While I love all the Super Butoden games, 2 has a particularly fun story mode to speedrun. It's been very nice to see this game get some really amazing runners of the past few years.
Aside from the Tournament modes being added for unlock characters and starting characters. Feel free to request things on this thread or directly DM.
If your interested in the run remember that the discord servers are available, Great places to talk about the tech or just the series in general.

There are some great events coming up which I will post about in the forum for those who are interested!
In July 2022 a ONE PIECE CARD GAME app was released along side the physical game. The game is overall really well done and offers a very balanced and fast paced approach by the nature of the "DON" system.
Currently, the app has been retitled to the "Tutorial App" so there most likely wont be any stages besides the Luffy and Kaido ones to clear unless the game is made digital.
If you like One Piece, Speedruns, Card Games or any of the above feel free to reach out on DM or post additional links to your content for this game below this thread or in the Anime Speedruns Discord over at https://discord.gg/YtMMvcB5Su
A historic game, and a fun interactive qte game experience. This game is worth playing for the visuals alone. However if you do decide to speedrun it and have a question please be sure to message in this thread.
I added the Sega CD version separately, since its the only port that seems to load and operate differently. There is an unofficial Amiga CD version as well, if there is a push from individuals to add more consoles I will but after some research they run nearly at the same speed between versions.
Galaxy Fight Universal Warriors is for sure on the obscure scale of fighting games but its also on the difficult side. There isn't much well documented about the game, and even owning the strategy guide we are still discovering new things. I decided to update the leaderboard since I was put in charge with rules that are fair for fighting games.
-Add versions
After some time, I finally added the Playstation and Saturn Variables of Galaxy Fight, It seems there are some major load differences. Luckily there are no emulated runs, but I think its best times be competitive to their respective hardware.
-Added Perfect Mode
I'm also still unaware of how the perfect mode occurs but essentially if you win all rounds, with no losses or continues you will fight the true boss. You can win or lose on this boss but I think it chooses the ending. Due to the difficulty I am not currently attempting this. I think it works on all difficulties but please let me know if you have information.
-Added character variables
Standard on leaderboards, but I didnt add the secret characters, I think they are only playable on versus mode. If there is a code or unlock list I would be more than happy to have it posted in the comments.
In addition, and as usual,
-Defined rules -Added difficulty for EASY, NORMAL, and HARD -Updated information and discord. -Rechecked and reattached current runs to the correct categories -verified pending runs.
I opted not to add the any percent (1 second) category which I think is available by holding start before rounds on arcade only.
Sorry there is a lot untested still. However that's usually the sign of a game that could use more routing. Hope to see new runners and old runners who might be up for a challenge.
Shaman King Funbari Spirits is a fun adventure versus fighting game for the PS2. It's not the best game, but it was enough to get me interested in the series.

Tested emulation and it runs very poorly for this game so I am going to ban it. If a new version or its shown running normal please message below.
This game can be a little intimidating because of the language gap but to fans of the series I am happy to help explain the route, maybe there is some things I am missing since I am new to the series.
Thank you again and please post below or message privately if there is any requests or suggestions regarding the game.
About 5 years ago I purchased this Shaman King game, and it sat in my closet for until 2021 when I decided to play it and was amazed to find probably one of the best fighting games, and certainly a great speedrun game.
I am very happy to update the leaderboard and add the main categories finally. I really look forward to more runners participating!
Here is a checklist of things that were done.
-
Main Category 'Amakusa Yoh Ro to Shaman King' added, this is the story mode.
-
Emulation and Console selection added to story mode.
-
Rules added for Main Game, and all categories, clearly defined.
-
Tested exactly what difficulty effects through help of members on speedrun.com
-
Tested emulation.
-
Added the Arcade category, 'Shaman Fight'
-
Added the character variable for 'Shaman Fight'
-
Split the 'Shaman Fight' mode by default characters and new game + characters. This can be changed on request or split into more sub categories if its shown fight numbers are different elsewhere as well.
-
Added 'Sudden Death' mode, the unlockable difficult arcade mode.
-
Added the character variable for 'Shaman Fight"
-
Renamed the old CPU vs category and moved it to misc.
-
Added the proper rules and split the category to avoid future problems or cheating.
-
Reattached and re verified all previous runs, including obsolete ones.
