If it was a fixed time then it would make sense but its not, some games remove it for that reason. Clair's prologue is not a fixed intro as the example used in which for games likes R3r and others they have no menuing or variance so that makes them more or less fixed time.
I can understand for some games to do that but its not really the same case to be made.
This has been known for many weeks now a lot of people are actively finding and evolving skips within the community discord server. There is plenty of wild stuff already found so if your interested to share or check out and see that stuff that would be the place.
The fights are timed within the game.... Also the game does not really support IL format like your suggesting that well so establishing and enforcing rules for something so miniscule is just adding tons of extra work to maintain and verify additional runs which don't really highlight or showcase the game in a way that makes sense on a Leaderboard level standing.
Like if you want to do stuff that like then go for it, but don't think we need to have things like that be listed or housed within the boards at least not at this current time.
The pictos that are listed are from what was investigated are disabled and not naturally found in the game. So its reasonable to think they were early versions of pictos that were early versions of some of the existing ones that are found in the game and or some that were used based on what they appear to do for testing purposes which are likely not balanced at all for the regular play experience hence why they are not allowed.
NG+ is not a mainline category and to have extra arbitrary rules that force people to only be able to do runs in X if they wish to run it limits peoples ability to participate in it should they wish so.
NG+ runs are far easier in +5 once you have a maxed file or at least a decent setup and build going because of the scaling stopping at that point. However if they only what to do it from NG+1 up to that point it is and should be up to the player to spend the time setting that up if they are aiming for optimal times.
Again its not a category that the vast majority of people will be running because of its nicheness compared to the other categories that do exist currently on the board.
Fundamentally NG+ runs for any game have always and will always be up and down when people run against others unless we were to enforce an arbitrary rule set that makes players only use a the exact same save file and setup and then that opens a whole other slew of things that will make running it and being verified even harder for people in general not to mention it will 100% shrink anyone's interest in running it and make it that much more pointless to be listed on the Boards here due to the nature of how this game handles NG+.
These are my thoughts on the subject having done NG+ runs before for many games and having to deal with such moderation for them over the many years.
Obviously there may be some exceptions that could be agreeable to exclude like that so you could still finish on actually beating the game without repeating already accomplished content/goals which just pads the time with no benefit.
But yeah what I was bringing up is that a vast majority of what I have listed inter links with other parts and is easy to track within the game it's self. Again having been around a lot of 100% categories in communities and having been learning some and routing for others I just wanted to share some insight on the topic.
By no means am I saying I'm correct because I'm looking at it objectively and in terms of what would make it a fun and doable speedrun without it being a slog and uninteresting to do or watch etc.
You would not be able to do this run for NG+ since you would already have the majority of the above and not feasibly possible in the spirit of things to also verify either and should always be done from a fresh New Game file only.
Some games for 100% would require going into a NG+ if that is possible, which for this game is for some possibility of miss-able or not available things on the list above which at the moment is to be determined as far as I know you should be able to do everything on a New Game file.
TDLR in how I would go about 100%;
- Collect all Pictos and Weapons regardless of level.
- Collect at least 1 of every item in the game.
- Collect all Wardrobe Outfit cosmetics for each Character. ( Only the ones that are obtainable in the game during play and exploration, this includes from traders and side quests etc. )
- Collect all of the Log files.
- Complete all Side Quests this includes, Requests, Companion Stories etc. ( Anything that has you needing to do something to get a reward in some fashion is considered a Side Quest. )
- Complete all Mini-games ( Such as the Gestral Beaches etc )
- Defeat all Bosses including the Chromatic versions. ( Anything with a Boss health bar at the top of the screen is considered a boss in this sense. )
- Unlock all Lumina's from Pictos. ( Need to have all Pictos available to be used as a passive for all characters )
- Unlock all Skills for all characters ( This includes Gradient Attack skills from Relationship Rank with Companions )
- Unlock all Shortcuts and all Zones/Areas in the game.
- Max Relationship with all Companions.
There is likely more things that I'm missing at this time when thinking about this but its def going to be a very lengthy run and check list to complete.
When it comes to how most games have handled items and equipment its been common to only need at least 1 of them regardless of what the level is or quantity of said item or equipment etc.
So from my view point having done work on hundos and having seen plenty of them that no you don't need to always buy out a shop or need to fully max a weapon, equipment etc unless its required to unlock or get something else that would count within your collection items etc.
