Played the game briefly in 2021 with my friend tinselmikado and had a 20:34 after a few days learning and practicing the game before Inside Info, Bean Island jump and Barrels got too frustrating for me. Plus I don't think I had a proper config, lost recording or had illegal minecarts on my old PB so hopefully this run is fine! (I reinstalled using the Hobbit installer etc since that didn't exist when I last ran!) -Hope the two video links is fine!
But alas, the speedrun patch for the game really does seem to have helped with some of those frustrations and I got two breakthrough runs on my second set of attempts back with my first sub20 (On the Twitch VOD) and later on this 17:37 which I'm really happy with! Also pretty stoked with how I saved the run in Clouds Burst with a clutch clip warp on the OOB route!
Also, I find it funny how I'm a Kiwi who mainly plays an Australian game called Ty The Tasmanian Tiger and joke about the lack of Australian's in that game. Yet the vast majority of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit franchises were filmed in New Zealand, so it only seems fitting that I should be the first kiwi to submit an NMG run lmao.
Anyways, please feel free to reach out to me with advice on what to focus on for the run! I don't have a ton of time for speedrunning these days and Ty will still be my main focus and I'm heavily involved in the AoE2 scene, but I'm interested to grind this down a fair bit still and get to know you guys better :D
I'd also like to say a quick thanks to Guikeek for hanging around the stream for giving some great pointers, friendly advice and advocate for your guys' community!
Anyways that's my writeup, you guys can call me Lawn or Laurence :)
Hi all, an important and hopefully exciting update for you today!
PC Speedruns of The Hobbit have long been plagued by strange inconsistencies between hardware - the most obvious instance being with longjumps. Some player experience long jump glitch which will at best slow them down and at worst