-
Added a new background and color theme.

In addition to all these changes, I want to invite members to suggest or request things in the thread below. I know the current WR holder Meksu san has been working on a guide and data for the game. So I hope to have a thread or that info available somewhere on this site as well.
This will continue to be one of my main marathon games, but I also want to support it because it really is a hidden gem of a fighting game on the PS1. Thank you for taking the time to read this thread.
DBZ speedrun fans, thank you for participating and following this leaderboard. This was one of the first leaderboards I was in charge of handling and it needed a power up.
The goal is to have a fun and fair leaderboard. If your new here, or an old fan, be sure to post any feedback or categories you might want to have added here.
I added several things that should have come to be standard for fighting game leaderboards, as well as, should be standard with the Butoden series.
-Fixed the rule sets for all categories and main rules. -Clarified the order needed for the 100% category. -Added Easy, Normal, Hardest, and 100% to Story Mode Sub category. -Easy is basically any% so the rules have been defined clearly. -Separated tournament mode by default, and secret characters unlocked. -Tournament difficulty was added. -Runs were double checked.
Thank you for your patience, and I hope current runners and future runners try their hand out at some of the modes this historical DBZ game has to offer.
I'm late to the Gamecube Naruto speedrun train, but is it possible to have time attack mode added as a main category for leaderboard. Its clearing 8 stages using an in game timer. You can also pick the character of your choice.
There is also a single player mode with 8 stages. According to the manual time attack is not affected by difficulty, however this mode is.
As a major fan of the series I have to admit Samurai Shodown 5 is the game I have played the least. I watched Neet Suhiro san's run and realized poppy is really strong but also that the difficulty is different. So I will be splitting the game into the NEO GEO default categories of Easiest LEVEL, Default LEVEL 4, and Hardest LEVEL 8 at some point in the next month or two.
My open question to everyone is, Should Poppy or other secret characters be separate? I am not sure of the tournament legality, as I have never participated or watched. If anyone knows please let me know, for now I will keep them together since its just a code at character select screen.
Shobu Ari!
Amen san did a fantastic run. My only request is that the leaderboard be split. You can only skip cutscenes after you have a cleared save file on a memory card. It’s technically a new game plus or cutscene skip (whatever name chosen is fine.)
I personally didn’t get around to doing the destrega run yet but it would be nice to have both categories for marathons. Japanese and English versions don’t seem to make a difference either.
Is it possible to have IGT and RTA time on the same game for separate categories?
The game I am trying to set up is Arcana Heart (several games in the series), where the Story Mode has a in game timer built in. However, the Arcade Mode, does not have a timer built in and will only show the players high score at the end. The modes are slightly different.
I realize that I could make the board just go off of real time for all categories, however I would like to keep them separate. Is there a way to do this? Let me know if you have ideas or if there is a trick in setting up the leaderboards to do this.
Thank you for reading.
This fighting game was a real special treat when I discovered the SNES classic had been added to the Virtual Console for Switch. I want to thank PeanutFan who passed the leaderboards over to me. I used this time to update several things about the game:
-
Split the versions of each game to reflect the major differences in text. Read below to read about possible other reasons.
-
Added the four characters as variables.
-
Updated the rules with standard format I use, and added the notes from PeanutFan and NerdyNesters comment on banned SNES emulators.
-
Further researched the game.
This is a pretty fun fighter for the snes so I hope more speedrunners give it a try, and it feels like there are tons more glitches and routes to be found.
Here is a video which I had to deny but I wanted it to be clear, I think this run Is amazing, but user daradarach uses an input that uses the second controller so the run has to be denied. However, this is worth a watch as it COMPLETLY BREAKS the game. Wild.
Be sure to post in this thread if you have questions or would like to see additional things on the leaderboard!
With the game finally coming out on switch, I finally had decided to go ahead and grab the game. And to my surprise, Digital Crafter has made a really fun experience. One that might even say is a good stepping grounds for people first experience fighting games. Of course I did a speedrun, and decided to clean up and fix the leaderboard after running the game and researching about it.
I'm not expecting the game to garner much traction as a speedrun but as always I still felt the leaderboards should be done correctly, and some things explained.
PC version - As always with newer games loading can be impacted by what computer, solid state, parts you are using. The PC / Steam version is the most up to date.
