Ah, must have gone by a different name then.
EDIT: Nvm, I remember this guy now. Though I had a run that already existed long before that run came out (11 years ago lol). I was thinking about making a page for this for a while before then.
MMPD and I originally found this on Underwater Strike in Ghost Bear's Legacy, and I wondered if it was able to be reliably done on Temper Edge and Umber Wall. Well I am pleased to say that it is not only possible, but reliable as well!! We no longer have to sit through a 10 or 8 minute long mission anymore! This skip can be done on any level that you can get stuck in except for Velvet Hammer since there are many areas you can run into. It also helps to have jets to maintain speed so you don't hit the ground, go out of bounds and fail the mission.
Here are the skips in question:
I've never heard of you, so I don't think so lol. Did you do a run of this game?
From what I've seen. It looks good. I have no complaints.
yeah, that would be nice if we had that as a separate category! Thanks!
So this glitch works in 31cc as well, but there's a way to skip missions where you:
100% complete a trial while using a dummy mech variant (a copy of an existing mech variant)
Go to combat simulator after completing the mission
Select the mech and mech variant you are using in your campaign
Delete the variant you are using
Go back to campaign and start the mission
What ends up happening is that it skips the mission and loads a previous victory instead. If there is no previous victory, the mission will fail and the mission won't be skipped.
Now for the amendment
We also found a method to skip underwater strike, but that doesn't require a mech to be deleted, so I propose that we allow the underwater strike glitch in the full bloodname% category since it is done using the speed glitch and the only way for it to work is to complete all of trial 3 beforehand. Since it does not use the mech deleting glitch, it should be allowed.
I'm mainly asking because I would like to keep the ability to fully run the game without using the mech deleting glitch to make runs more fun in the long run while at the same time, having a nice way to skip a mission that, quite frankly, everyone hates in the full bloodname% and have a separate category for the mech deleting glitch.
We shall await your verdict:
In the meantime, here's a run that demonstrates both the underwater strike skip and the mech deletion skip as well:
I feel like that isn't exactly accessible, especially for people who don't have older machines. Honestly though, starmate skipping seems faster anyways since you have to wait for the CD to do what it needs to. It does take some advanced preparation which makes it a hassle though. Also I could only see that working with wolf campaign as far as skipping temper edge, but again, if you don't have an older machine, it kind of prevents people playing it on emu from doing it.
huh, never heard of that one, can it be done on command without the file manipulation?
probably should add that heat tracking should be on, unlimited ammo and invincibility should be off
You need to land on one of the barrels so you don't get stuck, then try to get as much forward momentum as you can by sprinting slightly and jumping over the gate. As long as you target the gate, you'll be fine, but try not to hit the fence while doing it. It took a lot of practice for me to get consistent at doing it.
Starmate Skips which can be done by anyone should be allowed. Changing files around should not though.
btw, when I bring this up, I'm referring the full campaign
Ever since the discovery of the mission skipping in mech 2, I was thinking about having separate categories. One for completing every mission and another for just utilizing starmate skipping.
I have, it's just that I'm always slightly one second shy. I can't even count how many times I've booked it at the beginning rapidly tapping M and then N to grind for that second, but unfortunately, the MFBs have almost always stopped at 2:01. There were moments when the mission would succeed the moment the timer switched to 2:01. It's a frustrating scenario, but I just have to keep grinding. I've gotten pretty good at this mission now, actually lol. I can do it almost flawlessly at this point.
yeah, it would help to destroy all the tanks. I should have done that to improve the overall time, but I wanted to show off the ability to destroy all the M4 objectives early, especially since my 0:40 in the next mission was a result of that
yeah, I believe it's possible too, but the missiles take way too long. I almost did get a 0:39, but a microsecond before the factory blew up, it ended up being 0:40.
thx, I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong as far as approaching the missile platforms. I can't seem to kill them quite as fast. Yeah, I use the zoom feature for this mission so I can look at the positioning of the APCs. Turns out that we have the Owens to blame for the APCs acting up 90% of the time
Yeah, there's just too much rng in that level. I find making the radar bigger helpful
