alternative outlook: develope an extremely deep-rooted depression and overlay it with a farçe of memes to hide the depression. never feel adequate doing anything, as if whatever you do is never good enough, not even if you're already doing it to nigh-perfection.
Basically NTRCFW for New 3DS's are banned
Might I ask why it is banned?
unless they have proven that NTR messes with the game directly or as a byproduct, there's pretty much no reason to "ban" it since it uses the free power of the console to run the software, which is why capturing games like Xenoblade Chronicles 3D & any SNESVC doesn't work with it - no free power to use. My guess is they fear people would use it to cheat? which is a pretty bland tbh...
If you have a new 3DS, you could look into getting CFW and recording your screen by streaming the screens to your PC using NTR.
:^) I highly doubt alpharad is going to answer a twitter message, he's getting like 300 a day from his fans.
A user should not be able to adjust their submission date earlier than the date on which the form was submitted. Only mods should have this ability. The user can contact the mods to adjust their submission date if they have proof it was done on an earlier date.
basically every other run has to be asked to be changed then. if that's what you want sure. I have plenty people that don't submit the day they did the run, for one reason or another, or completely new users that have been only uploading to their youtube until now. All these people would have to ask first or enter a completely false date until the mod changes it.
Runs should appear on the front page by submission date, not verification date. Verification date is irrelevant. The person held the record at the time they submitted it, not when some stranger decided to verify it.
That's completely ignoring the whole issue. what you're saying is that most game's runs aren't even fit for frontpage because their moderators don't verify runs as they appear. that's the whole point of this thread, that many runs can't appear on front-page because of how it's set up. the main fix for this would be to sort by verification date, BUT limit how old the runs can be. for example give a 3 day grace-period before runs are no longer eligible. that way you get fresh runs on the front-page but don't lose out on all the runs that can't show up atm.
I have barely any time, so don't expect any big things, but I'll try to do a bit every now and then, as well as updating the leaderboards to have the correct names.
https://www.speedrun.com/Spore/forum is probably where you want to post this instead of here.
closing this, quest was added as a run has been submitted. https://www.speedrun.com/mhw/9_New_World_Sky_New_World_Flower
I've not found any pin based capture card that supports it natively (probably because it's a rarely used signal type). What you could do instead however is use a hdmi adapter / converter and use a hdmi capture card. It's a bad workaround yes, but it's the only method I've found so far to get PAL60 to work with colour. (then again, the adapter/converter also has to support PAL60 for this workaround to work in the first place)
@Liv
pretty much none of those settings would help if the capture card doesn't accept PAL/NTSC signals outside their usual refresh rate.
PAL60 isn't exactly common, I only know a few PS2 games like Makai Kingdom, and some GC stuff like the GB Player use it.
here's what this type of capture card supports:
In these moments, the popular vote (or wathever) could be used.
Because that would work out perfectly as seen in the last 4 replies to this thread :^)
but hey, better start 500 sites like https://HentaiSpeedruns.me/ and spread out the speedrunning community even more. I admit, the current system doesn't allow for everything, and it's a free service, so expecting them to filter down on stuff is reasonable. but I don't think the rules for submitting games should be looked at as absolute. When it's a single person submitting a game and only have their own run to show, which also happens to be the first run ever of that game, I agree, it probably doesn't need a leaderboard (I also am to look at when talking about people who submit games like that). But when there's already a small community that wants to use speedrun.com instead of their own way, I don't think they should be rejected for being a short flash game or things of that sort (except if it's not a game, like Visual Novels).
Just some things I thought of the other day:
• Variable amount of leaderboard pages (Full-Game / IL)
- This would allow for more customization of boards and allow large leaderboards to segment their categories better, for example the monster hunter boards' loading time could be reduced big time if the ILs could be pushed into smaller pages.
• Renamable leaderboard pages (Full-Game / IL)
- In tandem with the previous point, this would further improve customization, allowing the segmented categories to be more clear, like for example folders for your files/documents.
• IL level creation at any point in the list (instead of just at the bottom)
- Just a QoL change that would remove tons of clicking to move something up the list.
• Return of the Earth "Country"
• Alphabetical sorting for games on profiles.
• (Direct Messages)
• Discord name on profile as a div instead of a browser popup when clicked on.
• "Community Announcements" that get displayed on each page of the game
• Guides: Variables and/or linking the guide to a category.
- This would make it easier to see what the guide is about without having to read the title. For example a variable that says "Full Game" or "Strat" let's the user instantly see that this one guide is about a single strat.
• Actually using the Patreon account to post updates instead of... nothing?
