterfuck- I hope you can forgive me for that.

In addition to all of this, some games are just made in a way that doesn't lend itself well to defining IL's either. They'd end up being incredibly arbitrary and hard to make rules for, compared to games like GoldenEye which are strictly level based, have built-in timers, and guarantee what each player starts with.

That, and some of us just prefer full-game runs- a lot of it really is just a matter of preference. While you and other runners may enjoy shorter runs, there's just as many, (if not more, given the topic of this discussion,) that would rather have those longer runs.

I don't get much enjoyment from grinding tiny, super-optimized categories, even when I get an excellent time. For me, even 30 minutes is very short- I prefer runs to usually be about 2-3 hours. My enjoyment in speedrunning is the routing and the occasional mid-run improvisation, maintaining consistency as you roll with the punches the game throws at you.

I won't deny that the hyper-precise inputs of IL's are a spectacle to behold, it's just not my spectacle.

Yeah, the focus of the matter here is less on bots and more on their apparent declining interest in working with the community.

Though, I have to say what @vanillakittyxox notes is a bit of a problem. Being able to get DMs from basically anyone is an issue.

I might take a look into Matrix sometime, see if it's any good.
