Dont worry Steven, im sure they do everything they can. We never had a leaderboard for GCN EMU so it wont hurt waiting a few weeks more.
Seems like the GCN EMU runners are really serious on getting this leaderboard up asap OMGScoots
Well my suggestion for the rules then is:
Dolphin: 3.5 or above Input Shower: S Keys, NohBoard, Xpadder etc FPS Counter: Dolpin Built in, Fraps etc
Guess the only rule everybody need to follow is the most used one for emulators. "Only use emulator X version Y or above". like for example: Only use Dolpin version 3.5 or above.
Showing inputs and FPS counter isnt really necessary. I choose to show my inputs when i play PC but that is not something i need to use, same goes for FPS counter.
We could always move all the playstation versions to 1 category and also do the same for Gamecube, That way we would be able to fit in Resident Evil 2 Game.Com Kappa
I bet that runs will be submiited before we even establish the rules DansGame
Edit: and we also gotta scroll sideways to see Dreamcast now. GG http://www.speedrun.com/re2
Sorry for making an extra post bu which version is allowed? 3.5 4.0?
Yes. It will make some people happy, drama will reduce and most importantly its the most beginner friendly version (lowest RTA and save states).
However if the board isn't active for quite some time I agree that it should be removed. If that happens I don't wanna see another drama about it.
I've been testing the first part of skyrim with the autosplitter. Livesplit starts by itself after the intro, it resets if you die before a checkpoint, paused during loadscreens and it splits by itself after getting through the first chapter. No asl file was used (didnt even have scriptable auto splitter added in the layout), the only file you get when activating skyrim from "Edit Splits" is "LiveSplit.Skyrim.dll".
also that OOT code would be very interesting to look into if I knew anything at all about programing, which sadly I dont. :(
Also would you be able to make all of this for RE2? Timer auto start, auto split at item pickups (im not sure about the rooms splits thou, sure all the categories are optimized as hell but that might change in the future if something new comes up)? I would pay quite a high amount for it actually.
What about item pickups insteed of rooms? If you take skyrim for example. When you activate auto split for that game in livesplit you get a lot of boxes to check (each box represent a split and a part of the game). These boxes could also be added in different orders.
Now what if we could do the same for re2. Having boxes that would represent items in the game and the ability to choose the order for the splits. This would be great for all the scenarios.
Although auto split for skyrim is selected in Edit Splits insteed of a asl file. Is this something the livesplit developers would have to add themselves?
YaBoyBTrue: its the RE community. the probability that everybody would get along is very slim. Wish it was different of course.
aaaahhhhh.... my head FailFish
Well it will help alot! Thanks guys 4Head Btw could Dchaps do some of his magic and fix a autosplitter? OpieOP
Had the same problem, my first guess is that you have to activate it in "Edit Splits" but it tells you that RE2 doesnt have an auto splitter. If we dont do that then we wouldnt be able to get the predetermine splits right?
Edit: Got it to work now. Read from the auto splitter for re3 that you need to start the timer yourself. when i clicked outside of the game window then livesplit stopped aswell :D
gonna continue to see were it will split.
Edit2: didnt split (played to ada shot), what did i miss? OMGScoots
Never used a auto splitter script before so i got a question.
Will this make Livesplit count by gametime (frames like IGT) or is it still realtime?
I've compared some of the doors now with a normal door and from my calculations they are all the same.
I started the framecount on the frame before it gets black and stop on the frame when you start to see leon again. Used a macro to "open + Wait + skip" the doors.
Normal Door: 2.10sec = 108frames 2.20sec = 105frames 2.30sec = 103frames 2.40sec = 100frames 2.50sec = 96frames 2.60sec = 91frames 2.70sec = 92frames 2.80sec = 96frames
RPD Door: 2.10sec = 107frames 2.20sec = 103frames 2.30sec = 100frames 2.40sec = 97frames 2.50sec = 96frames 2.60sec = 94frames 2.70sec = 93frames 2.80sec = 95frames
I did test other doors like going back to Ben, Sewer Elevator, etc but they turned out to be the same :/
Dchaps: Thanks for pointing that out. I've noticed this myself for the RPD door but i never thought that it would be the same for other doors. Gonna see how many frames you can save for RPD. RPD entrence, leaving marvin room, going back to Ben and the end of ada part1 is the ones i can think of atm.
Limburger10 makes a good point here. If we allow GCN EMU now while RE2 is still hot from all the remake hype we might get alot of new runners. Plus the new runners would probably want the fastest RTA version.
and when we've gathered all the new runners we'll delete the leaderboard and make them change to PC Kappa
I might be wrong here but does it really matter if Dolphine is unreliable? as far as i know all RE2 versions are timed by IGT so why would it matter?
Contradition: Personally I hold the view that emulators should only be used for practice and only the official versions should have a leaderboard. I live in a PAL country and i know how shit it is so i play the PC version for RE2/3. IF you dont wanna play the PC version then your only option would be for example import a console (which i have for Zelda alttp) or mod your current one. If its to expensive and you wanna speedrun for quite a while then you should start saving up.
Im not trying to insult anyone but thats my personal view.
Now, I want everybody to be happy in this so called community so im all for GCN EMU as long as the EMU is fair between those runners.
EDIT: btw who's up for adding the game.com version of RE2 as a category? Kappa
from my old calculation there is 163 doors (including stairs and ladders) in leon A. each door takes ruffly 5 seconds for mashing and 3 seconds (2.74 to be exact) for pressing at the doorknob. 163¤5 = 815sec = 13min 35seconds 163¤3 = 489sec = 8min 9 seconds 13:35 - 8:09 = 5min 26seconds
So if you mash every door you lose a total of 5min and 26seconds. Calculation is used by RTA so it itsnt exact on the second.
Installed the game yesterday and got the lag. Spended the rest of the day trying to fix it but nothing worked....
Tried every compability mode with and without admin, profile in nvidia panel didnt work. Only option i have for the graphics ingame is RGB emulation right now so I bet thats the problem.
I'll keep trying when I get home.
