Try going to the left of the first wall and rolling off of there or roll cancelling to the left of the first wall and vectoring down to the bridge. Roll cancel vectoring is faster and more consistent. Also, what purpose would a SRC Koopa Freerunning leaderboard serve? There are ingame leaderboards, there is mkwrs, so why should we need one? I can see people wanting to see larger sections of the leaderboards and getting videos of runs of people around them, but the leaderboard on SRC wouldn't have all the people of the ingame leaderboards.
We have five runs with video! So can this be a new category? Timing should start at the end of the countdown of the first race and end at the end of the final one. You must do all freerun races.
Here are the videos:
The strawpoll was there initially because there was debate on the discord as to when to start timing. However, those of us running the game have agreed upon the convenience and practicality of timing beginning at the end of the countdown. When you do runs of KFRTA, feel free to use the "I'm in!" timing method if you want.
When I said "most of us", I was referring to those of us who have done runs. Also, like SomeBroYouDontKnow stated, it makes resetting much harder. It would be a pointless inconvenience.
Most of us have agreed upon starting time at the beginning of the first race, I believe, so it seems like this will be the rule for starting time. Where to end timing isn't really in question here, though.
Sorry for the lack of clarity. I personally think timing should begin at the end of the countdown, the point when you can first do an input in the race. Others think it should be at the beginning of talking to the first Koopa. I made a strawpoll about when timing should begin. http://www.strawpoll.me/14928399
An idea for a new category. Timing would start at the start of the first race and end at the end of the last one. All races must be completed. There could be a video requirement at around 25 minutes. How does that sound?
By the way, here is a video of an okay-ish run I did of the category:
It depends on the category. This wouldn't be very useful in any% because the jump rope moons take too long to get. In something like All Missions, however, this could be an effective strategy if you can do it consistently and/or you are bad at getting 100 jumps.
I know that the main SMO speedrunning board has video requirements for certain time thresholds. Does the meme board have video rules as well?
SMG has some not-so-good TASses. There are also a few individual level ones for SMG2. SMO won't be getting one until an emulator comes for it, which will take quite a while.
@Deln how should I contact him? I messaged him on Twitch with no response and he doesn't have an actual YouTube channel. Should I post a thread in the Gamestar Mechanic forum?
I'd like to become a moderator for Gamestar Mechanic. I have some new ideas for categories and am the only one on the leaderboard who currently plays Gamestar Mechanic actively.
A thread I posted nearly 3 weeks ago has no response. I have tried contacting the current moderator on Twitch, but he has not responded (I contacted him 4 or 5 days ago).
I should mention that a run of mine was accepted two weeks ago after 4 days of pending.
Even still, the current moderator shows no sign of activity, so I ask if I can become a mod.
