So I'm currently routing a game that I want to request(Ballad of Solar), and I was streaming it earlier today when I found the first time saving glitch in the game. Problem is, I don't know how to precisely replicate it. I've replicated it once since i discovered it in the video below, but i still have no idea how to do it.

This game is driven by mouse only, so what you see on screen are the only inputs.

Around 0:55 or so in the video, i click a log for the worker to cut and he freezes in place and does the work without pathing to the position, I then click a few other logs and it still works. It even worked when i clicked the food bush, but then stopped working suddenly (probably from the worker being idle for too long)

Any ideas??? If this can be consistent and replicated across multiple levels in the game that would save so much time for this run, but even if it only works for this one spot in this level, you'd save a couple seconds.

Since this game isn't on the site yet, because I still need to finish a full single-segment run to request it, there isn't a game-specific forum for it either, so that's why I'm posting this here in the general speedrunning forum.

so if I request a game and it is accepted, is a game-specific forum generated automatically or is it made manually by me or someone else?

just curious how it works?

how would you go about getting 0.8.1? because the website only gives links for 0.9.2

discussione: Speedrunning
Georgia, USAJayJane47 years ago

and yeah, they overhauls a few aspects of the game from 0.8.1 to 0.9 new physics and shader engine and such

just gonna drop this here https://github.com/supertuxkart/stk-code

okay. so it looks like alot of bug fixes and optimizations are coming out on 0.9.3 according to the changelog too """" SuperTuxKart 0.9.3

when i go the game's site there's a 0.9.2

Have you tried the new patch?

(EDIT: and when you go to the gitHub for the game there is a 0.9.3 in the changelog. so perhaps if there are game breaking bugs you can talk to the current developers. The project is open source so that's also cool)

i'm not much of a racing game person. But what do you think is the fastest category? the game page lists 8 different categories.

if they are using any Version Control Software and properly applying commits, pushes, and pull requests, then there is /A/ changelog out there somewhere. Whether or not it is public or legible is up to the developers of SRC. It takes effort to explain fully what you do with each commit, and that might just be enough effort that it would be too much to ask for a public changelog.

but then again, I haven't been around here for that long, so who knows?

depends on what kinds of notes you need to take. I don't know anything about Legend of Legaia so I can't give any particular help with that.

But if you need to run numbers, use a spreadsheet with excel maybe? if you need to keep pictures next to your text notes, I recommend either printing it out and having paper notes or using word if you are dealing with screenshots. I'm using paper notes for my first run actually! I just started attempting any% of Ballad of Solar yesterday and started writing notes to help me finish my run.

for 100%, definitely having a walkthrough (print or digital) will help alot I assume. especially if there are collectables

Notes! got it! was trying to just run the game first without notes just to see what happened.. but the levels are short enough that i could spend a day making rough notes.

thanks alot!!

To be more specific, I'm having trouble with the stamina part... playing a game, while being focused on being fast, for more than a half hour or so. And your tips on a longer practice session make sense! So thank you!

Food and drink would be important too. lol. The loading screens are only at most 10-12 seconds long. but i guess that's enough for a tiny break.

oh thank you! Maybe I'll actually be able to put something together over the course of a few days if i do that!

So I'm practically a newborn at speedrunning (still trying to get my first single-segment recording done).... But the game I've chosen, Ballad of Solar (a mobile/PC friendly time management game), seems to be a 2-4 hour run (estimated), and I'm having trouble doing the entire game in one sitting in order to record a run.

I know many games have multi-hour runs and especially 100% runs are typically long. So I'm here to ask, any tips or tricks for completing multi-hour runs?

Since I need to get a full single-segment run done in order to submit a game request, I'm really struggling. The game would be really good for IL's and such though, since you can replay any level you've already beaten at any time. And there are only 30 levels.
