Sheldon - Look, I haven't spoken to you in over a year for obvious reasons. It's counter-productive to me making content and growing my channel. MarcFirewing was right, continuing to talk to you caused more problems than it fixed, so I quit immediately. You know why I wanted to know why you were playing on emulator? Because I came from a community that required everyone to play the games on an actual console. One of them unfairly claimed WR over a run that I did on console, with a shittier run that they played on emulator, and refused to acknowledge that there was already an entire world set in place by the speedrunning community, and even said "fuck you" to an entire group of people out of sheer hubris.

I said yes, and he asked me if I would like to start leaderboards on speedrun.com. After I thought about it, I said "yes", he gave me super mod for the entire series. That is exactly how it went.

I'm trying to make amends for the mistakes I've made, because over time I realized that the way I did things by getting rid of moderator privileges was NOT the way to do it. I have the capacity to take responsibility and admit my mistakes. Why are you so afraid to admit yours? Let me get one thing clear - I don't dislike the French. At all. That is the reason why I made this thread, not to address the French community as a whole, but to sort through the individuals that have a problem with me and attempt to make things right. That is mainly what this thread is about, because yes, I did alter a lot against everyone's will while trying to set things up for this site to become more 'automatic'.

What I want EVERYONE in the French community to understand is I wanted a more democratic system for the entire community from the start of the wiki, but I had no idea how to organize it, especially when there were individuals who were angry at me and literally NOBODY had a centralized way of communicating with each other. Everyone was in their own communities; skype groups. None of them were connected, everyone was only added by invite, and nobody made an effort to reach out anywhere else.

I see that even people I've barely even spoken to are angry as well, and their friends are angry by proxy. That's fine. But staying in a skype group is only creating a hive for people to talk amongst themselves without actually confronting the problem. That is why I voluntarily left every skype group that invited me, as soon as I realized what was going on. That's called a "gated community". We need to work as a unit if we're going to settle our problems, and I haven't even personally spoken to most of you nor even put myself in a position where a dialogue can be opened.

I've been taking better care to put myself in positions where I do not have to exercise my supermod power. During the Turbo debate, I was asked to chime in, but all I did was act as a mediator and try to defuse fights while other people figured out the solution. The community came to the solution to eliminate Turbo runs; not me.

This is my way of starting to make more things happen the way EVERYONE wants, and if we can cooperate, we can still make speedrun.com work. But like it or not, I have to take it upon myself to make sure this community doesn't sink because of some choices I made over the last two years.

The format back then was incorrect and it was impossible to make sure that everyone was satisfied. It is different now that there is a central place to TALK. Not fling insults, be presumptuous, or make emotionally charged arguments: TALK. Can we please work together?

One more thing: if you are getting twisted up because I am not "immediately" responding to you, then you are completely missing the point of the forum; on a forum or BBS, people are supposed to respond to each other at each others' leisure and also elaborate on issues thoroughly and diligently. This takes time, so take your time. It's not a chatroom, and I am not sitting on here every moment of every day, because I have work to do.

I have to clear time out of my schedule to do it, especially because my undivided attention is required for content production on Twitch and YouTube. That is my excuse.

Unless you are willing to discuss things thoroughly, objectively, and diligently, I am pruning these posts and get rid of them to remain on topic. I don't have time for games, just solutions.

Deadhunter - I misworded that post and really I should've thought to add some context instead of leaving you to fill in your own; English is not your primary language, and that is my fault. I did not mean to make my message sound like the entire French community was at fault, and I'm sorry.

It started when I removed your PAL Dino Crisis 2 run from the wiki. I was trying to figure out WHAT to do with it because it was a WR and so were other runs, and I handled that whole thing poorly. I made a separate leaderboard for PAL runs, but by the time I did, it was too late and it was impossible to try to make you happy. You were dead set on hating me after that.

I removed your moderator power on the DC2 board here, because I was afraid you wouldn't be able to co-operate with me on how to make it better. Eleval asked me why I did it, I agreed it was kinda fucked up, but I didn't know what else to do because you were so angry.

Even so, you're right, I didn't even run that game. Right now, I want to believe that everything is right now that the Dino Crisis series is running itself. I'm going to remove myself as supermod from that series soon.