My thoughts on 100% in games is usually anything that within the game itself is trackable for optional collectibles like logs bestiaries for games that have them and optional side content that once completed is no longer able to be done things like that that are very easy to see and now its been done in some way or another.
Max level and things in that nature are kinda arbitrary to 100% runs because there is not anything meaningful most times that would be worth including into it because its almost always just a time sink with no value or reward attached to it besides number can't go up any more.
Collecting things like Pictos and weapons would make sense along with the logs and Relation ships because because that have unlocks tied to them and are easily tracked within the game and hold value so things like character level only matter to a point for some games where its only to get w.e is needed for skills unlocked because again its an unlock.
100% runs have very different classifications in many games and sub-categories or adjunctions to them based on what is considered easiest to track and be able to proof since its a large task to do basically everything that is meaningful to do and know its been done.
It's for sure going to be one of those things where it will come down to how people look at what is considered a completion point to which there is not really any more things left to do but end the game that was trackable and worth the time to get that gives some sort of impact to the time spent vs a time sink that does nothing in the end like grinding levels which in most cases rarely do you ever see 100% runs include character levels past the point that it unlocks skills and abilities etc.
Just my take on it from the experience working on games with such things for a good while and looking at how things have been handled multiple different ways for games over the years.
Certainly something that peaks my interest at this time just slightly because I do enjoy long and comfy runs.
No everything people can and will do will be worth while on a competitive leaderboard to be tracked because they are usually very niche, and hold very little interest compared to more traditional runs. You can and should speedrun a game however you want but when it comes to havign things on a leaderboard it usually will come down to is this what people will be generally interested in for a competitive run. Should in some point more then a couple people be doing runs like this as an example, there may be a good possibility to revisit the request with the community and those that are current maintaining the boards to ask about the inclusion.
No Hit in general is and always has been looked at as primarily a challenge run which people are free to do runs of but they are not a strong competitive style of run for the purpose of leaderboards.
unfortunately can't do anything once your character stands up inside the vent because of the collisions all around you preventing anything from being done. Even if you manage to get out of the collision bounds you would fall through into the void, so like not useful for anything currently. I've had been trying to clip through the fence where the reactor/Power generator room is but its treated like a wall as well which in theory would be a nice skip if we can make it possible.
There was another instance were I've seen someone manage to clip upwards while against a wall when firing there gun which gave kick back but since they provided no details and only a very short clip of it happening with no additional context I've yet to even come close to replicating that as well. which if possible to replicate would also be another useful skip.
Please upvote and show your support to have them consider making this an option directly through steam. Currently as the game is being developed, atm speedrunning the game and wanting to track it via boards is ultimately pointless currently since its going to lead to some very exhausting management and changing constantly as the game evolves without being able to sort via certain build versions/patches.
Steam Discussion Post Currently the lasted version 0.5.0.4 removed the ability to drop progression/ key items or any items in general to skip and bypass for example the chase and stealth section which current voids and makes all existing runs prior to the change not currently able to be competitive and worth listing on the boards as is.
Items dropped are now move into the player bag once the cutscene triggers, which Understandably this prevents major issues for casual and general experience for the game. But I want to make sure this is known and hopefully the Devs will address this and support the hobby among other good reasons to have the ability to do so.
IGT btw on the results screen is reflective of RTA including all cutscenes times, the first chapter time will always include the currently unskippable elevator down cutscene when it starts, this is +10 secs on RTA when stopping personal timers once the cutscene triggers. TDLR IGT times are very accurate since the cutscenes are rendered in engine, this time however will not be accurate to RTA if the run was not done, deathless / without loads or restarts on checkpoints etc.
Extensions board in general is not kept nearly as up to date as the main board, so it would be helpful to point out things directly to us that needs to be looked at. I'm on here frequently enough I will see any messages or posts regarding things.
@GrittgamingIRE if you can send me the links to the runs your talking about I can fix that and update the map list. Good chance one of the other mods didn't notice it was not the current level and forgot to add it.
No production sounds incredibly ludicrously difficult if not impossible and probably won't ever see any traction for that reason.
No unit deaths is hard as it is and has been done but not by many people since its still very difficult and there is some very specific exceptions that would have to be made.
I'm very not keen on the idea of the other challenges because they really just kill the experience of the games in general but with some refinements or different ideology approaches they could be made into something interesting and maybe fun to do.
Just don't be expecting many people if anyone to be that interested in those challenge ideas.
