I did 1-3 FPG from a save state near the end To do it you just run on the platform for a few frames before you jump off, then you do sockfolder inputs
We'll see if this is allowed (hopefully it is BlessRNG )
Wait a minute this isn't allowed
"Unless otherwise stated in the goal or rules, runs are completed in 1st quest only. Some examples of banned 2nd quest usage would be using 2nd quest after beating the game to select a world for missed fireworks in the 144 Fireworks Race, using 2nd quest and selecting a world in All Coin Heavens etc" -barnowl
wen sub 8 seemed kinda hard but then sub 7 becomes free and sub 6 is possible
On pressing left:
Pressing left in the underground is actually the most optimal way (I mean, like you have to press left a certain amount in order to get the perfect underground, whilst not pressing left will objectively give a best underground possible of 1 frame slower than what is possible if you press left) to get 380, and it's usually more consistent and easier to do. To answer your question, pressing left at that specific pipe will NOT lose any time, and if done properly, can actually be faster than the no slow down method.
I don't think this is on the spreadsheets, but I am wondering, what if someone used the -3.27 pattern instead of the normal -7.12? Would this be allowed? (because I want to use this pattern, I seem to get optimal BBG like every single time)
Jump at the end in such a way that you just barely get past the corner of the block, then press left to slow down so that you touch the ground before entering the pipe
I'm wondering because mav did it twice in his run in -1 and -2, and I am wondering how to replicate this
Fast accel on NTSC saves 1-2 frames depending on how you do it on normal ground, but it saves a lot more in a level like 8-4 when you are in the 1st room or 3rd room (not sure how much)
In PAL attempting this actually loses time, and can only save time if you do it in the 1st room of 8-4.
Ok, thank you for the response
1-2 clip is actually something that could be considered as completely different than 420 blazit, because you don't have to press jump to get into the wall, and you have to press jump for more than 1 frame for 420 blazit which is much much easier.
I'm not sure how much more strict it will be if I am playing the any%, and getting a difficult time like 4:56, so I'm still not sure if it would be verified as rules get more strict and runs get more suspicious as they get more difficult
Thank you for trying to help though, I will be sure to include "Nestopia v1.40" because that's the Nestopia I'm using
I may be jumping to conclusions, but I have tried to do wrong warp both TAS and RTA, and I just get the same result where the screen scrolls past the part where it would usually drop you off, then it goes ALL the way back up to where you were individually. I'm pretty sure that I am doing the inputs correctly as well
@Mars02 It's most likely an accident @CuBored Or is it?
That looks pretty hard to do, harder than 8-1 FPG
The recent update (a week ago Keepo ) that said Nestopia runs do not require input files has brought some questions in my mind, such as how would moderators know what emulator you are playing on, if you had a layout like mine where you can't see the little bar of what rom you are using, what emulator it is.
So, after I complete a run or something, do I need to switch my scene to show that I am using the Nestopia emulator?
4-1 is the same thing as 1-1, but 1-2 clip would be nice to have a GIF of it. 8-3 FPG is the same inputs as 1-1, and the setup you can find in this post https://www.speedrun.com/smb1/thread/vboca 8-1 FPG would be nice to have a GIF of as well, learning how to do the mavpole, and even what optimal fast accel looks like
That's pretty cool, I just applied it and got a PB with it in 5 attempts Keepo I think that's pretty interesting I had always been playing the game wasting 5 seconds just by grabbing the shell as soon as possible instead of waiting.
