Yeah, we can add a rule for breaks. Some people might say it feels segmented, but I don't think it's fair to disqualify people just because they can't do a 9 hour speedrun without a single toilet break. That's just wrong. This is not Survivor or any other similar kind of show.
Kuru: Fixed.
I think he's talking about making each event as IL (level-leaderboard), which is not a bad idea if anyone wants to run it.
Broadcasts on twitch are deleted after 40 days, iirc.
So wait, event 1 to 30 takes roughly 2 hours, but event 1 to 32 would be over 5 hours? That should be definitely a new category.
I'd wish I'd have at least 10 seconds break during U2 run, but unfortunately every cutscene is skippable :)
The reason why I asked is because I personally can't imagine not drinking at least once in an hour, otherwise I get a headache, and not going to toilet at least once in 5 hours, so I was just wondering how you do that.
IGT will be optional, of course. It's a real pain to time it, anyway.
Kuru, I wanted to ask you, how do you manage your toilet/drink/food during such long runs? :)
hypnoshark, can you add the category game 100% and write what needs to be done? I have no clue and the video doesn't exist.
JessicaSix: Can you confirm this?
hypnoshark: I guess we could call your run as Game 100%, although there is no way to track it.
If completing all events unlocks the final video, which would be regarded as completing the game, then I guess there is no 100% category. There is a similar thing in PC version of NFS: High Stakes. In Career mode, you don't have to finish all tournaments with gold medals, but that means you won't unlock the last tournament, which is sort of hidden, and only when you finish this last tournament, the narrator says something about completing the career.
Like I said, those 3 seconds are not a big deal. I assumed it could be some lag since you were streaming from PS2. The problem was with the ending when you magically lowered your time by 22 seconds without any explanation. Maybe it was just a typo?
Still, the biggest issue was with cuting the video/loosing connection, which made the video 10 minutes shorter than it should be, thus the run can't be verified. Well, at least in my eyes. I've seen mods of other games that would gladly accept your run (mostly without even watching it first), but we're kinda picky here, so everything must be in order, otherwise people start abusing it, making their own rules and so on. Trust me, it happens :(
EDIT: Yeah, as hypnoshark mentioned, you should keep running it.
Hey, sorry to reject your run, but it simply has too many flaws:
-
Unfinished run - as JessicaSix said, event 32 must be completed. I've never even played the PS2 version, so the rules were basically taken from PC version (they are different). Unfortunately you didn't wait at least a day for your answer :(
-
Cut video - your timer says 2:24:50, yet the video stops at 2:14:50, so there is at least 10 minutes of footage missing. The video is cut several times during the run, even during a race! You should never cut a video when doing RTA speedrun.
-
Timer discrepancies - the timer starts 3 seconds before you start the championship. That's not a big deal, but then you claim the run is 2:24:28:140, yet the timer says 2:24:50:140. Where did you get those 22 seconds?
-
I'm pretty sure that extreme handling is faster than classic and since this is a speedrun, you should use whatever is faster.
I hope you're not mad. We'll gladly accept your run, but fix these issues first. Sorry for not giving you clear rules, but you have to understand your run is the first one for this game, so there might be things mods overlooked (this happens to all new games). Also, if you would have waited at least a day (you posted your question at our midnight), you could have at least avoided the first issue :)
Looking forward for your improved run ;)
Ok, thanks for the confirmation. I guess the PS version is still faster (in terms of IGT). Which brings me to an issue I've been having with this game since the day ZhouTai made his segmented run.
IGT is synced with your current framerate and since PS version suffers heavily from framerate drops (especially missions with weather), the real time can be VERY different from IGT. ZhouTai's run is a very good example - SDA timed his run at 1:48:22 (2 seconds were added as save penalty), but the actual IGT time is 1:02:47, assuming The Informant gives you the same time at the beginning as on PC, since you can't see the timer except the very end.
So, my propose is to add IGT to each run, just to see the REAL differencies. Real time will be still prefered for any% runs, of course. As for segmented runs, I'm not sure we should prefer real time over IGT.
Ok, thanks for notifying me.
Coooookie, I've been able to do the OoB and get to the water, but everytime the car sink, the mission simply fails. Does it have to be a specific place on the map or do I have to press some button?
Really? Okay.
The savefile from U2 is now allowed. Sorry if that causes a problem for anyone. Speedrunning racing games is kinda new, so the rules are still being developed.
What do you guys use for a mic? I'm looking for something "best for buck", don't really need super sound quality, just low noise.
There's just so many mics there it's hard to pick one. Half of reviewers say it has superb quality and the other half say it has bad quality :)
Got a tip from Chimpaneez there is a speed glitch that works with Lotus and Mustang:
OK, sorry for that. It looked like cops are faster than you and iirc that only happens on medium and hard.
EDIT: Um... did you delete your run? I can't find it.
EDIT2: Nevermind.
Yeah I know, I just honestly don't see any reason to run this game without the glitch :)
Not sure about the video, I just copied the link here hoping it would work even though it's private :/
I'll talk about the savefile with JessicaSix, but even if we supply it in the resources, it won't work for console versions, so it would be an disadvantage if you don't own U2 for console - the very reason why we don't allow it.
The glitch could be a new category, or maybe just a variable. Not sure yet.
EDIT: Also not sure if the glitch works if you apply it to all tracks at once. Maybe it only works for the following track.
