As there is no way to change the settings in-game, if you need to make adjustments to help the game run, you'll find the settings in the following folder:
C:\Users<user>\AppData\Local\DinoGenesis\Saved\Config\Windows
I have made a version of the GameUserSettings.ini that works on my end to make it run a bit better, which you can find in the resources section. However if you find any other optimisations, please do leave a message here and I'll update the resources accordingly.
There is an auto-splitter for this game that will handle LRT - there are some quirks with the current version though, meaning that splits will happen in the middle of the loading screen between levels, and there is no final split (yet).
If you'd like to manage the splits yourself, simply deactivate the start/split options in the autosplitter settings, and load removal should still work fine.
Hey guys,
There is an autosplitter for this game which we'd advise you use - however please note, you will need to open LiveSplit AFTER the game has loaded (as in, after the configuration screen). This is so the splitter can correctly detect the game.
Hey all,
We now have an autosplitter for the game (found here) which should be available in LiveSplit. This should allow you to have both an in-game timer and real-time timer in your Livesplit.
That said, some people have had some issues with it - so if submitting a run and you don't have a LRT, please just use the same time in both LRT and RTA for now. Optionally you can manually calculate your load times and remove the time manually, but this may lead to longer verification times.
Hey,
As someone who was trying for a competitive time, I had to load up the game on a physical PS2 in order to replicate similar load times to the fastest records.
Emulator (Duckstation at least) seems to load between 4-5 seconds slower on each "Loading" screen than a PS2, which adds up.
Just more a heads up in case anyone wants to tackle this run, and is struggling on their times :)
The game is currently priced at £25 (or $30). This is far too expensive for what the game is. I have spoken to the developer, and while they are not willing to reduce the price, they have said that they will offer discounts during steam sale events (at the time of posting this, 50% off has been the cheapest sale price).
As such, I would advise waiting for the game to come on sale before purchasing.
Hey all,
So I found that if you exit the bonus levels, you can skip directly to the next level. I haven't checked it against all the levels yet (and it makes no sense for the first one) but it would probably save some times as its relatively quick to load to the main menu.
I think this is fine within the current ruleset, but just want to check :)
Seeing as there is pretty much 'one' track, do we need to have the game music playing or are we okay to have something else play over it? I had copyright free music playing over it on stream yesterday for my run, so just wanna check :)
I recently learnt that there are two "hidden" characters that can be unlocked on reaching 1 billion points in total runs of the game. There is a YouTube video that covers (see below). The YouTuber also provides a link in the description to a data file you can add to your NVDATA folder which will auto-unlock the characters.
I've yet to do this myself, but seems fun!
So I've watched a couple of the speedruns here now, and one of the key moves in a couple of places seems to be repeated wall jumping against a single wall.
I've tried to mimic some of the movements shown on the controllers/keypad, but am finding it very difficult to achieve. From what I can garner it seems to be that on doing the wall jump you press the direction away from the wall, then back to the wall and jump (jump, right, left, jump etc.) but I can't seem to replicate.
I imagine it's knacky, but any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
Hi - I'm just looking into attempting to speedrun this game, and had loaded up the Europe version of the rom in Fusion (which seemed to run fine).
However based on one of the threads here, the Europe version runs quicker than the USA version? As such I just wanted to check which version I should be using - not that I imagine I'll be setting any records or good scores soon, but would like to be correct from the start.
Thanks!
