A more standard name might be All Flags.
https://www.speedrun.com/smoce/guide/l1v21 Should probably be in the guides for this board as well
Maybe you could try some of the category ideas that have been around for a bit and still not been scrapped:
- All Sub Areas (get the 161 moons that can make a difference for what Cappy says if you reenter the area)
- All Sub Areas NPG (get the sub area moons that are available before finishing the game)
- Double% (get twice the Any% amount of moons in each kingdom)
- Peach% (Timing starts when talking to the Toad on the bridge in Mushroom. Get all 15 Peach moons without warping)
- No cap bounces (beat the game without bouncing on Cappy. Less skips)
- Coinless (Beat the game with 0 coins collected. You may create save files during the run)
- Dark(er) Side No Revisits (get the multimoon in the respective kingdom without ever visiting a kingdom twice)
- AUPGM (From a completed NPG file, collect all unique moons that are neither achievements nor in All Moons NPG)
- All Songs does sound like it would work out
- APC NG+ (collect all 1000 purple coins from a started file)
The affected kingdoms would be Lake (for most top runners), Wooded (for non-top runners), and Luncheon. Not a big difference, but seeing how it rewards Lake Clip and Nut Clip while still being unique in one kingdom, it could be interesting.
If you expand the idea to Minimum Story Moons, you add a mandatory Flower Road Skip in Wooded, and the Bullet Billding route in Metro should become appealing again. Snow will get a unique clip as well, and reward Snow Dram more.
So to conclude, Minimum Story Moons would reward some advanced potential Any% tricks more than Any% itself does. This is close to the effect you would get from the way more boring Yawn%, and it could very well be an interesting category for both show-off and practice.
One upside I see about 1620 is that it could be run parallel to the 602 race, as it would take about the same time. This would give the runners a choice between running all 3D Mario games of the early period, or all "first" 3D Mario games of any period.
I personally would prefer a run with the length of the 602 to be less than 70% Galaxy 1+2
@MutantsAbyss Congrats on the PB! I do think you can justify dropping the remaining sequel (Galaxy 2), seeing as SM64 DS already isn't part of the category. What do you think?
Compare to that how much less content would be skipped in a No Cap Bounces category. So if anyone wants to run that over at the CE board, good luck
This is In 17-35 months Pt. 2
Any news? Did some of the levels in your version change as well, and if so, which levels changed?
speedrun.com/smoce is where you should probably post such ideas
Afaik all Water Surface Clips, Inverted Pyramid Clip, Sand Pipe Clip, Sewer Clip, Snow Upstairs RCC, Snow Downstairs RCC, all Moon Clips, Lake Corner Clip, and a few more
The new version has 620 instead of 600 levels. Will there be a Legacy All Levels category with subcategories for each former level count?
A new version got released, and for me, level 3, 60, and 63 are now different. This worries me because those 3 levels are the earliest ones that I ever used hints on. Do I now have a different set of levels than you?
I.e. without Galaxy 2 so it doesn't get too long. Would anyone be interested in running that?
yeah and leaving your switch open just isn't sustainable. Comparable to using too much fuel in Formula 1
I'll take that as a no. Thanks for your response.
