FYI any future submission needs the "warp" section of the emulator visible :)
As there is no way to change the settings in-game, if you need to make adjustments to help the game run, you'll find the settings in the following folder:
C:\Users<user>\AppData\Local\DinoGenesis\Saved\Config\Windows
I have made a version of the GameUserSettings.ini that works on my end to make it run a bit better, which you can find in the resources section. However if you find any other optimisations, please do leave a message here and I'll update the resources accordingly.
and not setting up the board
There is an auto-splitter for this game that will handle LRT - there are some quirks with the current version though, meaning that splits will happen in the middle of the loading screen between levels, and there is no final split (yet).
If you'd like to manage the splits yourself, simply deactivate the start/split options in the autosplitter settings, and load removal should still work fine.
Oh awesome! Pleasure to meet you - we picked this game as a part of our "Bad Run Club", where we pick a game every month that doesn't have an SRC page, and all try to see if we can break it etc. and who can be top of the leaderboard by the end of the month.
If you're interested, you can join us here: https://discord.gg/VanSr5DbwS
Would be great to see the auto-splitter; I do a playthrough of the games we pick so as to create an autosplitter if possible, although I saw that there are possibly a few different routing options that could be taken.
Personally, I'd just love to know a good way to deal with that damned crab :)
Hey guys,
There is an autosplitter for this game which we'd advise you use - however please note, you will need to open LiveSplit AFTER the game has loaded (as in, after the configuration screen). This is so the splitter can correctly detect the game.
Could we possibly have an Any% category for full game runs please?
Hey there @deluxyze
Was watching your run, and in the third level you do an OOB trick with the wall climbing. We've been unable to replicate this at all, I wondered if you had any advice, if it is a specific set up etc.
Thanks!!
Dan
Hey all,
We now have an autosplitter for the game (found here) which should be available in LiveSplit. This should allow you to have both an in-game timer and real-time timer in your Livesplit.
That said, some people have had some issues with it - so if submitting a run and you don't have a LRT, please just use the same time in both LRT and RTA for now. Optionally you can manually calculate your load times and remove the time manually, but this may lead to longer verification times.
Hey,
As someone who was trying for a competitive time, I had to load up the game on a physical PS2 in order to replicate similar load times to the fastest records.
Emulator (Duckstation at least) seems to load between 4-5 seconds slower on each "Loading" screen than a PS2, which adds up.
Just more a heads up in case anyone wants to tackle this run, and is struggling on their times :)
Congrats on your first game!
I've wishlisted it and look forward to seeing it at release :)
I spent some time (accidentally) running on the normal difficulty. While I didn't notice anything majorly different, I did notice that in the Oil Rig level on the after taking the first lift, that the UFO comes from the right on Normal, and left on Hard - therein changing the strategy for that part.
I also think there might be more enemies in Hard - so despite my previous investigation into the matter (and what was said otherwise), I've instigated subcategories for the board for the level difficulties and moved runs accordingly.
Due to the majority of runs being on Hard, I've also set that as the default.
The game is currently priced at £25 (or $30). This is far too expensive for what the game is. I have spoken to the developer, and while they are not willing to reduce the price, they have said that they will offer discounts during steam sale events (at the time of posting this, 50% off has been the cheapest sale price).
As such, I would advise waiting for the game to come on sale before purchasing.
Hey all,
So I found that if you exit the bonus levels, you can skip directly to the next level. I haven't checked it against all the levels yet (and it makes no sense for the first one) but it would probably save some times as its relatively quick to load to the main menu.
I think this is fine within the current ruleset, but just want to check :)
I actually think you can only turn down the music - my various attempts to adjust the other settings failed miserably haha.
Seeing as there is pretty much 'one' track, do we need to have the game music playing or are we okay to have something else play over it? I had copyright free music playing over it on stream yesterday for my run, so just wanna check :)
