I know this is an old thread but I happened to stumble across it while checking out the game, and I agree with @PB_Speedruns here. It's actually not pointless at all to have separate categories for emulator, for people who want to run the game but don't have the console exactly as Patrick stated. I myself would like to give it a shot but seeing you guys don't allow N64 emulators sets me, along with whoever else interested off from bothering.

But that's just my opinion, take it however you wish. Let me know if N64 emu is separated in the future :)

Really needs to be a feature for us mods to ban people from the boards we moderate. Have had cheaters and trolls in the past myself. Sucks you gotta deal with this D:

Hey, so I'm curious on a couple of things.

  • Level 1 IL This one is especially confusing. So timing ends on fade to black. In the run, there are two. One leaving the house, one getting on the roof. On the first fade, the timer on screen is 46 seconds. I'm assuming after retime, it was 44, but is...that where the IL ends? And then the next IL on the list is hospital? It seems to cut out the next part of the house entirely. I think the timing should end exactly where the current records run ends it on, which is on top of the house. I haven't looked deeper into the board, when I do I might or might not have more questions.

Thoughts?

@Meerkov There are a TON of games actually that have categories for cheats, so what you are saying is completely wrong. To add, he isn't even asking for is not anything related to using cheats in game. It's related to selecting specific levels to start specific runs, and to open up more category possibilities. I agree with what he is proposing, and hopefully a moderator sees this and is willing to set something like that up. I'd most likely run it if there was a shorter category.

This ones been known since the game came out. The Bethesda.net stuff is buggy and they have yet to fix it. Definitely not useful though, as all it does is cause the main menu to be invisible while in game, sometimes you can control DoomGuy while using the menu at the same time, sometimes it’s just controlling the menu. It’s a weird one.

If anyone happens to have issues capturing SPR on OBS, just make a new display capture source, name it SPR or whatever you want. Once done right click on it and go to transform, click edit transformation and enter the numbers where it says size, and OBS should capture SPR just fine once you tab back into the game. Though, here are MY config settings for the game. I do not know if this depends on your settings, so keep that in mind.

@similaun That one we knew about it was ruled some years ago to not be required so all good there. If you find any others, please make a separate thread as this thread is outdated and some of the rules Alexo listed off are no longer valid. (UV start requirements)

@Tailss55 We know that, that isn't the point though. The point is, the enemies CAN'T be shot, unless a Lost Soul is used to get the rocket to go upward and hit them with splash damage. They aren't in a position where Auto-aim can take over.

After deliberations/learning more about the situation, map 15 of TNT WILL NOT require 100% kills. Kill all monsters except those bs ones needing a lost soul. Thank you for bringing this to our attention :D

I have a mixed opinion about TNT 15, I personally want to require it since it’s possible to do, but at the same time that’s an awful method, though would make the run more interesting. I’ll get back to you on this one.

For map 23, if it legit is NOT possible to get 100% kills, then get whatever the percentage is without killing the impossible-to-reach monsters.

Correct. You'll have to submit any UV max runs on that map to the secret exit category. We can't remove the category because of the way the leaderboard is set up, so just ignore it's existence and submit it to the secret exit category.

If you are using OBS, it sounds like you have the window too big or something. Use game capture, then pick capture specific application, then pick Doom or Doom II whichever you are playing.

This has been asked before, the short answer is no. The long answer I'll copy paste from the last thread this was asked on:

It would literally be impossible to do a glitchless run in Doom, as things can happen that are considered a "glitch" or a "bug" and it be completely out of your control. Besides, the tricks in the game aren't difficult to do (mastering them is a different story) so just practice whatever tricks you are capable of doing, and route around the ones you can't/don't want to do.

I took notes as I was verifying your run.

Map 1 - Try to back up and go through the exit door as you did with the others.

Map 2 - Red key room can be a bit faster. Exit door open from the right side of it so the zombies (or at least 1) don't/doesn't see you, then you'll be able to strafe straight to the switch (see top runs for this)

Map 3 - Shoot the barrel when going through the second door. It gives you a small little speed boost if timed correctly, but more importantly it takes out the two zombies (sometimes the 3rd if unlucky) so they won't be in your way on the way back.

Don't bother with killing any enemies after the barrel bit, you are just wasting time doing that. Strafe past them. But kill the shotgunner in the hallway like you did. He's an asshole. Also try to watch top runs to see how they execute that bit, it will help you alot. Takes practice with the movement.

Map 4 - Movement a little erratic, but overall good job.

Map 5 - Strafe run more often. Overall good.

Map 6 - Stay out of that zombies site as often as you can. Every time he fires, that's close to a second gone. This map sucks. It's one of those maps where you can either be really good at it, or it fuck you over in more ways than one.

Map 7 - Rocket the pinky at the start. Try to have your rocket launcher out by the end of map 6 if you can. Rocket the pinky by the red key as well so you don't have to deal with it.

Map 8 - No glide?! ROOKIE. Lol jk overall good though try to have health as low as possible (easier said than done sometimes)

Overall very good run. Work on your movement, and try to avoid walls. Aside from all this, that is your next biggest time loss. Takes time and practice. Keep at it! You are doing great!

So I'm unsure if anyone here knows about this, I didn't see it in the forum here (unless I completely missed it) but I found a program called Cursor Lock that works really well with Manhunt, since it has an issue with the mouse going off screen.

Setting up a separate shortcut with Manhunt with cursor lock active will solve that issue, and it's awesome as hell.

Just simply install, tick the 2 boxes that say "Open" and "Lock" program, select the Manhunt exe in it's directory, click create shortcut and done.

1 Issue I have noticed though is sometimes cursor lock doesn't activate upon launching the exe, but exiting and re launching usually fixes it for me.

Hopefully this helps you guys! :D It helped me ALOT.
