We only add Categories to the leaderboards that are already established in the community. I encourage you to run anything you are interested in and post your runs in the forums or the discord. Maybe others will like your inspiration and pick it up. I run a lot of non made challange categories or runs myself, without the intention of ever adding them to the leaderboard.
Hello everyone,
We recently conducted a community-wide vote to decide on potential changes to our administration system, aiming to balance admin efficiency with meaningful community involvement. Here's a simplified summary of the results and how these changes will work going forward:
The community voted for the Representative System with Community Input (Option 1).
- Admin Decision-Making:
- Admins handle minor and most major decisions with a 75% majority vote.
- For major decisions, the community will be informed, and feedback will be gathered.
- Community Votes:
- If admins are deadlocked or believe a vote is necessary, a community vote will be triggered.
- Admins can approve community-voted decisions with a simple majority (lower than the usual 75% threshold).
The community voted for Option 2: Supermajority Vote of No Confidence.
- Triggering a Vote:
- Any community member can propose a "Vote of No Confidence" via a designated bot command.
- 10 reactions are required within 3 days to initiate the process.
- Voting and Results:
- The vote lasts for 3 days.
- To dismiss the admin team, the vote must pass with a two-thirds majority.
- If passed, reelections are triggered for a new admin team.
The community decided to maintain the current system (Option A: Rely on Existing Tools).
- Community proposals will be reviewed by the admin team. If rejected:
- The proposal can be revisited through existing mechanisms, like the Vote of No Confidence or regular elections.
- No new systems, like forced binding votes, will be added.

Hello everyone, we are currently voting for a new Admin Team Election System over at the Factorio Speedrunning Discord! Make sure to get your vote in: https://discord.com/channels/260103071017730048/285528445109272578/1238849335345680434
You can vote if you have submitted at least one speedrun in the past. If you can't access the channel, please head over to https://discord.gg/zUgbdnYZ and ask one of the moderators for the role.
The debug menu is not supposed to be part of the gameplay. Therefore the idea is that no debug options are allowed. All exceptions allowed from it are only due to historical reasons. Just use a watch.
Dexametason has been banned from the Factorio Speedrunning leader boards indefinitely due to cheating (usage of mouse macros). Any cheated submissions have been removed from the leader boards on speedrun.com .
Discussing the matter is fine, but please mind that we show zero tolerance regarding harassment towards any involved party regardless of platform.
On The Factorio Leaderboard we use a version variable for each submission. Unfortunately, we can only add new values to the bottom of the list, while we want the newest version on top. This means that every time a new version releases, we have to press the "move up" button about 100 times which is fairly annoying, as you have to wait for one second after each press for it to update.
I'd request the possibility to move new values to the top more easily ("move to top" button/ "add on top" button/ drag values to move them faster)

Sounds pretty cool. It's still hard to detect stuff like blue science which is mostly assemblers, when you improvised a bit and added another one previously the condition is like 144 assemblers or something wierd. Is there a chance you can detect something like "12asm that have set the blue science receipt" ? At this point is would be really useful.
I can confirm that this is problem specifically with people that are new to speed-running and streaming that don't know about the auto deletion of Twitch VODs.
Thanks for reporting,
I wrote PM's to the runners, they probably did submit twitch VODs instead of highlights that got deleted after 60 days. Maybe they still have a local copy.
A new rule has been voted on by the community and comes into effect immediately. This is to allow for running on a working version, if the current release is broken and a hot-fix is on the way.
Old Rule: •̶ ̶T̶h̶e̶ ̶r̶u̶n̶ ̶m̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶b̶e̶ ̶p̶e̶r̶f̶o̶r̶m̶e̶d̶ ̶o̶n̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶l̶a̶t̶e̶s̶t̶ ̶s̶t̶a̶b̶l̶e̶ ̶o̶r̶ ̶l̶a̶t̶e̶s̶t̶ ̶e̶x̶p̶e̶r̶i̶m̶e̶n̶t̶a̶l̶ ̶p̶a̶t̶c̶h̶ ̶a̶v̶a̶i̶l̶a̶b̶l̶e̶.̶
Replacement • The run must be performed on a version that was the latest stable or experimental version within 48 hours of the start of the run.
Vote Result:
@Player209 The community usually refrains from adding categories that have no active runners yet. The categories are voted on by all Speedrunners in direct democracy. They usually pass the vote if we find at least 2 active runners in a category. If you want a category to be added, Speedrun it and it may be picked up by others and eventually be added to the leader-boards.
Closed.
