What causes this is RNG not working the same way on GBC and Gambatte-Speedrun. Gambatte-Speedrun has the GBA/GBP RNG, which the manips we have are made to work with.

If mods were adding all meme categories on speedrun.com, there would be a shit ton of useless leaderboards with very few runners in, All Trainers being one of them. I mean, you already have 4 categories, 250+ runners in the Glitchless leaderboard, why would you add a bunch of random leaderboards for max 5 runners each ?

"To Lance" was a Japanese-only category (also available for G/S/C), that got added in here with all JP leaderboards earlier this year. There has always been only 1 glitchless category in English for this game, that implied going all the way to Red since you need to beat him to actually beat the game. I don't think English to Lance is gonna be added, since you don't really beat the game if you stop after E4 Round 1, therefore not getting the Kanto badges or playing against Red.

Because it's basically a glitched run without save corruption, so it follows the rules of any% NSC.

Btw, how would you name it ? "Any% No Save Corruption But The Only Glitch Allowed Is Level 1 Encounters In Viridian Forest" ? That's super long but I can't see a shorter accurate description of the category :v

Emulator times can be submitted to leaderboards, they're just hidden by default for gen 3 onwards. If you change the settings you'll be able to see them with the console runs.

For trusting issues, being in a voice channel on Discord with 3DS sound on can make things easier (we have a server here https://discord.gg/AzKKCSB , even if it's barely alive)... For the schedule and time zones, a 1-week deadline for each round should be enough for players to find 1h30 of free time in common to do the race, imo.

Okay, maybe I was wrong, these times look fine. Anyway, I still don't get how a good run from a top player could lose almost 12 minutes to this one. Even if you're better than Gogoku (which must be the case if this is legit), let's say you can sub 1h20 glitchless. You'd still need to cut 10 extra minutes, and that looks too much to me, even with all glitches (especially since there are only 7 tracks with glitches iirc). Maybe you can go much lower than 1h20 glitchless and that would explain the gap, but given how good Gogoku's run is, it doesn't seem possible to me.

I don't think we have one already, but I'm not really familiar with creating a server on Discord, so I think it'd be better if someone else created it than if I did xD

1:10:06 with loads is 100% impossible. It has to be your time without loads, and that's not how All Cups leaderboard works...

Coming back to the real topic, this tournament is a good idea, I'd be happy to join it ~ We could do a little test before summer with the "active" runners here, and then launch the big one if everything goes well ^^

"Single segment" basically means "no reset". In this case, it means you're not allowed to restart a track, i.e. you only have 1 try for each. (obviously, if you entered the wrong track you can exit and go to the right one) You can still reset the game when you crossed the finish line of a track, like we do now in All Cups but I think it's slower than waiting here. (even though the loading times doesn't count in the run since it uses IGT) The obligation for the run to be single-segment is probably just common sense for this category anyway, but better be clear.

Btw, did a 100cc (Glitchless) run on Monday when I got sick of Pokémon Red RNG, got a 1:33:48 but I don't consider it worth uploading atm, because "terrible run will be beaten soon" DansGame

This would be a separate category, just like the Hoverless runs in Super Mario Sunshine. Of course, there are a few shortcuts/glitches you couldn't take/execute, but that's what would make the category different.

It would be a nice addition to the unofficial leaderabords though, I had completely forgotten about this one.

I personally just start mashing HOME after I cut the finish line xD I did a run like 2 weeks ago (PB'd "only" by 33 seconds when saving 1:04 on loads, I didn't consider it worth uploading/submitting since I could easily beat it by 30 seconds), I can say that on a European old 3DS with cartridge (the slowest possible setup ?) it saves 722 after Special Cup, so the overall timesave is about 1:05 (really close to 1:10 if you are frame perfect, imo).

I didn't think of that, but the "All missions complete" star is a good final split time, way more accurate with a shorter window. You're right, we should change 100% final time to this instead (btw, it makes Danielfran's 100% time a 3:03 instead of a 3:04 now)

For Danielfran's run, actual start time is at 0:06 on the video ("Start" message on first puzzle), which means the actual times are 3:04 for 100% (ending timer at fadeout was correct because we need to see missions get validates, even if the rules say to stop timer at "Clear") and 2:54 for Any% (here, stop the timer at "Clear" on last puzzle - 3:00 on the video - as mentioned on the rules since there is no need to check missions).

Mods, could you please change his times and the timing rules for 100% Area runs ? Thanks a lot o/ (or if you don't want/don't have time/don't give a sh¤t, add me temporarily as a mod so that I can do everything, and take my sword back afterwards - 3 mods are enough, no need for a 4th one ^^)

It won't be obsoleted, but it will only appear if you select the filter "Glitch Usage - No". Your glitched PB will still be the only run of yours to appear by default on the leaderboard (if it's the best one, obviously)

I was not 100% sure but then I found an example with TGH's Pokémon Red Any% Glitchless runs, his "emu PB" appears if you choose to only make emu runs appear, but the default leaderboard only shows his console PB

Wow, solid post, 100% useful and constructive, gonna help the discussion to progress. A few reminders :

• all the categories we have were added right when the game got leaderboards, so it wouldn't be "keep adding categories" but as I said, TRY to FINALLY add something new
• "keep the game active" Where do you see any constant activity ? I'm curious. There are barely 3 new runs per month. And I didn't say adding a new category will "make MK7 great again"™, I just meant adding a new category won't bring down the activity as it's close to zero.

FiliVig asked here http://www.speedrun.com/mk7/thread/03usd why 50cc and 100cc didn't have their own categories, I thought it would be a good idea to add All Cups 50cc, All Cups 100cc, and All Cups Mirror here (and the 30 other Cup/Nitro/Retro categories if you have enough patience, but I don't think we really need these). What do you think ? (I'd gladly take these other free WRs btw Kappa )
