That's not what he was asking. He was asking whether there was a consistent, i.e. reliable way to do it in level 10
Since there seem to have been some misunderstandings, and I definitely haven't heard a definitive "no" yet:
-
Stages of 10 levels (e.g. 31-40) belong on the Level Leaderboard imo, since they are very clearly presented as individual stages (or in speedrunning terms, ILs) by the Level select menu. This would uncram the "Miscellaneous" tab, which would be reduced from 66 to just 6 categories.
-
Single levels (e.g. 37) should not be on the leaderboard at all imo, as they are too numerous, short, and replicable to really have any relevance. Just remove them altogether, nobody has even submitted a run of them yet.
-
Segments of 100 levels (e.g. 1-100) are where they belong - on the Miscellaneous leaderboard. They definitely have the nature of a full-game category.
In case there are still some misunderstandings:
I am refering to the 60 individual sections of 10 levels each (e.g. level 31-40), which can be selected in the level select menu, require a certain number of stars to unlock, and are currently in the miscellaneous tab of the full-game leaderboard. Those categories (e.g. 31-40) should be moved to the Level Leaderboard imo.
I am not interested in a leaderboard for singular levels (e.g. level 37), since they are way too short, numerous, and repeatable to really have any significance to me. I suggest to remove those singular levels (e.g. 37) from the leaderboard entirely.
Note that I am restating this not because there has been open disagreement or no response at all, but because somebody might mistakenly think my suggestion would have been implemented already, when in reality it hasn't.
Any% is not All Levels. The level 591-600 stage unlocks with 1416 stars, which can be obtained by playing just 472 levels, meaning that Any% can be finished by playing just 482 of the 600 levels.
Which is also why you'd have to play it from a profile with 0 stars. Easiest would probably be to uninstall and reinstall the game
The point of my suggestion was to uncram the "Miscellaneous" tab, and to move 60 short segment categories to a board where there is more space for them (the Level Leaderboard). This would also make more room for the longer categories of 100 levels each, each of which would then be one of just 6 miscs. In addition, they are very clearly presented as individual, IL-like stages by the level select menu.
So you don't like my idea? I meant the stages of 10 levels each that can be selected in the menu
In order to remove any misunderstandings between runners and/or viewers, adding text to the "Rules" tab would probably be a useful implementation.
Here are some suggestions:
All Levels (1-600): Beat all 600 levels of the game in order. Timing starts on tapping to start level 1 and ends when the final glass on level 600 turns happy. Purchasing hints during the run is banned. However, outside resources equivalent to a hint may be accessed during a run (e.g. a route sheet, screenshots, stream chat).
Challenge (Flippy Glass) Highscore category. Each score point counts as 1 millisecond. A screenshot suffices as proof.
Individual stages (1-10 etc.) Beat all levels of the referenced stage in order. Timing starts on tapping to start the first level and ends when the final glass turns happy. Purchasing hints during the run is banned. However, outside resources equivalent to a hint may be accessed during a run (e.g. a route sheet, screenshots, stream chat).
Misc full-game categories (1-100 etc.) Beat the referenced Levels in order. Timing starts on tapping to start the first level and ends when the final glass turns happy. Purchasing hints during the run is banned. However, outside resources equivalent to a hint may be accessed during a run (e.g. a route sheet, screenshots, stream chat).
Any% From a profile with no stars collected, unlock and beat level 600. You may play levels in any order any collect any number of stars from each level. Timing starts on tapping to start level 1 and ends when the final glass on level 600 turns happy. Purchasing hints during the run is banned. However, outside resources equivalent to a hint may be accessed during a run (e.g. a route sheet, screenshots, stream chat).
What do you think?
I just do my speedruns offline, I don't think airplane mode is more cheese than that
I would like to see that happen. I'd also love if the individual stages of 10 levels each were moved to the level leaderboard
I'll submit some of my individual stages to the Level Leaderboard once it exists
All Broodals NPG sounds viable. Could end on the end of Any% as well imo. Also it's 5 extra bosses - Hariet, Rango, Spewart, Rango 2, Madame 2
It's an improvement. A darker background colour (e.g. navy instead of light blue) might still improve things further, but it's definitely better than before
Level 1-100 is quite fun to run and I have a PB of 32:18 uploading. I am also looking forward to giving level 101-200 etc. a shot. I'd like these categories added to the Miscellaneous tab, while the individual stages of 10 levels each should be moved to the Level leaderboard imo.
Some of the text is quite hard to read on a transparent light-blue background in front of a mostly white wallpaper. I think a darker colour like Navy would improve things in that regard
Part of that is also the yellow text - most games seem to just use white text for everything
My intuition was: Timing starts upon tapping/clicking to start the first level and ends when the final glass turns happy.
But timing from the first non-black frame sounds like it will only remove a load inconsistency, so it seems like a good idea
