I don't know what to do then. I never had that problem with Nestopia. It could be something to do with the fact that your laptop is bad, but other then that, I don't have any more guesses.

I don't think it's an intended feature unless i'm missing something. Did you try emulators like FCEUX and Bizhawk?

could you use an nes controller hooked up to a computer? does that even work?
