Well, as it was, the different "In Bounds" categories before we found all these OOBs still had different routes to look at and had potential to change up enough to feel different, All Ribbons and Any% were definitely super similar to the point I didn't care much about the categories, but we are finding a LOT of OOBs and I could see it being overwhelming to anyone who would want to join in on the fun.
I don't know, I would just see them as like a "tutorial" subcategory, basically.
I was thinking of this as a subcategory after seeing how big out of bounds is for running this game, what if we had an "In Bounds" category? Just to give those who don't want to learn Out of Bounds a category to run?
I had thought of another potential thing the site could do, grant you it's a little on the smaller side.
Being able to exclude subcategories from the actual categories, example: https://www.speedrun.com/Ether_One I'd be able to exclude "Redux" and "Softlock" to "100%" and "All Projectors" without needing to make 8 different subcategory blocks.
Context- Game: https://www.speedrun.com/Ether_One User: https://www.speedrun.com/user/mauvaisvitrier Forum post: https://www.speedrun.com/Ether_One/thread/wdlcf
Mauvais came onto the site, did a run and tried help expanding Ether One routing and strats, but after trying to edit a post he made in the forums, he found he was just out of the blue banned and reached me on Twitter wondering what's up, theorizing spam protection.
I'm kinda wondering what's up too, and, if possible, to see if he can get his account back.
Alternatively, you can use this site: https://speedrunwr.com/
I was thinking running this game, "All 1st place" seems too inconsistent for me, but playing Any% isn't something that really appeals to me, as surrendering takes away the main thing that I enjoy about this game
So, I wanna ask the mods and, to an extent, the community, if they would be alright with an "Any% No Surrender" category? Like, you'd still be able to throw games if you think it would be faster, but other games would still have you play and not have to worry about getting first, which I think would be a happy medium for new runners like myself.
Maybe there's something that prevents you from wanting to do it, and as I said, I am an outsider, so I have no room to tell you how to run the boards, but this is something I think would be nice. ^^;
Something to consider, at least.
I should mention, since not all the games categories are fleshed out, (especially Shadow Glider), feel free to experiment with finishing games, playing extra levels, etc. to help flesh the boards out.
The games I especially wanna flesh out better are: Ballcat's Homerun (Beat the Game) Dr. Nestor's Ark (Is there a better alternative to Any%?) Woman Runner (Beat the Game) and Shadow Glider (...Just... Anything really)
But I'm open to suggestions if you got any.
The most unappealing game that I have seen/played/experimented with (so far) has been "Super Sonic Racer" for PC and Wii.
idk how the Wii game functions, but the PC game I found to be the buggiest shit. See, the game is a kart racer right? So as such you get power-ups through blocks on the track, the PC version gives you the ability to use almost any of the power-ups for free by using the number buttons on your keyboard. So you're sitting there just spamming power-ups to break the AI for about 40 or so minutes.
So the runner is left getting carpal tunnel and the viewers get to watch races with no action or challenge other than the steering that the player has to occasionally worry about... At least that's where it's at now.
again, mostly to see if I could.
I remembered RDR2 had extensions just after a couple of runners, so I wanted to see if I could have the same luck.
I'm not here to complain, I understand, 2 runners is fairly small and I get that, I was mostly seeing if I could. XD
However, the mention of a category extensions merge has me interested, I kinda want to ask what the idea for this is and if there's any chance we'll see this concept worked out soon? ^^
I recently learned and ran a few games that don't have leader boards and I would like to ask if there any limit on how many games a single person can request?
If I can plug, I run a game that could use more runners. X) https://www.speedrun.com/Dream_PC
idk if games that are considered "walking simulators" (even though there's more to it than that, like... puzzles and collectables, but regardless) are seen as good "speedgames", but, despite its flaws, Dream has been my favorite game to run, it's like... $10 on Steam and had a lot more to it than I initially thought when I bought it in 2015. ^-^;
Have you ever used Livesplit for stupid boredom purposes? Because I just spent just under three minutes killing my control button to see how quickly I could manually split 100 times.
If you have, what's some of your purposes? I feel like this could be an entertaining topic.
Title says it all, I'm aware I probably can't request Extensions for a game only I run, so that's not my intent this time. ^-^;
But I was just wondering how you do it as there's nothing I can find on the site that explains how they're made. (Though, I may be missing something.)
well the previous record was this: https://www.speedrun.com/miitopia/run/zg7re2ez
https://www.speedrun.com/miitopia/run/zq3e7l5y
This guy apparently beat the world record by over an hour, but won't show the proof. I know the game is small, but like...
is this okay? ...is this mod abuse?
What does IGC mean? I don't understand the difference between No SBA and IGC, I can't find the answer anywhere online, so I figure I'd just ask the forums.