PS4 version - Name changes for certain characters, which I made sure to note when adding the characters in the variables section of speedrun.com.
Switch version - Susanoo and Tudigong are missing from this version, along with netplay. Load times are fairly long.
Arcade version - Beliar is an exclusive character to this version. However, the exA-Arcadia arcade cabinet is almost non existent in Japan so I can't actually test load times, combos.
If anyone has suggestions or questions about the game or board, post here or private message on the site.
Finally a new Guilty Gear is out. Beautiful and with a revamped feel. This time around the game has many systems to extend your characters options, while being more rooted in using normal attacks. This game has been released on PC, PS4, and PS5. As of typing this the Arcade version is delayed. Guilty Gear Strive has some major differences which I think could make this the most interesting entry in the series to speedrun yet.
-Instant Kills
Most interesting to note is that Instant Kills are not available in this version. This means there is a lot of room for discovery in your time attacks.
-Arcade Mode
Arcade Mode speedruns have no system settings. Instead this time the game changes based on how well you play, sometimes (most of the time), lowering in difficulty if you lose a round. So far the difficulty paths are NORMAL, HARD, and EXTREME. A still confusing note to me was the game seems to start you at random difficulties but I wasn't sure what impacted them. If anyone finds out I would be curious to know.
I decided against splitting the leaderboard for difficulty currently because of this. Since its not a dip switch or setting the variables are difficult to rate. There is also the issue of dropping up and down a difficulty path, as well as a chance that sometimes a partner will come help you. The other reason was losing on purpose can arguably take more time, even if the game is getting easier, while extreme, the game gets harder its really only the last boss Nagoriyuki (Can we call him Extreme Nago san?) who is overpowered and VERY difficult. So technically blasting through everything and somehow steamrolling would be the fastest path.
-Mission Mode
Clear all the missions from start to finish, Every mission gives you 5 attempts so an interesting thing to see would be how everyone fails 2 times on purpose, since sometimes failing could be faster since you only need to clear 3 of the 5 attempts each missions.
-Mission Mode Levels
Mission mode levels are set to individual leaderboards so not to clutter the leaderboard.
-Versions
Having experience with another Ark Sys Game, DBZ Fighterz, I really am strongly against separating versions. Its impossible to manage in my opinion. Even people playing on PS4 and PS5 can run the game of solid state drives, reducing the load times between fights. PC is even worse, with sometimes load times not existing at all, this is the issue with newer games with no real load screen built in as far as I understand.
I also am at a disadvantage because I am running on the OLD version PS4. The only way to make this fair would be to have someone time EVERY run, this was tried on other boards and it is a lot of work eventually leading to major problems. If someone out there wants to volunteer to this position I am happy to accept, but again I don't think its a long last or good solution. I don't want to do that because it would take time from playing this game competitively and speedrunning, verifying other games. I realize the version issue is unfair to certain degrees.
The best solution is if we got a list of people who wanted to speedrun, and asked Ark Sys Works to please put a timer in the games Arcade, so no matter which version it would be tracked the same.
Leave a comment below if thats something you want. I would actually translate and send it to contacts at the company. Also please comment if you want to discuss rules or anything posted above or related to the game.
Im using Faust currently so I will post my runs shortly after, everyone in this game has great combos, so I know there are even crazier times to be seen and faster characters strategies.
Hi primal ragers,
Was doing my month of research for this game, the Arcade version this time. And it seems there are several versions. One of the Roms I booted into said version 2.3.
Was curious if anyone could shed light onto this, the only physical board access I have to a 3000 in 1 set installed on a local machine.
What are the major differences? which is being played majority of the time? And lastly which is the acceptable file to use for the run. I thought about messaging on discord but maybe some others could add to this or even explain the history of it.
Samurai Shodown 2, besides the most recent 2019 edition, I have a lot of bias towards this release in the series. The combat is well paced, every character feels strong and balanced, and overall brought a lot of great techniques to the game.
Update to Leaderboard:
-Removed all the level sets besides 1,4, 8. There were no runs recorded on those difficulties. -Added rules, with same formatting as the other Samurai Shodown Leaderboards. -Added Character Variables -Updated runs with correct characters. -Double checked all previous runs.
Same as the other leaderboards, anyone who wants to make an icon or banner, it will gladly be accepted.
