There are two things I'd like to address in this list of strawpolls
- Should 1.10+ Autojump be allowed in speedruns?

- I had the idea of adding an "All Maps" speedrun, which involves playing every map in a specific category in one go. Should this be a thing potentially?

Polling ends on the 21st
Also tell me when you plan on streaming and I may watch :D
That happens in Singleplayer but not on Coop. If you die in coop you don't need to rerecord, but if you die (or restart level) in singleplayer you need to re-record demos.
Also, it's kind of a taboo to use livesplit in this game (for singleplayer) because it's not accurate. I honestly recommend you use iVerb's timer.
There is a timer on the resources section of this speedrun.com page (It's the third item under "Tools") that uses demos to record, and works for all categories (as well as Portal 1 and Half Life). I recommend using that because it's accurate and you don't need to bother with rechecking the time after.
All you need to do in that case is Download the timer and run it Right click, select "Demo Directory" and go to Portal 2's Folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Portal 2\portal2) and select OK Again, right click, and select "Portal 2 Coop" Before you do stopvideos (the command to start the coop run), type record [Demoname]
Pack is also right about everything, just he hasn't used the new timer yet. It's a really good timer (the only major flaws are that it doesn't tell you the time until after a split and it someone disappears for some reason)
K. I'll just remind once again that the reason we use iVerb's board is because 1. srcom failed in the past and 2. It connects to steam so no matter what iverb's board functions better than srcom (It also has more features that srcom wouldn't be able to do at all), with the only major drawback being that it's on another site.
Shoutout to Edive for reminding me that this thread existed.
@tcd11 still salty?
FlareX found a version of the skip that still works in the current patch. This can be seen in this run:
I will still maintain the old runs as removed, however I will say that the world record pre-patch is 51.983 by ThunderPlayz followed by 52.567 by tac23tac23.
Lemme know if I fucked up in filtering out Exploit runs anyone who can
That was what "ROM Hacks" did and they still exist in the Minecraft series if you look (Go to speedrun.com/minecraft and in the "Game Type" filter on the side cross off ROM Hack (Will make it so they are not filtered out)
I will offer a quick summary of the events involved here, but first I will say that there are no leaps banned right now. All leaps are permitted to be used (if that's all you care about. If not please read the summary.
Roughly 8-9 months ago, there was a leap named "PlebJ" which I banned. The leap in question is seen here (57 secs):
The ban ensued because of how leaps work in this game. In this game, there is a concept called an "OP Leap", which involves leaping about the same time that you jump to get a higher leap. This has ping-dependence: you will have a higher leap with higher ping. That being said, this jump is HARD with good ping, and less hard with bad ping, which is why it was banned.
Only a few weeks ago did things get controversial. The leap that brought up the controversy was RazorJ, as seen here (42 secs):
People started complaining heavily about the leap, so me and Maxi banned it. However, we ended up being persuaded to unban in the week passing by (The controversy in this was outstanding), so we unbanned both leaps. This led to more controversy, but that is the final result. The main reason was that leaps regardless are biased, and banning leaps to try and make it more "equal" was sort of futile, especially considering that I originally did not approve of banning leaps, but did it via majority.
ManiacJ was just a part of the argument.
So no leaps are banned at the moment, but you can look at these as maybe a guide as to what wrs to avoid going for xd (unless you are fine with the grind)
Voetiem did a run of All TTs and having Custom Maps here would be pretty cool (even just in level leaderboard xd)
as an eff why eye. It's not based on letters it's based on sound (at least imo)
