As far as I know, Cazpersky used S' route which can be found here: https://www.speedrun.com/gtasa/guide/p9ekg
Noone does full game runs on console anymore, so I get that splitting console and pc versions there would be pointless. For IL's I think the split would be more than logical, which is the most apparent when watching the school course IL's.
On that subject, this run is mistimed: https://www.speedrun.com/gtasa/run/y8j804xz The course is finished in 1 frame, which at 30fps would make it 33ms. Rhans used a different trick to finish the course in 1 frame, which at 25fps makes it 40ms.
Before DE came out, OG and Remastered got separate versions, both in full game categories as in the IL's. After DE and Remastered were completely separated from the original versions, I think the logical next step would be separating console and PC versions.
Especially in the IL's it really shows there's a big difference in what's possible stratwise, and in difference between 30 and 25 fps in races, as Tier4Jean already mentioned here: https://www.speedrun.com/post/2qa4z
I would love to see the list of IL speedruns being complete. Some "missions" in the game aren't viable for an IL though since they're score based and not speedbased. (Like Beefy Baron, the arcades).
If possible, having a scoreboard for those kind of "missions" would be nice too but I'm not sure if it's possible to set that up?
I think going around the right of the roulette wheel in Gulliver House II and keeping almost top speed should save time over going around the left side since you lose a lot of speed.
I also think that jumping the hairpin in the same level using Dynamite is faster than using Jump.
Wow, that's a really nice and extensive list of skips and tricks. Great post SaffronCitizen! It's great to see you guys have revolutionized this old game!
Maybe you can post your recent findings here for future speedrunners to reap the benefits if hey ever decide to run this game @kyletx500 and @SaffronCitizen :)
Wow, you guys have been really busy improving on knows strats! Very nice to see this game being run again!
Nice strategies, not all new though, I did my races with Raptor & Raptor and did most of the skips in my runs. Does only Raptor & Raptor drive faster in reverse or all the characters? (I did not know about this) I didn't know about the dynamite but that only works when driving in reverse ofcourse.
Very nice run, looking forward to the next improvent!
It'll either get a seperate category [Original | Remastered | Definitive Edition], or perhaps the games will get seperate leaderboards completely - which is more unlikely.
Caz, Hoxi, you make a good point on which I can agree. Also, it's nice to see you guys are responding to forum threads quickly - much appreciated.
I fully stand by this. Especially since quite some runs has been done already. I personally can't wait to see more people try these, not only the LS ones, but also the other 3. I think it's a great idea!
Glad that's coming from you cazpersky, the supermod that had: "any issues with SA moderation? come here!" as a stream title and responded with: "congrats, your runs are now last in verification priority, hope that's a lesson never to ask to verify your runs :) " as a response to people that try to address an issue.
Thanks for finally splitting the IL boards and have a nice day. <3
Maybe I should bump this thread again aswell? https://www.speedrun.com/gtasa/thread/8b6e7
I think the point Tier4Jean is trying to make is that sometimes "run X" is submitted days or weeks before "run Y", but "run Y" is verified days or sometimes weeks before "run X".
I think it's a reasonable request to have the runs verified more or less in order of submission date/time, which is not the case at the moment. Obviously there can be exceptions to this general rule of thumb (if there are questions about the run or new tricks that aren't fully understood by the moderators yet), but generally speaking this should be the logical order in which runs get verified.
It's really nice that all the main and meme boards have seperate leaderboards for the original and remastered versions.
It would be really nice to have it for the IL's too. There are some significant differences between the 2 versions.
Also, there's a minor inconvenience when submitting a run which is the order of the platforms. The vast majority of people running this game plays on PC, yet for some reason PC is the 7th option down. Maybe place PC on top, then do the rest alphabetically or something like that?
Anything that makes taking shortcuts possible, basically. The low gravity, out of bounds, I can't say shotgun boosting is a glitch tbh but a run without shortcuts would have my preference.
And I understand that such a "casual speedrun" would be very boring to run for you guys 😅
Title says it all, I guess...
I would love to see a highly skilled player complete this game as quickly as possible, glitchless.
