Hey hayate,
Yeah there is a discord server, it's for all the Ace Combat games including Ace Combat 2. Here is the server invite link to it.
Hey everyone, just thought I'd pop in and advertise Wipeout Pure(https://www.speedrun.com/wo_pure) for anyone who likes racing games or may have seen gameplay of other wipeout games and wanted to try one out. The game has a lot of tracks for it if you pick up the EU version and they both have time trial and speed lap modes with 5 speed classes making for a lot of times anyone can go for.
-This game released for the PSP so emulators like PPSSPP are allowed and used by most and we accept runs done on actual hardware as well.
-The community is decently sized but active and quite competitive.
-There is a Discord set up for this game and all the other games in the series if you wanted to try any of those as well.
Sorry about that, it should be good now all the DLC ships including puma 1 are on the list. I would have done it sooner but SRC is a pain to navigate on mobile.
Yeah that rule was something that was written a long time ago before System and I were added as mods. Looking at it, it doesn't really make sense considering the use of ships like Zone and Triakis are allowed. So we're going to go ahead and remove that rule and have all the ships in the game, unlockable & DLC, be allowed for all runs in all the categories.
I know on the three ps2 games rules for IL runs it says emulators are not allowed but I was just curious if this still holds true or could be something that could change or at the very least discussed for those three games. I know the main ps2 emulator, PCSX2, wasn't 100% accurate in the past when these rules were made, but with the more time has passed to me at least it feels extremely accurate to original hardware when playing games on it. This is all just how I perceive it and I could be wrong but in case I'm not I would be happy to see either emu runs next to original hardware runs on the board or have then separate like how full game runs are separate. I want to do runs in all of these games but lack of availability in the original stuff limits me from doing so. So sorry in advance if this is some common question that has been asked to death here.
Sure here you go https://discord.gg/YNU7UhvX2g
WipeoutZone is pretty much gone for right now, from what I remember the admin running the site has been busy and shut down new members registering due to a lot of bot influx and before that the site was hacked. I saw that the admin was planning on fixing everything and getting the site up and running but has been too busy to do so. The only hubs I know where people are active are few discord servers that are up and a website. One of the discord servers is the r/Wipeout server for general things wipeout and other similar games and the other is the wipeout speedruns discord that is linked on a few of the games leaderboards. The website is wipeoutrankings.com I know a few runners like Foden and Ewito do runs over there frequently. Other then those I don't know of any other hubs that are currently active for wipeout.
Alright then, I have one set up right now. Can't hurt to make one at the very least. Here is the link to it for you and anyone else who wants to join in. Hopefully all goes well with the original goal I had and I'll reach out and see if the mods of all the games want to add it to the pages of their respective games. https://discord.gg/YNU7UhvX2g
This is something that I have been tossing around in my mind for quite a while now and I want to throw it out to get a judgement on it from everyone and see how other people feel about it or if there are any other suggestions.
There was a discord server created before for this community, but it seems to be gone since the server invite sent in the last forum post has expired and hasn't been updated with a new one. This made me wonder if a new one should be made for the series as a whole, communication between everyone and as something people may join if they are curious about running the games as a whole. As they would have people they could talk to or receive help from or even give help to others. I see this with other communities and so it's why I had this idea for a while. The downside of it is this community is quite small compared to some but I do see it work for communities around the size of this series and my general hope/goal of this would be this server could somehow be used to increase the size, or atleast bring more awareness to people who may be interested in wipeout speedruns. This is just a general idea and I wanted to get some input from other users about this whole idea and see what the general consensus on all of it is, whether it is a good idea or not or if there are some alternatives people would wish to pursue. Let me know what yall think about it and what should be done all together. Thanks.
That makes sense considering other wipeout games do it based on that like with wipeout 3. Either way is fine with me just whatever makes it easier for everyone involved.
One thing that comes to mind for me is maybe splitting the IL stuff into fastest lap and time trial. I notice how certain other wipeout games do this such as Omega and Pulse and my main reason as to suggesting this is how there are certain runs that are verified as a normal time trial as opposed to the normal speed lap. Like with the phantom runs and certain venom runs. I don't know if this would clutter the leaderboards or not but I just think it would simplify certain parts and I know if this does get implamented I would do runs in both categories. But if it does then I'd understand it not adjusting it.
Ah ok that makes more sense for it and its all good no need to beat yourself up for it It was just something that made me curious and not angry or anything negative. I'll still run this game no matter what mode it is on so you can take your time on fixing it or changing it in anyway and thank you for being an active mod that approves times and responds to this type of stuff you defiantly do a better job then the 2097 mods lol.
I agree with that. Splitting them at least would keep the times already done on single race instead of making them obsolete or removing them entirely and then people could move over to time trial if they don't want to deal with the ai and randomness and just want to see who's fastest based on track knowledge and skill.
I had someone comment on one of my videos asking wouldn't be more immersive if these were done on time trial instead of single race. I told him we did single race just because the other two runs for individual levels were on single race but it got me curious. Why are the level races done in single race and not time trial like other wipEout games are done is there a specific reason or do we not have to do it in single race at all and we could have done it in time trial all this time?
Oh ok I just wanted to make sure thank you both for the help hope to submit some times soon.
I was interested in running this game's individual levels and I saw that runs were done on original hardware. I was just curious if emus are allowed for this game and if so which is the one that is accepted?
Oh ok thank you for the response. I'll probably go with ePSXe since I've used it a bit before and so I now how to set it up and everything. Thank you once again.
I'm very interested in speedrunning this game as I've always enjoyed the strider series and found this one to be the most enjoyable when I played them years back. So I'm wondering what is the best emulator to use for this game so I can install it and start practicing and hopefully start doing runs soon.
Ah ok I see thank you for answering
