I have to admit, I've been a little behind on the things new Soulworker added. ^^; (still playing through it, but been at a snails pace as free time has been sparse.)
So what is it exactly I'm missing? I think I gathered what Dawn of Fate is (seems like something to add to the iLs) but what else is it am I missing?
Yeah, I don't really care what you run on, it's all the same game to me. XD Regardless I'm going to take 3 years to watch it all the way through and verify it. Hyperbolically speaking, of course. XD
...Given how many people had ran this lately, I feel like I must warn you all that once the game updates, I WILL have to move your runs to "legacy runs" considering the game isn't exactly finished yet. It's just a formality because the game DOES add more, and it could change the route/run entirely.
Just giving you a heads up in case it happens and you guys wonder what might be up. ^^;
Actually, I think I like that idea better, making them consistent with All Episodes.
...So we just keep using IGT then? I'm confused as to what you're suggesting. XD
To be honest, I barely even remember what I set for full town runs half the time, because I set those way before anyone showed signs of wanting to run them. XD So I'm down to more refine those if you two have suggestions.
I mean, it's not really "proven correct" if we can't test it. But I guess at this point, I digress.
idk, your run is an enigma to me, I can't seem to time it 1:1. XD
But that said, yeah, if what you're saying is true, Phoenix, and you can walk in the loading in-between, then there's no reason to change the timing from IGT. Because you're not necessarily losing time in a run.
So I tried re-timing everything (again) to test your theory of the "Loading" text disappearing, and the last hit on the boss, and that DEFINITELY got me way more consistent results... except with PhoenixLord, who, when timed that way... was TWO seconds behind what IGT said, somehow. XD
That said, I am more inclined to believe it's after the text disappears. But now I have to question if that affects anything in game, because in some other games I play where a similar event occurs (Dream, Montague's Mount) -- both games allow you to walk and do things during the down period loads, so NOW all I want to do is test whether or not this down period can be utilized in some way for SoulWorker.
Neptuno's run is definitely on the new version too tho, so is Quattrozander's. Lulu (I think) is the only one I looked at from the Gameforge era. Either way, it doesn't seem like IGT tracks loads, which is what Sponger here was trying to tell us was happening.
EDIT: on that note though, I just did a bunch of new runs myself on a new character since I hadn't played on the Lion Games version, so I'll have a new area to pull a sample size from once I'm done posting those.
I'm not exactly sure that's correct myself. I went in and manually re-timed 4 completely different runs from 4 of our previous runners - three different ways, and, while I can safely say idk HOW the IGT works, I can assure myself that I do NOT think it's from the time you hit "Enter" with the loading screen included;
So, let me go over the method I used real quick.
So I initially re-timed it starting on Enter and ending once the last hit killed the level boss. Pretty consistently there was a handful of seconds added on to what the IGT said the time was, with the major discrepancy BEING PhoenixLord, the most recent run submissions we've gotten.
Then I timed it how I THOUGHT it worked, by starting on level load, and ending once the results screen showed up, to my dismay... that also added in a handful of seconds with again, PhoenixLord being the exception somehow.
Though during re-timing one of LuluChanTVs runs for the results screen test, I accidentally stopped the timer a little after the slow-motion final hit had stopped and wound up getting something somewhat closer to what IGT said, going back and retiming PhoenixLord's run, I was also getting more consistent results, albeit with PhoenixLord having 1 second less than what IGT said, but that could have been a bit of human error on my end before going in and re-timing one of Quattrozander's and Neptuno's runs, and being confused all over again.
(See my results here)
Mind you, my sample size is VERY small, I only have a limited time to look into everything this morning, not to mention how small what I have to work with is in general, I'll try to do more testing a little later, but with what I currently have, I can say with at least some level of certainty that the loading screen ISN'T being tacked onto the IGT, because these other runs would be several seconds slower if it was.
That feels like it kinda defeats the purpose, all tasks+ is supposed to complete all tasks but with everything already unlocked for potential route differentiation, since quitting in the middle doesn't really count as completing a task, I don't really get why that should be allowed. Besides, you could use the extra allotted time in Stunt to reach farther tasks that might be a bit out of the way in a route without really losing time in AT+, so I actually feel like that could possibly benefit the run more.
No, the routing differences are only CURRENTLY similar because not enough experimentation with having all the tasks unlocked has been done, otherwise, routing could be vastly different between the two categories. They need to be separated.
"i feel as though there should be the option to speedrun in a party aswel as a seperate catagory"
I actually remember talking to someone about that on Twitter like a year or two-ish ago? I don't exactly remember what the verdict was, or what my excuse was for not doing it. So... maybe I'll sit down one day, archive like... every run, restructure the ENTIRE board to add multiplayer categories, and repost them, but at the current moment, I just don't have the time or energy too. XD
(curse src for making board restructures a nightmare.)
As for a Discord? I dunno, not the worst idea, and I have made discords for deader games in the past, so like... if you guys really think we need one, I guess I can throw one together. ^^;
ngl, I didn't expect this board to get even as active as it is, even if it's not THAT active, those bursts always come out of nowhere and I never expect them. XD
I mean, it's effectively the same game, right? I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed.
Again, there are ILs for individual races, you don't have to do an approx. 6 hour run if you don't want to. I guess if you guys really want a nationals or supercross specific category, where you do all of a type of race, you can do one, throw it here in the forums and I'll add it as a category for you to submit to.
But as it stands, it feels pretty redundant when every level has its own category and collectively all the races together fall under the Career Any% run. But I'm open to being wrong if y'all really feel like we need that middle ground.
"So can my attempt for any% be submitted for gold% as well since by the end of the run I had gold trophys in every category?"
Yeh, sure, why not?
"God I would love it if we allowed for 3 lap races in career mode runs"
I mean, it wasn't ever disallowed, truth be told it NEVER occurred to me that you could just... DO that for a speedrun, this was something I knew you could do, but the thought never crossed my mind.
The thing is, these boards are... mostly inactive, hence why no one has really spoken out about these things.
On that note; The difference between Gold and Any is that, with Any you're not required to get a gold trophy in every category, regardless of how easy or hard it is to gold everything, just one takes out that requirement whereas the other leaves it in. They're ultimately redundant, hence why Gold isn't separated beyond a subcategory.
The freestyle/freerun events all have their own separate category because they play vastly different from the rest of the racing categories of supercross and nationals, and whether or not those specific modes(?) get their own categories will ultimately I guess be up to runner choice, because as it stands I feel it's a tad redundant when every level has it's own iL board.
Also, with 100% - I wouldn't mind the buying strat I guess, it does sound like it could open up for an interesting route. You get no arguments from me there.
"Would be interesting to hear what other people think of the lap numbers. Personally i think 3 would be more fun just because it cuts a significant amount of time and repetition from the run, but if people prefer to stick with the default of 5 I'd be fine with that also."
I decided to add the 3Lap category, I was told it wasn't that big a deal ^^
"On top of that, there's also the case of the different CCs of bikes (50cc - 500cc). You can't use 50cc or 500cc bikes in career mode though which is unfortunate, but maybe there could be some sort of misc category using those bikes idk."
I was told these don't really matter in the long run, because I actually had them separated before the merge with the ATV boards. XD
"Also there's the case of Race physics and Pro physics (which you unlock after getting rank 1 in career). You could potentially separate boards for those two."
I'm not sure what you mean by this, I must be missing something, care to elaborate?
