Full Flagpole Glitch or FFPG is when you clip into the bottom of a flagpole enough so the flagpole doesn't go down and you fall behind the block under the flagpole. Since SMB starts counting down the timer when you hit a block, the timer will count down sooner than if you do it regularly, saving some time.