As for Panda - I saw he "didn't like the way I ran things" on Twitter. Consequentially, I uninstalled him too, for the same reason. I was afraid he wouldn't be cooperative. I was probably wrong. But that is also because there has never been a central forum to discuss anything about what to do. Now that people are using it, there is, and everything said is all on record.

I don't have to run this leaderboard the way I ran things on the wiki now that there is a forum where centralized discussion takes place; I'm recognizing that, I'm trying to get others to recognize that, and I'm trying to do everything I can do to help calm this mess because I don't want to have to dedicate time to this place.

Neroazur - Maybe there is nothing wrong. I assumed you had a problem with me after the whole thing about the infinite ammo case in the nemesis% runs on the wiki. Sandalphoo and maybe one other person chimed in and I assumed there was something worse going on than there actually was.

Skullbot - That was fucked up, and I am sorry. I didn't know you, I didn't know anyone else pre-installed to run those boards. Please refer to my reply to Deadhunter. There is a system in place, and it's ironing itself out now.

GarlMemory - Yes, the 'same people run the board'. But I'm trying to move everything into a position where everyone in a particular game's community mods their own games. I did wrong by a couple of your friends, and I came to that conclusion on my own.

I was made aware of a letter to Pac_. Pac_ doesn't care. It's in poor taste to bug him with one community's issues when there's a million other leaderboards to care about, so writing him a letter trying to "oust me" and put words into my mouth is shitty to him.

Without namecalling or telling me "you know what you did" (trust me, I can't remember all of it, I'm really too busy to deal with infighting), start from the top. If you have a problem for me to explain or apologize for (and I do have things to apologize for) then now's your time to do it, because I've said numerous times (usually on deaf ears) that I'm trying to make things work over here.

This goes double to the French community. There were problems, most of it started with an altercation I had with deadhunter during the wiki. There were only skype groups and nobody used the comments sections on the wikis to discuss anything. Forums are better for opening dialogues about this stuff. That's why I'm posting this here, because the format is different and obviously things need to be handled differently.

In other words, get out of your fucking skype groups and discuss this in a public forum where anyone can see it. Let's hash this out like normal people.

I dismantled that skype group because I saw that it was creating a gated community where people circlejerked and never discussed anything as a community. On top of that, they created their own little 'clique' and it caused a massive divide.

Sephjul, I can tell you from 2 years of experience of having tried to hold this community together that this skype group is a fucking awful idea and you should dismantle it immediately.

I avoided the turbo issue because I knew it would cause a massive witchhunt like this. It did last time, and I removed ALL the turbo variables for this reason. We can't prove whether someone used turbo or not. Really, we can't. Guitarjunky, Dchaps, and Tabor have shown that QSing can be done with 100% consistency if you have the correct mash rhythm. It stands to logic that Trance can do the same thing, so I don't know how the hell you guys are getting off on calling him a cheater. Trance does NOT deserve this treatment one bit.

Has anyone in this thread watched any of Trevor Seguin's runs? If you want to call Trance's menus into question, go watch any of Trevor Seguin's old runs. Most of those runs are actually a million times better than anything any of us have worked on. He has faster menuing than anyone I have ever seen play this game and nobody has come close. None. This was back during SDA. We would have found this out.

I haven't read this entire thread, but Guitarjunky, et al who are complaining about Turbo - If you're going to proofcall someone, do not hurl insults at them. I appreciate your concern, but I do not appreciate your attitude toward people who have used Turbo vs. people who don't. It's extremely disrespectful and I am ashamed that this is how you think.

The Japanese players used turbo for years and nobody cared, mostly because they were all in their own insular bubbles and US/Euro vs. Japan communities and all had their own rules. They didn't interfere with us, we didn't interfere with them. They just did their own thing, we did our own thing. Now that we're trying to hash rules out, you're exerting your ego and calling everyone 'pussies'. That is fucking terrible and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

An entire country of players who didn't even know our community existed had been using Turbo for years and were brought to a concensus that it's OK. Those people did nothing wrong, and there is no reason cause a divide between people (especially our community and an entire country of players as big as we are) for doing different things.

Think about how it would feel to be one of the Japanese players who used Turbo. Nobody in their country cared, everyone did it. Suddenly, you have all these fucking westerners coming out saying that you cheated when your own culture hasn't viewed it as cheating. World records are completely subjective, and each community/person is free to call it what they see fit.
