The rules do require audio for the run to be verified but I'm pretty sure that a phone camera will pick up the necessary game audio pretty fine (maybe turn the game audio up to be safe). Also, you don't need to have a timer on screen for the run to be verified. (Just have a timer next to you so you know what time to submit it as.) You can either retime it yourself afterwards if you're able to and I think the verifiers usually retime the runs as well.

Youtube or memory for seeing what the wr is, but you can also turn on the notification setting so that when a wr is beaten in a followed game (odyssey), you'll get a speedrun.com notification (little bell next to your username when logged in.) That way you don't have to load the entire leaderboard to see if the wr has beaten, you can just check if you got a notification, which doesn't take a year to load.

Most runners use the pro con, i believe, but there are some runners that prefer joy cons such as smallant and fir. It really just comes down to preference.

How much faster is 1.3 digital than 1.3 physical because i'm not paying $80 for a game that I already have if it's, like, 3 seconds faster. Also, how much faster is 1.3 compared to 1.0?

And having the current version of SMO being the fastest is also nice, so anyone can run to the full extent without having to delete everything and reinstalling everything.

So, on the news section on the switch, Nintendo announced that they are going to release "free software updates on April 26th" for Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild so Nintendo Labo VR (a new labo kit coming out soon) will work with those games. a) We might be getting a new version of Odyssey with more patched glitches, presumably 1.3.0, and b ) we might be able to have new categories for the new challenges or moons or whatever in the VR version.

Just thought I might put that out there. Does anyone else think that this new update will patch any useful glitches (like Moon cave skip, klepto skip, moon clip, e.t.c.) or not, and what will we do about it if Nintendo does?

So, I was doing some ILs do get more consistent at Any% strats, movement and madness, and I noticed that the leader boards for Individual Level runs aren't split into 1.0-1.1 and 1.2 sub-categories. Thing is, is that there are different strats for the different versions e.g. 1.0 Cascade you can do FMS. 1.2, you can't and is slower. This is also the case for other kingdoms like Sand (sphinx clip) and Luncheon (turnip clip). Would it be possible for the mods to do add these sub-categories and if so, can they please do?

What I do if I don't have enough coins in Metro (which I usually don't) is ground pound the hint art in the pool under the moon and get, like, a million coins. Only on 1.2.0, btw

OK, I've noticed while running Odyssey that when I enter one of the rooms in snow kingdom to get a moon or two (bloey-joey room, Rango room and goomba room) that sometimes a short, half second cutscene, will play of Mario walking in. But SOMETIMES it doesn't and allows you to roll right away, saving about a second and a half in total. Is this something that can be manipulated, or is just by chance like fast action guide skip? I've never heard any of the top runners talk about it...

I heard this idea on a FearsomeFire stream and liked the idea. You are not aloud to skip cutscenes! For example: in the cap kingdom frog section, you would do it frogless because the frog triggers a cutscene. I don't know, maybe?!
