Shotgun is better or comparable to spiral even for medium or long range? I also see the advantage of shotgun since it can be used in the air. Thanks for your answers!
Hi to you all! I'm learning this game and practicing JC, RG, routing, etc I have one question about the route. Why Spiral is never used? Even in DMD modes. I already saw the guide with the damage listed and spiral does 10 times the damage of the handguns and can be RG canceled (or switch cancelled but that's slower). I see that in normal difficulty makes no much difference, but in the latest DMD WR there are parts were is just shooting, and I ask if Spiral wouldn't be best for that (with RG cancel) DPS wise and even raise style faster and without penalty (I don't know exactly why, but spiral spam is not penalized and always raise style). In bloody palace runs is used, and I understand that bloody palace is mostly about damage optimization, but in NG is not used. I saw all the video guides from Simoteus but he doesn't say much about spiral. And second question. The damage tables says that Kalina Ann does 150 and 100 from smoke effect. This values stacks (250 damage for the direct target) or is separated (150 to direct target and 100 for the rest)? In advance, thank you for your answers and I hope you are fine. Thank you for your quick and complete responses! I will see those runners and try those binds. I was wondering exactly how DT, guns, and lock was binded to constant holding (because for me is easier to mash with keyboard). I only have x360 joystick and it's really uncomfortable to hold DT, Lock, JC, etc at the same time, because of the triggers. I wondered if keyboard maybe was better for me. Again, thank you!

it's just curiosity, because is the only reasonable thing that I think that can make you reject the categoty. You must pay or something, to the speedrun platform, to add categories? In that case, I really understand.
Hi Maxylobes. I think you didn't read the threads that I linked. Even admins/mods and famous runners in the RE scene, like Orchlon; added their vote for no knife category. Your argument doesn't beat the fact that is rare that they didn't included the extension category that most people requested; there's even a marked/pinned thread in the main boards (made by CursedToast), and in previous threads, a mod/admin said that bot categories will come (YossyHop). No knife is the most closer category to the original RE2, and REs in general. It's not just a challenge run; this is the only RE where the knife is so broken that is used in all boss fights. Even some runners said that they don't run the game because of the knife. It's really interesting to see the optimization that the no knife runs can have.
Knife only in this case particulary, is different of previous games; because the knife is really broken and even the any% runs use it in all bosses. It's contradictory negate it because of popularity, and doesn't add the category that had the most support in the first place (no knife).
Mmmm but in previous posts they said that the no knife will come soon. And like I said, there is more people talking about no knife than HG only. If it's about the popularity, no knife should have been added before HG only. Also, the no knife category is much more optimizable and dynamic than HG Only; and can have much more runs to aproach high optimization in the strats. I posted one of the first thread requesting it, and you (Jadusable) and others talk about no knife like a "mandatory" category (no one used that word, but various argue that is a really game changing, more than NG+), but the HG only was debatable. Hi. What about the no knife category? In the threads of the main and extension leaderboards, there is more people interesting in that category than the handgun only (I was surprised that you added HG only before no knife). With how broken and game changing the knife is, I think that deserves to be in the main page, but you decide.
Hi! I posted the original thread with this idea. I vote for no knife on bosses or enemies, like Orchlon. The defense use is like RE Remake and doesn´t broke the game (you have limited uses and need to kill the enemy to recuperate the item). Even a slash on a zombie or others enemies doesn´t seems to be the problem (and stop to slash enemies is slower). I think that Capcom should patch that the knife damage is tied to fps, but for now, this category can be useful. PD: I don't understand why we have "True ending category" and not this.
I think that handgun only is for other category, but is a good idea that was implemented in the original REs.
I'm glad that you like the idea. The knife really brokes the game and I personally think is boring to run because of that (and the runs are so optimized in this short time, after the game launch). The original REs needs plaining in ammo pick up and weapon chose when you speedrun; but here you stun the boss and spam knife 90% of the time, and the ones who doesn't abuse that are in disadvantage. I think Capcom needs to patch this, but meanwhile, another category can be helpful for who want to run in a more "honest" style. I don't think that the actual runners are bad or something (I'm more a casual speedrunner and I watch more runs than playing them), but the knife in this game really brokes the tactics and skills that the original REs speedruns show. The knife brokes the game bosses, even at 60fps. I propose this for main leaderboard or category extension (what you want), because I did not see this idea in previous threads. What do you think about it? Thanks.
Gracias por responder. Entiendo que no lo quieran agregar, pero es un tanto raro. O sea, hay pruebas de que se puede hacer sin ningún problema (vamos, no es el REORC que se buggea todo el tiempo); no es a modo de reto solamente, obviamente es un problema del juego y para que pase hay que buscarlo intencionalmente (rara vez pasa por accidente). Es incongruente como agregan el light mode o el New game+ que no cambia mucho las cosas y tampoco supone más desafío, pero no ponen un simple modo de luchar con Nemesis de forma justa y que pueda ser competitivo, porque obviamente el que use los bugs va a obtener mejor tiempo en igualdad de condiciones (ya que uses la estrategia o arma más eficiente sin usar los bugs, es cuestión de cada uno). Reitero, solo planteo agregarlo, no pienso que usar los bugs este mal para hacer speedrun y sé que en muchos speedruns se hace y también agrega un desafío y es interesante ver como los usan; pero me parece completamente lógico e interesante poner a prueba las habilidades de cada uno, al hacer un Nemesis% con combate limpio (no hablo de imponer desafíos como solo pistola, solo escopeta, sin curarse, etc; aunque existen en el RE2 por ejemplo). Justamente el video que compartiste de Moe es muy interesante, porque muestra como explota la mecánica de esquive, y como tiene que esforzarse con más habilidad en la lucha con Nemesis. Justamente el concepto de no usar los bugs que dejan quieto o bloqueado a Nemesis es el que más me interesa; como el video que pasaste "no corner bugs". Después de todo, las manipulaciones con el menú son muy pocas y no afectan mucho; la única que lo hace depende de trabar a Nemesis en el cuerpo de Brad justamente.
Hola Julian. Me pareció interesante agregar esta opción, al menos en el category extension. Use la palabra glitch; como también podría ser exploit, bug, abuso, trampa, etc. Como dije, no menosprecio al que hace el run usando estos bugs, solo lo planteo como una opción aparte, porque me parece bastante interesante, de hecho justamente me diste un ejemplo de ello y de que puede realizarse tranquilamente. Es obvio que cuando buscan buggear a Nemesis lo hacen de forma intencional, esto se ve en los runs, en los que cuentan la cantidad de pasos para hacerlo eficientemente. Yo juego el juego (amigos también), y nunca me pasó de que Nemesis se buggee por recargar o curarme, es algo que debe buscarse de forma intencional, y que si pasa por accidente, será en un muy bajo porcentaje. Me parece que es una forma interesante de explotar más las habilidades al hacer el speedrun, puesto que como dije; no es lo mismo pararse en un lugar fijo a disparar, que estar esquivando a Nemesis activamente. Me parece un tanto innegable que es un bug que se usa intencionalmente; además de bastante rebuscada esa idea de que es algo que pasa accidentalmente y de forma inevitable.