- It's empty, so it might make the impression that it's fake or that the money isn't reaching you guys.
• Show the Patreon donations on the speedrun.com profile
- If possible, showing them totaled everywhere, but showing on the profile something like "Patreon for 9 Months, X$ total (X per month)"
• Site-integrated request function instead of forum threads for Leaderboard Mod, Marathon, Platforms, Series etc.
- I feel like it'd make it easier for you guys if there was something in place, like showing a list with all requests, and having additional info instantly like "has run pending? yes/no" "oldest run pending: x days"
• Fix the Link markdown so it doesn't kill the link if it encounters special characters.
• Fix the @ markdown so it doesn't kill the user-link if it encounters a special character.
• A page with all the features the site has, like the randomgame page.
- New users should know about all the cool features the site has!
• A sandbox leaderboard
- don't know what X does? why not try it out in the sandbox so you don't accidentally delete half the runs!
@Dickson
Bookmark this link, it'll take you to a random game every time. https://www.speedrun.com/randomgame
@Komrade I'd not be concerned about that Kappa
@lolman-0027 I'd love to but humanity proves time and time again that they manage to disappoint. and considering the first rule of developement is to never trust users to do things right, I think I'll stay with my realistic approach.
It could be the runners who take care of moderating comments on their runs. For example, if they receive an unpleasant comment, they could delete it themselves. Like on YouTube, I decide which comment can stay and which comment disappears on my videos.
even at low run counts like you have @lolman-0027 like 48 runs, would you want to click delete a few dozen times because someone found it funny to meme on every of your runs?
This feature would allow for more community interaction on site (cough privatemessages cough) so def. a +1 from me.
BUT I do have to wonder, how will there be an insured way of payment for those trying to claim the bounty. Everyone can just claim to want to give away XX$ for Y and then never deliver. would there be some sort of holding account (idk a SRC paypal account) you have to pay the money to first so it can then be distributed to the claimer?
I'd like to widen my horizons, possibly see things from additional PoVs, and maybe learn a thing or three about how humans tick.
For starters, ask yourself these two simple questions: • What is a Leaderboard? • What is on a Leaderboard?
Don't try to overthink these, just answer with what you think is the correct thing. We can always go deeper afterwards, but for now this should suffice.

Only a few things to watch out for, no matter what Partner Pokémon you choose. you want to reduce the amount of fights you have to do to the minimum, this is affected in the ranking phase of the tournaments.
Look at the rankings of the NPCs you'll fight, the lowest ranking is the ranking you land on after those 5 Fights. if you dislike the ranks, you can just cancel out and re-enter. (you want to go down in ranks about 20 ranks each time)
if you wanna go at it advanced, you an also look at the Pokémon you'll fight, some Pokémon are faster to KO than others, so watching out to get a favourable opposition is a thing to do. (guardevoir for example is really fast to defeat)
I hope that helps somewhat.

@ShikenNuggets
Briefly observing how the authentication system works doesn't make it significantly more likely for someone to be able to accurately guess your authentication code at any given point in time.
oh but it is, even just knowing if it's a fixed length, how long each 2FA code is active etc. makes it way more easy to get into it.
"it does mitigate it" yes, it does, but to a degree where it might as well wouldn't exist. setting up a secondary password that is customizable like the first one would be more efficient than 2FA. why? 2FA's I've seen have usually 4-6 characters fixed, meaning you can ignore all other lengths entirely. so, with that out of the way, worst case scenario, 6 characters. passwords usually are of a length of at least 8 characters, so the security is already lacking in simple comparison. now add to it that these 2FA's are usually made to be easily recognizable to everyone so they can type it before it expires, so no fancy characters like äöü etc. making it another step down from a regular password.
it changing regularly doesn't matter, if you're just randomizing the guesses you have the same chance of guessing it as if it was static. actual improvements to security would be having to enter 2 passwords or making 2FA way longer than it needs to be.
"Not everyone who tries to break into your account is a pro that knows how to get around 2FA"
thing is you don't need to be a pro. any script kiddy could. if the attacker gives up right as they are met with a tiny hinderance, they didn't even want to get into your account in the first place. it's a false sense of security I'd like to avoid people to have. this shit is how stuff like facebook selling your data becomes big news. people ignoring to actually get secure passwords, "I have 2FA my account is safe even if my password is 1234".
/edit: and add to it, you need a second device to even use it. lose it, break it, get it stolen - bye bye means of getting into your account. and if you can request a 1-time code to change the number or disable 2FA, well GG you just invalidated the whole system.
