Sounds creative, and it isn't a macro. Should be fine.
https://www.speedrun.com/smb3ce might be a better place to request something like this if you have a run of it already
friendly reminder that the PCSX2 devs explicitly stated that accuracy is not a priority / will not happen https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2/pull/3181#issuecomment-568209562
The camera angle is what I found most important in getting them consistently.
practice
categories that don't even beat the game are rarely worthwhile
It looks like they play a file up to the gun seller when they can afford the gun and talk/quit on the same frame. Haven't tried it myself though.

There is an imprint in the back grey label of your physical cartridge. If it is two numbers, you have 1.0. If it is followed by a letter, you have 1.1. The main difference I hear about is termite skip, which does save a nice amount of time in Mumbo's Mountain.

No, but you will be (almost) required to backtrack to either Freezeey Peak or Gobi's Valley, as there are items that require the ability from the opposite level.
-
Both are viable methods, and it depends on what your short/long term goals are and how much time you have per day, I'd say. If you can NEVER set aside more than a few hours to do a run, practice will help you get your speedrun down to a comfortable single-sitting time. If you have plenty of wide open gaps but not much time to practice, maybe you'll be better off just doing runs, or at least enjoy it more.

You don't have to implement everything right away. If you find you struggle with something, be creative and find a workaround to avoid that specific trick or find a video from somebody else maybe near the middle of the leaderboard who found the same part tricky and chose to avoid it. You have options.
Disclaimer: I have extremely mediocre/bad times in this game.
Emulators are generally not allowed on PS2 games because there is not an accurate emulator for them even if you look past loading differences. If you see this, there is a reason for it:
Also, the developers of the emulator admitted that accuracy is not even a priority: https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2/pull/3181#issuecomment-568209562

Firstly, you don't have to make an identical post in each DS forum. There is not a single person on the planet that is preventing you from doing this with your friend, so you should be doing it anyway.
All runs on a leaderboard in the series are done completely offline, and if you're at all familiar with the online features of the game you should have a good idea why that is the case.
According to the rules, emulators are still banned.
All a mod has to do is click on the run, edit it, and hit verify again :)
and this speedrun just became cool again. Good job!
