i just watched summoning salt (props to him) and i heard ,,if mario moves right facing left he goes faster'' so i wanted to see if this works
thats called a fast accel, it gets mario up to max speed faster. i think it saves 3 frames or less.
On the PAL version running on the ground is faster, but on NTSC or the mainly speedran version mario accelerates faster in the air backwards.
Fast accel on NTSC saves 1-2 frames depending on how you do it on normal ground, but it saves a lot more in a level like 8-4 when you are in the 1st room or 3rd room (not sure how much)
In PAL attempting this actually loses time, and can only save time if you do it in the 1st room of 8-4.
